This is one of the coolest items I have ever had. These antique collar stays are mother of pearl buttons affixed to a celluloid tab. They measure 3 inches long and were made to prevent the high neck ladies' collars from wilting.  This grouping of black plastic buttons has four 9/16ths buttons and one 7/8ths inch buttons. They are all in excellent condition with U Shaped plastic shanks.  These two lovely black plastic buttons are covered with jewel quality white rhinestones. The buttons measure 1 1/8ths inches in diameter and have a round self shank.  These two lovely hand beaded buttons were made with black glass bugle beads on netting. The buttons measure 1 3/16ths inches in diameter and have a round self shank.

These four faceted black buttons feature a large center white rhinestone center. They measure 7/8ths inches in diameter and are in excellent condition.  I was amazed when I went to the fabric store to buy rhinestone buttons for a costume for my daughter. They were poor quality and they were expensive. Not so with this 1 inch goldtone metal black stone center rhinestone button. It is in excellent condition with jewel quality stones and has a round metal shank on the back.  All three buttons in this lot have been tested for bakelite. You are getting the three for one money. These are black carved bakelite two hole sew thrus. The largest measures 1 1/4 inches in diameter. The rectangular button measures 7/8ths by 11/16ths inches inches and the pinwheel style button measures 11/16ths inches in diameter.  This neat duo of tortoise shell colored bakelite buttons probably started out the same color. But they have mellowed over the years. Both are two hole sew thrus with the larger measuring 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The smaller is more translucent and measures 1 1/16th inches in diameter.

All three buttons in this lot have been tested for bakelite. You are getting the three for one money. The largest button measures 1 1/8th inches in diameter. It has a green painted center on applejuice bakelite . It is a two hole sew thru. The red button is 6 sided red two hole sew thru measuring 15/16ths inches in diameter. The last is a football shaped butterscotch button measuring 15/16ths inches long and 1/2 inch in the middle. It has two drilled holes.  This neat periwinkle blue Art Moderne bakelite button is in excellent condition and measures 1 inches long and 3/4 inches high. It is a two hole sew thru.  This neat spring green bakelite button is in excellent condition and measures 5/8ths inches in diameter. It is a two hole sew thru.  This neat twisted rectangular bakelite button is in excellent condition and measures 1 5/8ths inches long and 3/8ths inches high. It has 2 drilled thru the middle of the bar for sewing.

This neat black bullet shaped bakelite button is in excellent condition and measures 1 1/8ths inches long and 11/16ths inches high. It has 2 drilled thru the middle of the bar for sewing.  This single reverse carved applejuice bakelite button is a two hole sew thru measuring 15/16ths inches in diameter. These interesting pinky red bakelite buttons are shaped like a football. They have a self shank and come in two sizes. The larger (2) measure 5/8ths inches tall and slightly less than 1/2 inch wide. The smaller (7) measure 1/2 inch by 3/8ths inch.  This single two hole sew thru button is marbled with clear brown and solid beige bakelite. It measures 1 1/16th inches in diameter and is in good but lightly used condition with a touch of surface crazing.  These neat white confetti lucite buttons are one piece style with a U shaped metal shank. They measure 7/8ths inches in diameter and are in MINT condition on their original card.  These pretty black bakelite buttons have jeweler quality tiny white rhinestones. They are two hole sew thrus and measure 11/16ths inches in diameter.

These neat geometric maroon bakelite buttons measure 1 1/2inches tall and 1/2 inch wide. They have two drilled holes and pass the traditional bakelite smell test.  This pretty reddish brown flower shaped button is a two hole sew thru done in bakelite. It measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter and is slightly translucent. It has the traditional bakelite smell.  This neat green bakelite buckle is in excellent condition. It measures 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/8th inches wide. The inside openings are 1 inch high by 3/16ths inches wide (each) It has the traditional bakelite smell.  These pretty red and tan bakelite buttons are in excellent condition. All have the bakelite smell. The smallest red button measures just shy of 1/2 inch high. The tan one is 1 inch and the larger red measures 3/4 inch.

This very cool applejuice bakelite initial B pendant measures 3 3/4 inches tall and 1 3/8ths inches wide. It has a metal embedded screweye for the bale. You can see how the initial was carved when looking at the inside corners of the cut outs. One corner does have a tiny chip on the back. The pendant has the tell tale bakelite smell when rubbed.  You are seeing all 6 of the buttons which I possess. But you are buying them, by the piece. The four hole sew thru button is translucent orange with brown stripes and in excellent condition. It measures 1 5/8ths inches in diameter and passes the smell test with flying colors.  This gorgeous goldtone metal button has an openwork design with big creamy white glass pearls and fiery white rhinestones. It measures 1 1/4 inches in diameter and is in MINT condition. There is a raised round metal loop on the back.  This is a cool aged brass metal button. It features a Native American looking Thunderbird design and measures one inch in diameter. I have multiples of this button and will discount shipping if you buy more than one. It is a one piece with a round metal shank and probably dates to the 1980s.

This 1 3/4 inch tall gold and textured clear plasti star shaped button is in very good condition. It has a U Shaped Shank and no markings.  This sweet button is a two piece stamped metal with a rose and vine pattern. It measures 3/4 inches in diameter and has a self shank on the back.  This fairly modern button is as cute as can be. It is textured silvertone metal with pink plastic bead accents. It is a butterfly design measuring 7/8ths inches tall and 1 1/16th inches wide. There is a U shaped metal shank on the back.  This one piece textured black plastic button has a top full of fiery white rhinestones. It measures 1 1/8th inches in diameter and is in MINT condition.

This 1 1/2 inch tall golden metal star shaped button is in Mint condition. It has a round wire loop and no markings.  These plastic cameo style buttons are in mint condition on their original card. They measure 5/8ths inches in diameter and are one piece with a round wire shank.  This very cool translucent dark crimson red bakelite belt buckle measures 1 1/2 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide. The openings measure 1 inch high and 1/4 inch wide. The buckle is in excellent condition.  These four hole sew thru buttons measure 3/4 inches in diameter. I can't tell if they are a high grade early plastic, or glass or something else but they are lovely. They are lightly carved with a satin finish and in MINT, unused condition on their original card.

I doubt that the novelty of aluminum buttons lasted long due to the rapid rate of button discoloration. This set of two aluminum buttons shows the difference between one which was stored and one on the garment! The buttons are one piece with a U shaped metal shank and measure 3/4 inches in diameter. They are marked, MOTZ on the back.  This pretty filigree button has two rows of silver studs on an open design. The button is convex and measures 3/4 inches in diameter. There is a round wire shank.  This is a common button among collectors but interesting none the less. The button has a silvered raised trumpeter on a tinted background with a silver collet. The back is brass with a raised self shank. The button measures 3/4 inches in diameter and is in vintage condition with some wear to the colors.  This two piece silver metal crest style button has what looks like a team crest - perhaps field hockey. It measures 3/4 inches tall and has a round wire shank.

At first glance I thought this was a Boy Scout button with the neckerchief type decoration around the head of the boxer type dog. But I don't think so. The button is a two piece brass with a round wire shank. It measures 5/8ths inches in diameter.  This smaller one piece brass button has two lions standing against a crest. It measures 5/8ths inches in diameter and has a U shaped metal shank.  I am guessing that this is a railroad conductor button, not an orchestra conductor. The two piece stamped brass button has a metal back and a round wire shank. It measures 9/16ths inches in diameter. It doesn't appear to have been used.  This interesting one piece roaring lion button had a gilt finish. It is somewhat worn now. The button measures 13/16ths inches high and 11/16ths inches wide. It has a U shaped Metal wire shank on the back.
