Vintage Metal Crochet Hooks-Lot of 3

This is a large wood weaving shuttle with pointed brass tips. The shuttle is mahogany and measures 16 inches long by 1.25 inches high by 2 inches wide. There are metal mechanisms in the inside of each end and a groove down one surface. The marks are a sign like a dollar sign, SF 54, C18 and hand scratched on 800 and 70. I don't know where it was made but was told it was from a weaving business from the 1940-1950s. We have 2 that are identical except for a slight variation in numbers. Sold separately. A neat item that would make an interesting decor accent as well as being of interest to gadget and textile art enthusiasts. A true piece of industrial art!  This wood tea pot tape measure holder has inside an old advertising measureing tape (poor condition) that reads: (FASHION FROCKS INC Cincinnati OH World's Largest Concern Selling Direct to Wearer Through Authorized Fashion Counsel.) The building that once housed this company is being restored by the Historical Society. Condition: solid/good Some black paint lose. Tape measure is in poor condition.  Tatting shuttle, made in bone. Measures 77 mm long by 17 mm wide (3 inches by just over 5/8 inch). There is a chip off the bone on one side (see photo extreme closeup). Both ends appear to still be well sprung.  Early 1900s Sterling Silver Button Hook A great Victorian sewing item! It measures 3". Some slight wear - normal for age, this is silver Intricate floral design on the hook.

Late 19th century needle case, made in turned bone with silver plated end caps. Case measures 82 mm long and 7.5 mm diameter (3.1/4 inches by 5/16 inch). Excellent condition, except thread to screw is a little worn.  This is a great English darning mushroom or treen wood darner with painted to look like an actual mushroom...sorta. This wooden or treen darner has a turned oak handle with with a red painted top with white polka dots, and measures 4 inches long, 2.5 inches in diameter. The mushroom darning mushroom was made in the 1950-1960s when due to post war shortages in England socks and stockings were still being darned and mended. The darner is in excellent condition. A great piece and very collectible.  Tatting shuttle, made in bone, measures 76 mm by 17 mm (3 inches by 11/16 inch). Excellent condition. Antique Gold Metal Sewing Button hook or buttonhook Measures 2 1/2" long. Needs a small polish. Emma in heart on top Appears to be rolled gold. Spiral engraved handle  Quaint little decorated turned wood needlecase, with "Bulgaria" around the base. Made in a minaret style. Top unscrews. Measures 89 mm long and 23 mm diameter (3.1/2 inches by 7/8 inch). Excellent condition.  These 2 Metal Zippers (Neck & Skirt) I believe are Early 40s,or Late 30s because they are only 10 Cents!! Someone has marked 25 cents on one of them,probably for a yard Sale. The colors are Black and White. Turned bone 19th century English pillow lace bobbin. It has green stain, and red and green dots - very much in the style of Robert Haskins. It measures 90 mm long not including the spangles, and has a 5.5 mm diameter shank (just over 3.1/2 inches by just under 1/4 inch). Blue glass side beads and decorated white glass bottom bead. Very good condition.  English 19th century pillow lace bobbin - turned polished bone, with red and green stain inside the grooves. The spangle includes two seed beads and two square cuts . Fine size bobbin, measuring 85 mm long not including the spangle, and with a shank of 5 mm diameter (3.5/16 inch by 3/16 inch). Very good condition.  19th century English pillow lace bobbin, made in turned bone with red staining and inset brass wire binding. Measures 93.5 mm long not including the spangle, and has a shank 8 mm diameter (just under 3.3/4 inches by 5/16 inch). It has a chip off the head, otherwise in excellent condition.  Narrow 19th century English turned bone pillow lace bobbin. 88 mm long not including the spangle (3.1/2 inches). Shank is 6 mm diameter (1/4 inch). Very good condition.

Pretty 19th century English pillow lace bobbin. Polished turned bone, with pink staining decoration. Measures 97 mm long not including the spangle and has a shank of 6 mm diameter (3.7/8 inches by 1/4 inch)). Very good condition.  Turned bone bobbin, measures 89 mm long , not including the spangle which has pink and clear glass square cut beads. It has a 6 mm diameter shank (3.1/2 inches by 1/4 inch). The head, long neck and shank of this bobbin are quite fine. The brass binding wire is a bit loose, not sure if this was intended or not, since each end is still secured.  Very nice turned bone 19th century pillow lace bobbin - it is bound with brass wire and has a spangle of pink and clear square cut beads, with the bottom bead being teal blue glass with dots of colour on it. Bobbin is 97 mm long not including the spangle (3.7/8 inches) and the shank is 8 mm diameter (5/16 inch). It has a chip of bone lengthways off the head, but otherwise is in very good condition.  Possibly turned whale bone by the amount of grain in this item - don’t exactly know what it is. It is a tube which unscrews in the middle, with six holes in both ends. Maybe separates wools when knitting multiple strands?? It measures 16.5 cm long and 2.8 cm diameter (6.1/2 inches by 1.1/8 inches). Nice incised and stained black lines around centre opening, and around the edges at either end. The ends are shaped, with the centre hole being in a slightly raised-edge hollow. Excellent condition. 19th century. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know!

Antique sewing collectible, thread holder, carved bone with a top that unscrews. Spindle to hold the thread, and a hole in the side for the thread to come through. Tiny, measures 28 mm high and 20 mm diameter (1.1/8 inches by 3/4 inch). Excellent condition, very pretty. 19th century.  For sale is a sterling handled sock darner with an ebony egg that dates to approximately 1900. Darner measures approximately 6 inches in length. The handle is faintly marked sterling on both sides. There are some minor dents to the sterling handle. The ebony egg shows wear from usage. The bobbin or spool measures 9.5 inches long by 4.5 in diameter and is marked with an impressed US in the wood on an end. The bobbin or spool has metal inserts both ends with signs of use. Bobbins or spools like this are now used as decorative accents and candle stands and are perfect for country decorating.  This is an antique English treen or wooden bobbin like a tapered cone with a metal collar and insert. The bobbin cone measures 8.75 inches high and has a stepped surface on the lower half...at least I guess it's the lower half. The bobbin or spool is in very good with great patina there is considerable chipping on the base from use. Antique bobbins are great candle holders and a great part of country decorating.  This is an antique English treen or wooden bobbin or spool made in the 1920s. The bobbin measures 7 inches high by 2.75 in diameter and has a ribbed surface and some red paint residue. The bobbin or spool is in very good +++ with great patina and character and is a great decorative item. They are used as well as candle holders with character!

This is an antique chalk ware half doll pincushion that was made in Germany 1900-1920s. The pincushion overall measures 6 inches high by 4.5 inches in diameter and has a turquoise hand panted dress, long gloves and headband and hand painted facial features. The pin cushion dress is a base of blue satin with pink ruffles and a net over skirt. There are pins included including a Victorian white glass ball headed pin and several later faux pearl headed pins. The doll has some wear to the face and the pincushion is soiled but a great item of antique or vintage sewing memorabilia and quite collectible.  This is a new hand made pincushion or pin cushion made from vintage fabrics and an old wooden button that was made in 2010 by the Bazaar Workshop Of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Sequim, Wa. The pincushion was made for one of the 2 fund raising bazaars to aid the county food pantry and foreign missionaries and is 2.5 inches high by 6 inches in diameter. The pincushion sewing collectible has blue, green and yellow vintage fabric an is trimmed with an old wood button. The pincushion is tightly stuffed and is new with the original tag.  This is a neat figural pincushion in the shape of a lace up oxford shoe made of silver plated cast iron in the 1930s. The pin cushion shoe measures 4.5 inches long by 1.25 inches wide by 2 inches high. The figural pin cushion has an inset of velvet. The shoe says Made In Japan on the sole and has Japanese characters on the inside of the heel. It is in very good condition with little plate loss but does have a hole in the heel where it looks to me like someone tried to hammer a nail with it! Embossed with "Just a Thimble Full" around the top rim. Measures 1 5/8 inches tall. This is a set of 8 turned wood lace bobbins from England made 1950-1960s. Each of the light color turned wood bobbins measures 4.5 inches long and each has a different animal decal. The animals include badger, rabbit, mouse, fawn, 2 birds and squirrel. The bobbins are in excellent condition and the decals are so cute!  <b>Gorgeous Suede Like Sewing Box with Lift Out Tray</b> Size: 5 H x 9 W (not including handle) x 6 D Clear plastic lift out tray w/ 4 compartments for extra storage. Inside lid has attached pin cushion w/one pearl like pin and pocket Handle has Resin fitted socket holding handles to box. Handles and trimming are of a hard braiding like material. The flap has a Velcro catch. The box is footed w/ 4 resin rounded feet and is padded beneath the Suede like material. Hinged lid. Bottom is a particle board like material. Markings: Gold foil paper label: Made in Philippines Found at an Estate Sale in Great Falls Montana. Appears to be never used? Weight: 1 lb. 10 Oz's.  This is a vintage Manorware or manor ware pincushion that was made in Scotland, United Kingdom in the 1940-1950s and is 2.5 inches high. The pincushion sewing collectible looks like a barrel with a tartan fabric top. It was a souvenir of Fort William, Scotland. The pincushion has no paint loss but does have a small rim chip and a couple of hairline cracks. But a great piece if you collect Manorware, Scottish souvenirs or tartan.  Vintage trade card advertising the Domestic treadle sewing machine. This machine was rated the best family sewing machine at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York in 1901. Very little damage except two small tears on one side, one on the top, and one corner has been bent over the years. Bright color. Nice detail in the picture.

This is a great vintage darning mushroom from 1900-1920 with it's original chrome sock ring we brought back from England recently. This wooden or treen oak darner has a turned handle with 2 incised rings and measures 4.5 inches long, 2.25 inches in diameter. The oak darning mushroom is in very good +++ condition has great patina and I love the use scars on the top...in fact the end of the handle looks like a puppy used it for teething! A great piece and very collectible.  Moulded glass pin cushion, late Victorian period (late 19th century) in the shape of a wheel barrow. Measures about 82 mm high and 120 mm long (3.1/4 inches by 4.3/4 inches). Minor fault - small chip of inside edge of rear leg of barrow. Quaint object.  This is a Mauchline Ware wood cylindrical box or case covered with a tartanware plaid paper that could be a needle case, a vinagarette or perfume bottle holder. The antique holder is 3.25 inches high by 1.5 inches in diameter but is missing the bottle if it was a perfume bottle case or vinagarette. There is a small amount of old gauze in the bottom. The needle case or holder was made in England where I found it 1870-1890s and is in very good ++ condition. The tartan plaid covering is intact but is a bit wrinkled and shows wear on the edges but is still a neat and very collectible piece.  Nice vintage ruler, advertising the White sewing machines. Made in the USA. Measures 6 inches long. Made of heavy duty cardboard.
