THIS IS VINTAGE SOCK DARNER - MADE FROM WOOD - HAND MADE, It is in excellent used working condition, Measuring about 6 3/4 inch long,US Buyer please remit 7.00 for shipping plus insurance.THANKS.  Beautiful Victorian Scottish treenware string or wool holder. This fine example of Victorian Mauchlineware is a prize addition for the collector of Victorian Sewing or Needlework tools and for the Scottish souvenir ware collector. This circa 1860s-1880s wool or string dispenser is in wonderful condition, all original with lovely patina, having 2 vignettes showing a harbpour and the other store fronts. It measures 3.75 inches high and about 4 inches high. Add it to your tartan ware or Fern ware collection with pride.  Silver plated long box with hinged lid - lid is a pin cushion, and inside is for jewellery or hair pins.

Once it was silk inside and purple velvet outside - now the inner silk is still intact, but has faded and showing signs of wear. Outside, the velvet has faded and lost all its nap. Sawdust stuffing can be seen through the top. The silver plate is still in excellent condition. This item dates from circa 1900-1910.

It measures 15 cm long and 6.3 cm wide. It stands about 6.5 cm high (6 inches by 2.1/2 inches and about 2.1/2 inches high).  Old French lacemaker’s bobbin, still with its thread. Made in what looks like olive wood. Measures 10.5 cm long (4.1/8 inches). Very good condition - it has the normal dings of age, but nothing serious. The sides of the bulb of these bobbins are slightly worn flat, where they constantly rub against the pillow.

Late 19th to early 20th century.

MAUCHLINE WARE SCOTTISH TREEN WARE WOOL $395.00

French Pillow Lace Bobbin. $41.00

East Midlands pillow lace bobbin with bead spangles. Late 19th or early 20th century. the spangles are all glass beads except for the smallest black bead which is wooden. Bobbin measures 96 mm long and 7 mm diameter at its widest point (3.3/4 inches by 1/4 inch). Excellent condition.  Pillow lace bobbin, East Midlands, England. Late 19th or early 20th century, still with some thread on it. The spangles are on copper wire, and have a large yellow horn bead, with the other beads being glass. Bobbin measures 9.5 cm long (3.3/4 inches) with out the spangles ring. 6 cm diameter at its widest point (1/2 inch). Stain on the wood, otherwise excellent condition.  Six old livery buttons - worn by servants on their livery, and bearing the crest of the household (Lion Rampant over bar in this case). Fronts are silver plate, and the rear of the buttons are coppery looking. They are stamped with the maker’s name: "Nortzell & Son, London". Buttons are 16 mm diameter (11/16 inch) and have loop backs. We have 5 larger identical buttons for sale elsewhere in this category. Excellent condition.

These buttons came out with one of the first Wanganui families here in New Zealand, who intended to recruit household servants from amongst the local population. However, the Maoris turned out to be not at all servile, in fact outright very against the notion, and so they were never used.   Three celluloid-fronted man’s buttons, with photos of women on them . And I don’t think they’re his mum and his sisters either. These must have been the buttons of a single lad-about-town in the Edwardian period, circa 1901-1910. Each measures 13 mm diameter (1/2 inch). The backs are gilded metal with loop. Excellent condition.

Cute Aynsley bone china thimble with roses. Comes with original box. Thimble measures 1 inch tall. No damage. Made in England.  Five old livery buttons - worn by servants on their livery, and bearing the crest of the household (Lion Rampant over bar in this case). Fronts are silvered metal, and the rear of the buttons are coppery looking. They are stamped with the maker’s name: "R.E.Hayward, 21 Bouverie St, London". Buttons are 26 mm diameter (1 inch) and have loop backs. We have 5 smaller identical buttons for sale elsewhere in this category. Excellent condition.

These buttons came out with one of the first Wanganui families here in New Zealand, who intended to recruit household servants from amongst the local population. However, the Maoris turned out to be not very servile, in fact outright against the idea, and they were never used.   This is an antique mahogany or treen needlecase or needle holder made 1920-1930s in England. The needle case measures 5 inches long by .75 inch in diameter with a friction fit lid. There are 5 various old needles in it that were in it when I got it in England which I have left inside. The needlecase is in very good ++ condition. There is one wood chip where the lid comes off. On the body is a natural imperfection in the wood which has lovely patina testifying to it's being an original feature of the wood. The needle holder is actually a much darker mahogany than shows up in the photos. A nice piece of treen and sewing memorabilia as well as useful.  This vintage tool is a metal latch hook in a wooden handle that measures 5.75 inches long. It was used for making rugs made in the 1940-1950s. I bought it in England in Glastonbury famous for Arthurian connections. It is in very good ++ condition with just some aging patina on the metal latch hook.

Latch Hook Old Wood Handled Metal Rug To $10.00

This is an interesting vintage tool I picked up in Glastonbury, England, a city famous for it's association with the legend of King Arthur. I think it is a rug making tool but I am no expert. It has a registry number that dates it to 1920s. It measures 6.5 inches long and has a handle that latches to grip the thread or material and knot it. Quite a neat piece and in very good ++ condition except for a bit of plating loss on the business end from use!  A Victorian period tapestry - late 19th century. The subject is large roses, surrounded by a border of leaves. Possibly made to be a stool seat or table screen panel. The roses are given texture by using finer and coarser stitches and wool. Generally, the pattern is worked in thicker wool, and the background in fine. There is a part of the black border where for some reason brown has been used. Oval panel measures 42 cm by 32 cm (16.1/2 inches by 12.1/2 inches). The whole, frames measures 66 cm by 52 cm (26 inches by 20.1/2 inches).

Very good condition overall - possibly some fading to roses colour. Beige mount, gold frame.  A treen pin cushion, a turned wood little bucket, with Big Tree, California on it. Pin cushion part is bristles, very tight together. Darker lines form decoration around the pail.

Measures 6.5cm high, not including the handle (2.1/2 inches). Top is 6.6cm diameter (just over 2.1/2 inches).

Excellent condition.  This aluminum darner measures 3 X 4 inches and is in excellent condition. I'm guessing, from the way it is shaped, that it was used to darn knees of trousers and elbows of shirts. Will be a nice addition to a vintage sewing collection.

An early 20th century cased set of 6 Venetian glass buttons - circa 1905-1920. Buttons have brass loop to rear, and separate rings. Toffee-coloured glass, with a central strip of metallic gold. Buttons measure 12mm diameter (1/2 inch). Excellent condition.  Pretty design to the handle of these scissors . They measure 14cm long (5.1/2 inches). Probably date from 1930 - 1950s. Very good condition.  Keen Kutter Simmons Sewing Needlework Scissors Germany.

Vintage handwork scissors with ornate decorative impressed designs on both sides of handles.

One side is marked: Simmons Hardware Co. Germany. The opposite side is marked: Keen Kutter inside Logo.

They appear to be steel, are attracted to magnet. Color looks pewter or nickel.

The Blades are slightly bent, but they still cut nicely. They show a little usage wear.

Measure approx 4.5 inches long.

Very pretty little Collectilbe Sewing or Crafting Scissors.

This is a fun antique English darning mushroom or darner made of painted wood. The turned wood handle has 2 incised rings and the handle has white paint while the top has the remnants of pale pink paint. The darmer was made in England 1900-1920 and measures 4.5 inches long by 2.5 in diameter. I would call the condition good ++ because of the paint loss. But it has a lot of character and is very collectible. Neat!

Trinket box/pin cushion can be lifted out of the silver surround, and is velvet on the outside. A pretty little item.  A late 19th century, or possibly early 20th century pillow lace bobbin - made in turned wood. It has a hold drilled through the end if you wanted to put weights on it (these were usually coloured glass beads strung on a loop of fine wire). Nice celluloid thimble, advertising Bernard's Fabrics on 1102 Elm in Dallas. Measures apx 7/8 inches tall, 3/4 inches wide at the bottom. Perfect shape, nice crisp lettering.  Antique Oak Box w/sewing machine attachments, 6-3/8 inches long, 3-1/2 inches tall, 3-3/89 inches deep, 12-1/4 inches when laid open. One attachment has a patent date of 1888. The box is in good condition. The top of the box shows a patent date of 'February 19, 1889'. I don't guarantee that all the original pieces are here. What you see is what you get.

A little 19th century ivory case that would have contained a tape measure - it has a small spindle in the top which unscrews. The top of this spindle is broken. Case measures 4cm (just over 1.1/2 inches) high and 2.5cm (1 inch) diameter.  Tired of searching for that needle threader when you need it? Here’s a wonderful solution for your frustration. This little case, 2 ¼ by 1 ¼, is much easier to find. It is a souvenier of Missouri finished in goldtones with a white plastic top. The decoration on the top is somewhat worn but does not detract from this piece. The case opens to hold a needle threader, pins, bobbins or perhaps even small scissors. This little case, made in China, will be a welcome addition to your sewing collection.

This is a pair of 13 ¾ inch long number 8 Bucilla knitting needles. These needles are made of an early plastic possibly celluloid. The ends are made of a black plastic. These needles are slightly curved and in excellent condition.

This is an early advertsing tape measure of considerable interest. The tape measure is made of painted metal ends with a celluloid spacer. The tape measure has a spring type retraction mechanism which was probably the subject of the 1917 and 1919 patents that are referenced on the piece. The piece is also marked P. N. Chgo. Co. The advertising is most interesting. The tape measure is marked John Clay & Company Live Stock Commission. In the western cattle industry, John Clay is a well-known name. He is called by some the deam of American stockmen. The John Clay Livestock Commission was perhaps the larget livestock commission firm in the country during the early part of the 1900’s. This tape measure is in wonderful condition for a vintage piece. The tape still retracts to about the 8 inch mark. From that point on, it has to be manually rewound. The first few inches are frayed along the edges from years of use. This collectible is a wonderful addition to your vintage sewing collection or for the collector of the western history.

This is the 1929 patented wooden needle case by the Boye Needle Company. The wooden case is 2 ½ inches long. It is printed in dark blue or black ink. One needle (unknown vintage) is still in the case.

This is a pair of Boye knitting needles marked Fashion Master. They are the 10” length size 8 US needles in a gray plastic with cream colored ends. The size is clearly delineated on the end caps. These needles are still in their original packaging.

EARLY KNITTING NEEDLES IN ORIGINAL PACKAGE! Beautiful FLORA MACDONALD knitting needles by the famous English needle maker ABEL MORRALL. What is so special about these knitting needles is that after all these years they are still in their ORIGINAL PACKAGING! The needles are still wrapped in the original envelope. They measure about 9 inches in length and the package is about 1 inch wide. A marvelous item to add to one's needlework tools collection!  A most elegant sewing tool! As pictured in Gay Ann Rogers Needlework Tools. This is a turn of the century HEM MEASURE that Needle women found most useful for hemming since it could be moved easily as the hem was pinned and it would keep the hem depth, so it guided her work. These hem gages were cherished both for their use and for their beauty. According to Gay Ann Rogers "these are avidly sought by collectors today". This elegant example is an ART NOUVEAU style, silver plated. It is marked on the back by the maker-Pelouze Scale & manufacturing Co., Chicago. Pat Oct 2nd 1894 Pat.Pending. It measures 5 1/2 inches in length and is 1/2 inch wide. It's in excellent condition & the marker moves wonderfully. Its in very nice condition and would be a proud addition!  Celluloid sewing scissors. Pearlized green handles with silver flowers and black leaves, 5 inches long. These may be nail scissors because they have a curved top. I think they are celluloid, back of handle has three dimpled areas, unmarked. L34Bx10. (6) PPDDPP22000022
