The exterior is velvet and gilt edges. When opened it reveals the compartment where packet of needles are stored, it looks like it used to have a pull out section of needles which is no longer there, the other side has an endearing Victorian picture. Its truly a unique looking Victorian needlecase that would make a lovely addition to your Victorian sewing needlework tools collection. Its in very good condition and measures about 1 inch by 2 ¼ inches by 2 ¾ inches. THIS NEEDLE CASE IS MADE OF COPPER AND WAS PAINTED WITH THE JOHN HANCOCK LOGO ENGRAVED ON THE FRONT. TOP MAY HAVE BEEN PAINTED, BUT IT HAS WORN OFF. THE ORIGINAL PAPER INSERT WITH 6 NEEDLES ATTACHED IS IN GOOD COMNDITION. THE 7 ADDITIONAL NEEDLES MAY HAVE ADDED LATER??  UNIQUE ANTIQUE ORNATE TRIPLE NEEDLE THREADER A most unique Antique cast metal NEEDLE THREADER! This is a wonderful ORNATE needle threader with 3 different compartments for 3 sizes of needles. It also has a thread cutter. I have only had one other similar to this, it too came from the same estate, otherwise I have never seen such an early cast needle threader! It has 2 openings at the top for most likely to hang on a chatelaine. Definitely a most unique VICTORIAN needlework – sewing tool to proudly add to one’s collection or give as a gift.
