Extremely rare first edition first printing of 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens). This choice book is one of the very few published in London by Chatto and Windus in 1876 preceding the first American edition which was published six months later. This is a true first edition copy of which very few exist because it was initially published in very small quantity in London. The binding is the original binding in fair condition but it is considered extremely scarce to retain the original binding as most copies found have been rebound. If you do find another copy of this book for sale it would be priced far greater than the price I am asking. I have only found two copies that have sold or are offered for sale and they were priced at $25,000 and $30,000. Both those copies retained their original red cloth binding as does this copy. This book would be a cornerstone to any American literature rare book collection. Please inquire for additional information and/or if you would like a shipping quote.   First edition Canadian Arctic journey book by the title 'Across the Sub-Arctics of Canada; a journey of 3,200 miles by canoe and snowshoe through the barren lands' written by J. W. Tyrell and published in 1897 by William Briggs of Toronto. The binding is pictorial cloth with gilt lettering. The binding is in good condition and the interior is in very good condition. Several pages are creased at the corners. There is a folding map included. Please inquire with your questions and/or if you would like a shipping quote.  Extremely rare and important book titled 'Theorie Elementaire De La Botanique' (Elementary Theory of Botany) by Swiss Botanist Augustin Pyramus Candolle (1778-1841). This book is a first edition published in 1813 in Paris, France and contains De Candolle's most important work. The book is comprised of 500 numbered pages plus an index at the end. The binding appears to be original with loss to the leather spine covering. The title of the book is written in ink on the spine. The front cover is nearly detached. There is a bookplate on the inside front cover and a later ownership inscription in ink on the first blank page. The interior text is in fine condition with creamy white color to the paper and the pages crisp with some spots of light brownish discoloration. The book is extremely rare and contains the author's most important work as a famous Swiss botanist. I have not found another copy of this book currently being offered for sale by any book dealer nor have I found another copy of this book having sold in book sales records in the past forty years going back to the 1960's when there was a copy which is indicated as having sold back then. Please inquire with questions or for a shipping quote.  Limited edition book titled 'Miscellaneous Poems' by Jonathan Swift including a title vignette and 12 woodcut illustrations by Robert Gibbings. The book is #249 of a limited edition of 375 copies published in 1928 by the Golden Cockerel Press. The book is in very good over-all condition. There is a bookplate on the inside front cover. Please inquire if you have any questions or would like a shipping quote.
