Completely illustrated with beautiful color photo plates, this scarce out-of-print book is a definitive identification and value guide to antique copper and brass.

ANTIQUE BRASS & COPPER: IDENTIFICATION & VALUE GUIDE by Mary Frank Gaston, Collector Books/Schroeder Publishing Co. Inc., KY, 1992/1994.

Contents by chapter topic include: antique brass, its production, terminology and availability for collectors; antique brass implements such as kitchenware, fireplace equipment, hardware fixtures, decorative and personal objects and lighting implements. Coverage of antique copper items focuses on household versus commercial copper with domestic examples divided according to living space: copper in the foyer, parlor & study, kitchen & dining room, bed & bath, laundry room and cleaning cupboard. Attention is given to modern reproductions. A useful bibliography is followed by indexes to brass and copper objects for handy reference. The value guide, appropriate for the year of publication rounds out this fine collector’s guide to brass and copper objects of 1850-1930, approximately. As many collectors are aware, this author writes often and well about antiques and collectibles, providing authoritative texts on various subjects. Her coverage of collectible 'old' brass and copper will make a welcome addition to the reference library of collectors of American and European antique metalwares.
