A fantastic original WWI German shell casing for an Imperial German 155MM gun. This brass casing is approx 28" tall, 6" diameter, the base is marked "Juli 1918 HL27", and  "FN" in a circle, indicates the case was made at the captured Belgian Fabrique Nationale factory near Liege, Berlgium. The case is clean and still has some chocolate patina, and no primer, compeletey inert. It wiill make an interesting umbrella stand. Shipping weright 20 lbs, UPS only.  When WW1 erupted the US Army had few field guns, using mostly French 75s. But we did possess small numbers of the medium caliber gun, the US Model 1906 4.7 Inch Gun. A very scarce   4.7" US field artillery piece. Approx 17" tall, brass w xc markings "Model of 1906  4.7 In. Gun", with crossed cannons US Ondnace Dept stamp.  No primer. Inert. VG.  A fantastic World War One hand made tench periscope , consists of an approx 18 x 3 x 3.2" wood body, with crudely made openings in each end and inside, 2 WWI vintage lady's cosmetic mirrors affixed. I removed the mirrors and each is a commercial lady's compact mirror, approx 3 x 2.3", the tin frame of each has a color celluloid image of a pretty young woman on the reverse! A very crude periscope probably made circa 1914-1915 in the early days of trench warfare on the Western Front.  An original WWI French infantry helmet complete with liner. The steel helmet is well used, still has 50% of original paint and the infantry insignia is corroded but compete. The liner is loose but complete, with worm eaten leather and moth eaten blue felt. The chinstrap is present with buckle , missing the end attachment. The helmet looks like it saw lots of use.

A great pair of original WWII American GI items,  1) A handsome red/white/blue shoulder patch worn by a GI in the China Burma India Campaigns, mfg in theater - the stars/ bars are individually  sewn, back piece with  3 metal snaps. Average wear, slight fading.  2) Original Broadside Farewell Address from General TA Terry, HQ US Forces, India-Burma Theater thanking his men for their sacrifices- says to  wear the CBI patch with pride. 1p 8 x 11" ptd, Oct 1, 1945. Vg. W rev pencil note by the GI who brought this home, notes his route home from was Camp Malin, Oct 1945,via Karachi. VG.   The pair  Thea Rasche was a noted German aviatrix, the first German woman stunt flyer, and a chart er member of the "Ninty Nines" woman pilots organization founded by Amelia Earhart. 8 x 11" news photo of Ms Rasche and American pilot Clarence Chamberlain in the cockpit of the Bellanca Monoplane "Columbia", 1927. Photo reverse w" Wide World Photo" stamp and original 1927 label identifying the flyers. Vg.  A bone china cup & saucer in blue. Both pieces have the flag of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The bottom of both pieces are marked' PARAGON' with double warrants from 'HM THE QUEEN & HM QUEEN MARY' and 'PATRIOTIC SERIES PRODUCED DURING THE WAR OF BRITAIN'. In very good condition.

 A good bone china cup and saucer with a named portrait of Winston Churchill and inscribed on the saucer ‘Never was so much owed by so many to so few‘. Both bases marked 'PARAGON' with double warrants from 'H.M.THE QUEEN & H.M.QUEEN MARY' and 'PATRIOTIC SERIES PRODUCED DURING THE WAR OF BRITAIN'. In good condition small dark 'smudges' on the back of the cup are in the glaze..

 A very nice advertising item from World War One- An original, complete World War One US high- explosive 75MM round with  steel shell with copper rotating band, an  iron/brass percussion  fuze, brass case w inert primer, and a very nice brass/enamel shield shape plaque   Shipping weight is 15 lbs.mounted on the casing, mkd "75MM High Explosive Shell Made by American Can Company presented with its Compliments" VG, all components are empty and are inert. 25" tall, VG overall.  'Famous quotations in the cause of Democracy' printed on the outside. Paragon bone china dish in the c.1941 Patriotic Series. The qotation in the bowl reads "We shall not fail or falter. We shall not weaken or tire. Give us the tools & we will finish the job" signed - Winston Churchill. The back reads 'Produced during the War of Britain'. In good condition.  A very wicked looking French Infantry rifle bayonet with blade edge handsomely engraved "Mfre d' Armes de' St Etienne D'bre 1880 " . Brass pommel, w walnut grips and locking spring works. The curved guard  has ordnance inspector markings and is serial numbered.The blade is exc, bright. The blade is  20.5",  bayonet is  25" overall. A great den decorator!   With original steel scabbard. Vg.

A very handsome color lithograph album of 16 images of the French Army Academy at St Cyr, "Album Militaire Ecole Speciale Militaire De Saint-Cyr", w plates incl Basic training, Infantry relaxes shooting pool, barracks life, mess hall, classrooms, swordsmanship, cavalry training, equestrian training, the Infirmary etc, publ by Figaro Illustre, 1892-96, Paris. Each illus is 10 x 12", fine colors. Edges worn, softcover w tears, overall good.  The album. 16pp.  A nice 1930s era shoulder holster, Heiser Holster # 125, that was worn by a National Guard colonel in the 1930s. This brown leather holster is complete with buff shoulder loops. The holster is stamped with the Heiser logo and "Heiser Denver 125" VG  Original group of 5 items, 4 medals and a dogtag  include  1 ) Named WW2 Good Conduct medal w owners name engraved "John D Champlain, Jr".  2 )  WW2  US Victory medal, depicts Liberty, for service in the 2nd World War. 3 )  National Defense Medal, 4 ) Good Conduct  Medal. 5 ) US Army Dogtag,  names Champlin, serial number, religion and blood type. All exc, medals w vg ribbons. Only the 1st of the 4 medals has engraved name. These came from the Kingston, New York area. The 5 items  American World War 2  57mm shell casing for killing tanks, made circa 1943 during the copper shortage. Appox 23" tall, necked steel case, exc, w original varnish finish. Unmarked base. Vg & scarce. These were used by Sherman Tanks 1942-45.

The 'Patriotic Series' raised funds for the war effort. The base is marked' PARAGON' with double warrants from 'HM THE QUEEN & HM QUEEN MARY' and 'PATRIOTIC SERIES PRODUCED DURING THE WAR OF BRITAIN'. In good condition  An original US Army issue military compass, all brass body w hinged lid, belt ring, sighting device & marked "US 1918 US Engineer Corps F-L 1918", w matching serial numbers inside & out. The compass rose does not rotate, and compass shell is missing one small screw. A nice original Doughboy item, unlike all  the fake WWI British Army compasses coming from Pakistan!

Lord Randolph Churchill was the "Golden Boy" of the British Conservative Party before his untimely death; his son Winston Churchill was driven by his fathers shadow to become the Defender of the West in WW2.  An original Staffordshire plate issued in 1886 to honor the passing of Lord Randolph- octagonal 9" white china plate w color image of the Lord framed with wreath of a thistle, shamrocks & a rose. Wear on edges and a scratch on edge, overall vg, no cracks or chips.   I got these in Alexandria, Egypt in 1982 and the group includes 1-3) Egyptian Army  Infantry Badges, worn by troops who served in the 1973 War between Egypt & Israel. Approx 1.5 x 1.3" cast brass w wreath and figure of infantryman, & arabic inscription, w  pinback. 4) Ordnance Badge, as above, 5) Transport Badge, as above, 6) 6 Egyptian Army coat and cuff buttons.  World War II Paragon Patriotic Series cup and saucer the bases marked "Patriotic Series, Produced during War of Britain".  The saucer has an anchor on a blue background in an acanthus leaf frame with a crown on top. This is the badge worn on Naval Officers caps. The inside of the cup there are three large battleships and a banner reading "Britain shall triumph her ships shall plough the sea, her standard be justice her watchword be free". One of the more popular designs of this interesting series.  Excellent condition.

Base is dated 1940 making it the first pre- Dunkirk WW2 Brit case I have ever seen, w British ordnance marks, broad arrows, etc; the primer is fired, inert & dates 1939. vg. I believe this is a tank round casing  An historic trio of original 1945 American newpspapers announcing the Surrender of the German Army in Europe and VE Day! The 3 complete issues  include 1) The Hartford Times, Hartford, Connecticut, May 8, 1945 "Victory Day Proclaimed",  2) New York Times, May 8, 1945, "The War in Europe is Ended!!, and  3) The Springfield Union, Springfield, Massachusetts, May 8, 1945, "Germans Surrender Unconditionally".  Each issue is multipage, complete w many photos of GIs, Nazi Army surrenders, news of local boys, casualties, General Eisenhower's Proclamation, hometown celebrations, War in the Pacific etc. Each issue complete, age yellowing but still flexible, small tears on edges, overall vg and frameable. General Ira C Eaker rose from a pre-war fighter pilot to Commander of the Eighth US Air Force, Army Air Corp, during World War 2. A very rare original pair of photos of Eaker piloting an Army Loening Amphibious biplane, ferrying the Secretary of War from Washington, DC, to THE  Panama Canal Zone, March 11, 1928. Each photo shows the 2 seaplanes in flight over Washington, w ptd label on back identifying the pilots & passengers; both have a stamp of the  Wide World Wire Service Photo Company. Each photo 8 x 11", w creases, small edge cuts, vg overall. An unusual pottery beaker by Copeland Spode printed with a shield (surmounted by a crown) and decorated with the British Lion and DIEU ET MON DROIT (God and My Right). The rear has RAF wings and inscribed for the British War Relief Society. In excellent condition.

  World War Two  155 howitzer case. 10 1/4" tall, approximately 6" diameter. Copper case, w German ordnance marks and eagle, 1936 date. Sides w faint imprints of stencilling. Exc. No primer and inert. Very scarce- the capture of a German 155 battery on D-Day, Normandy was featured in "Band of Brothers". Will ship UPS only, not international.  a fascinating photo album belonging to a Civilian Conservarion Corp veteran, contains approx  62  4 x 3"  and 3   7 x5"  snapshots of Camp Lonergan CCC Camp, late 1930s, some great images of young men of the 179th Company, CCC, some in military uniform, camp scenes, goofing around, wrestling, at work, cutting timber, blacksmithing, etc.  Camp Lonergan was near Voluntown, Connecticut, in the Patchaug State Forest, operated 1933-1942. Good condition with minor wear.  a nice Pair of World War American Veteran garrison caps, 1 ) Forty and Eight Society Cap-  The doughboy veteran "'40 & 8'" Society" name derived from the French railroad box cars that hauled the troops to the Front- each car posted a notice that capacity was 40 men or 8 horses.  a striking field blue cap w embroidered  "40/8", &  "Post 370, Conn"   lettering, and  a 1" home-made wood pin button depicting a skull & crossbones & the Post number.  A 40/8 Membership medal is attached- the handsome bronze medal shows soldiers aboard a boxcar, w blue/bray ribbon.  2 )  American Legion garrison cap,also bearing a 40/8 Scoiety pin, with embroidered lettering "Past Commander 8 Connecticut" & Legion starburst emblem. I assume these were liberated by a  GI, as they have an old  2" typed  label reading "Jap Chopsticks comb mirror" (didnt come with mirror or comb). vg.  a handsome group of 3 Filipino made kris, fighting knives brought back by a WW2 Pacific Theater GI.  The 3 include  1 ) a beautiful curved iron blade kris w carved wood scabbard, both grip & scabbard  inlaid w mother of pearl, the grip w inlaid  date  "1945", the scabbard w inlaid  "Philippines"  and stars.  9" blade, 17" overall.  Missing a star & the numeral '4",   2 )  kris w a  clenched fist pommel, the carved wood scabbard bound w rattan &  bears a stylized carved airplane.   12" blade, 17" overall,    3 )  kris w wood grip, a carved stylized birds head pommel, ornately carved scabbard w stylized eagle & shield 9" blade, 14" overall.  Pair of panoramic photos of American battlefields, taken 1919- original and very rare, 26 x 8" panoranmic photos,:   1 )   "The Town of Clearmont, Meuse Argonne Sector" showing one intact chateau amid a ruined village.  2 ) "Concrete Bombproof Dugouts of  the German Army Operating in the Argonne Forest …Frontline Positions Le Four De Paris".   Both are rare images  showing the devastation of the Great War.  the first image has a  photographer imprint by "Schultz, A.E.F.No 188, 3 14 St, Wash, DC, 1919", Part of a series done while the American AEF was still in France. Both Images  w damage, spots, and trimmed.    The pair  Huge WW1 photo of American Red Cross nurses giving coffee to wounded French soldiers. A  rare, from life and poignant  image of nurses and wounded soldiers. reverse w pencil inscription "France 1918" and tiny stamp "Fine Arts Division LC".  approx 9 x 12" image on heavy stock mat. I believe this image came from a Red Cross collection; not the standard news press image.  Group of 20 postcard real photos of men & camp of the 44th Field Artillery, incl some mounted views, artillery, Doughboys in camp, individual soldiers.  & the Company dog.  All vg..  All circa 1918.  the lot  Watt Pottery bowl with yellow glaze and hand-painted apple & leaves; this was a merchant's give-away; inside the bowl is neatly lettered "Huber"s Store Ft. Atkinson, Iowa" 7 1/2 " wide, 5" deep.  A handsome  Watt Advertising bowl from Iowa. Vg, tiny makers chip under the glaze on bottom rim, no  cracks or crazing. Bottom markings "Oven Proof USA", mostly covered by glaze.
