Cast iron with glass eyes through which the fire glows, in excellent original condition, made in the late 19th Century, and by their markings they appear to be by Peck, Stow and Wilcox of Connecticut, who beginning in 1800 were manufacturers of tools and machinery as well as cast iron, and were located in Southington, Conn. from 1870-1950. 15-1/2"H X. 15-1/2" D. X 9-1/2" W. Several foundries made similar castings of owl andirons around the same time. We currently have several pairs in stock, some of which were made by Howes of Boston and Rostand Manufacturing Co. of Milford, Connecticut.
