Antique Six Panel Silk Thread Korean Screen. This antique Korean silk screen has six panels, each measuring 17 and one half inches wide and 60 inches tall. primarily on scroll printed paper, most likely rice paper in a wooden frame with black silk panels, hand embroidered with multicolored silk threads with different Korean symbols with a white paper backing, probably rice paper. Brass corners and fittings. This was given as a gift to the American Ambassador to South Korea from the early 1960's. It was presented to him by the S. There is a small charge for this service.  Turkish kilim from the Anatolian region. It is a tribal rug. A kilim is a flat-woven rug, usually of a geometric design, without pile. The metallic threads are probably brass or copper. It is highly unlikely that village weavers of very modest means would use gold. The metal threads are decorative and also provide reinforcement against wear. Kilims are much less durable than pile-woven rugs. The courting lovers are depicted in the Renaissance style, but the both the field and the borders lack the elaborate detail of the Renaissance period. The Latin words on the scroll are puzzling. Dei is God; Recaturiuus seems to be a proper name; and Nu translates to nod.The tapestry has retained much its rich original colors. Antique patchwork quilt Grandmothers flo

Wonderful crazy quilt. It is 65 x 73 inches. The quilt is made up of 9-5/8 inch crazy patch squares. The border design is applique. It is all hand work and very well done. On one of the pieces is embroidered "The threads of two lives are woven in one." In another area it is signed and dated in embroidery, "N.G.S Oct. 1889." The fabrics are satins, taffetas, and velveteens in prints, solis, plaids and checks. There are some condition issues. There has been no restoration. The backing fabric, a print satin or taffeta, is threadbare. There are worn or torn places throughout the quilt and a couple of places where the original fabric is missing almost entirely. There are also some places where the embroidery is missing. As you know, it is very hard to find wonderful, old crazy quilts, especially of this age. Although the quilt does have some condition problems, it is still beautiful and a rare find!  This is a extraordinary appliqued quilt in the Autumn Leaves pattern. The craftsmanship is wonderful! It is hand-quilted, appliqued and hand-stitched binding. The large background pieces are seamed by machine. The Autumn Leaves pattern gained popularity when it was seen at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933 at a quilt competition sponsored by Sears, Roebuck and Company. The background quilting on the white areas is a diamond pattern. The quilting on the peach areas is a random design. The hand-quilting is 9 - 10 stitches per inch and incredibly uniform and consistent. The predominant color is a lovely peach. The petals of the flowers are made of many, small floral prints. The quilt is approximately 88 x 88 inches and in excellent condition. There are a few small spots and a couple of small areas of discoloration.  This is a great, old quilt. The large quilt squares, formed by strips, creates an optical illusion as the colors in the squares create different looks. The quilt contains a multitude of old great old fabrics in blues, pinks, white, yellows, in plaids, prints, checks. The colors are more vibrant than they appear in the pictures. The close-ups are more accurate with respect to color.  This is a beautiful 9-patch quilt. The sashing is a sold-pink fabric and the 9 patch blocks are made up of print fabrics in many colors. The quilt is in excellent condition.

Antique needlepoint,Victorian needlepoint in original birdseye maple frame. This textile, needlepoint is probably English done around 1860. The hand done work is just fantastic done by some one that was highly skilled with the most beautiful execution of detail and design. The scene depicts two small children from the highlands in a landscape scene with blue sky, trees,and a feather in the little boys hand. The original birdeye maple frame measures 32" high by 26" wide. The needlepoint measures 21 1/2" by 26 3/4". This is with out a doubt one of the best mid to late 19th century hand done needlepoints we have handled. ATTENTION ! The hanging is made in two pieces of silk as shown. The overall fabric measures 38 X 38 X 7 ins. and has a red cotton attachment at the top with tie strings.  Early 19th century woven coverlet. Southern origin. Wool & cotton. Cochineal & natural indigo dyes, 32 epi, 40 epi. Single ply, weft binder, 2 ply warp. Wool is hand spun & dyed. Measures 95 " x 114" ( 8' x 9 1/2')

Early 19thC Antique Woven Coverlet South

Early 19th century American loom woven bed coverlet circa 1800 to 1820. Woven on a hand loom by an itinerant weaver. These men traveled by wagon with their looms from town to town. They wove coverlets to order in the housewife's choice of pattern, size, and color. This is a wool and linen reversible "summer winter" coverlet. The deep blue is natural indigo dye.
