This one may be unique. The basic design is known as "Old Maid's Patience" which is an all over pattern of eight pointed touching stars all of the same fabric. A superbly worked and imaginatively created individual design, pieced and appliqued quilt with extensive hand quilting including quilted daisies stitched at 7 stitches per inch. The batting is light weight, the stars measure 9-1/2" across, 60" X 78", circa 1930, in excellent original condition,(no tears, stains, fraying or thin fabrics), professionally washed. Cotton pieced quilt, look at it one way and it appears to be a pinwheel design, see it another way and it could be bow ties. We couldn't find the pattern in any reference, but suffice it to say that it is a well planned pattern in the tradition of American country quilts, with good looking feedsack prints and a coarse heavy muslin backing. This one is so sturdy you won't be afraid to use it, hand quilted at 5 stitches per inch, machine pieced and bound, 68" X 80", circa 1930, in excellent original condition, professionally washed. We accept time payments and quantity discounts. ** WE GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF OUR MERCHANDISE AS REPRESENTED.  This one may be unique. We could not find this pattern in the most comprehensive reference of quilt names and patterns. We'll call it "Marble Swirl" because that best describes it. It is comprised of 12" diameter swirling circles with a seemingly endless variation of colors and patterns, framed by radiating concentric circles that are approximately 1/2" apart, 8-10 stitches per inch, hand stitched, a remarkable amount of stitching. 67" X 80", perfect condition, no repairs, crisp, perhaps unused, professionally washed. circa 1940. "Country Garden" is the name given this pieced quilt pattern by the Stearns and Foster Co. which sold bedding and also sold quilt patterns to housewives during the 1920's-1930's. This is a fine example of a depression era "kit quilt" in a rare design with an Art Deco influence, hand sewn and very finely quilted with straight and diagonal lines at a remarkable 10-11 stitches per inch, circa 1930, 78"x 88", all cotton, professionally washed and in excellent original condition. For a similar example see TWENTIETH CENTURY QUILTS by Thomas K. Woodard. We accept time payments and quantity discounts. ** WE GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF OUR MERCHANDISE AS REPRESENTED. In different regions and at different times anyone of these names might have been used. The monkey wrenches are framed by classic "Nine Patches". The calico fabrics and brilliant solid blue background are all as fresh and bright as the day they were new. The hand stitched quilting is a very impressive 10 stitches per inch and done in the classic designs of the time; swags, tulips, conch shells and diagonal parallel lines. The batting is thin, the backing is in very good condition and shows minor discoloration (not dirt) at the fold lines. The one section of the backing that is a different shade of blue is most likely the result of the quilter's having run out of the brighter blue, as there is no evidence to suggest a repair. 76" X 90", Circa 1930, professionally washed. Hand embroidered cream linen bedspread with monogram early 1900s. This light cream linen bedspread measures 85 by 104 inches, it will fit a queen bed, the hems are hand stitched with a row of drawn work, at the top part that will cover the pillows is one monogram that reads FHP and in the center of a large hand embroidered floral cartouche is the same monogram only a bit larger. The hand embroidery is well done in cotton thread. There is one dime size group of little stains that will probably come out with another wash, the spread is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed and pressed it.  Beautiful, heavily hand embroidered linen bedspread circa about 1900. This linen bedspread measures 82 inches wide by 108 inches in length, it is shown on a queen bed. The spread has scalloped edges heavily hand embroidered with flowers, and leaflets with cutwork diamonds and swags, in the center is a hand embroidered cartouche in which one could have a monogram if desired. Beautiful handwork! The spread is made so that the top flips over the pillows and the embroidery will show right side up over the pillows. There are several small well done hand darns mostly in the bottom corners, the spread is otherwise in good condition, I have washed and pressed it.   Bates cotton bedspread circa early 1900s. This cream cotton bedspread measures 81 by 84 inches, design elements are floral with chrysanthemums and diamonds. The spread is signed Bates on the edges. There are 2 small stains, the spread is otherwise in very good condition, I have washed it so it is fresh and ready for use! these spreads also make great tablecloths as they are thick so offer excellent protection for the table top.  Antique cotton chenille bedspread, circa early 1900s. This white cotton bedspread measures 82 by 104 inches, the design is a wave or shell type, it reminds me of summer cottages at the beach. There is a quarter size light stain, the spread is otherwise in excellent condition, I have washed it so it is fresh and ready for use.
