This pattern is sought by Art Deco collectors for the horizontal lines and geometric nature of this pattern.

The cup and saucer is a handsome and practical piece of American Art Deco glass. If you DO want to serve a hot liquid in glass, remember the old Art Deco trick of placing a metal spoon in the cup and slowly pouring the hot liquid down the spoon so as not to shock the glass too much. It's not Pyrex, for goodness sakes!

The cup and saucer are in excellent condition. Add this amethyst Moderntone cup and saucer to your Deco collection today.

In California she continued her studies with Curtis Tann. Her combination of geometric and organic form in her designs culminated in her most celebrated abstract designs, her Jewel line which features pieces of glass used to create free-form organic shapes which she calls Jewels. She also uses a sgraffito technique, incising straight lines from the center of her plate with the sharp point of a dart. Now in her late 80s, she no longer produces work today as of 2011 I have been told.

This 7 3/4 inch diameter low bowl, most likely from the 1960-1961 time period, is a good example of an earlier Ghostline piece. This plate features 3 large yellow gold jewels and 3 smaller pumpkin orange jewels, all symmetrically arranged on the plate. The lines are under the Jewels. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Ghostline. This particular example is unusual in that the two colors of jewels used are not in high contrast to each other as on many of her pieces. Also, this shape bowl was often used in the earlier 1958-1959 period.

The back of the plate has the gold paper label and is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiial. I believe this particular version of the label predates the more common one with the black line. It reads Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre California. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish.

It is in excellent condition.

The work of Annemarie Davidson was included in the seminal exhibit titled Painting with Fire which opened in Jan 2007 at the Long Beach Museum of Art. She was one of 30 enamelists included with a one page entry on her life and work. Her page is page 266 of the catalogue.

Made by the Homer Laughlin Company only from February 1936 to 1945 with a producation period of only 9 years, this Harlequin turquoise oval baker is hard to find today. It is in very very good shape. The bowl measures 9 1/2 inches across and stands 2 inches high. It has great Deco styling and is a pratical and stylish piece today. I use a set of yellow individual salad bowls as my everyday dishes, great for salad, soups, pasta.

It is shown on page 236 of book titled Fiesta, Harlequin, Kitchen Kraft Dinnerware produced the the Homer Laughlin China Collectors Associatiion and published by Schiffer in 2000. The valuation at that time was $30-$33. My price is much less because I bought it very very reasonably.

It is in very good vintage condition with only a few light knife marks which can only be seen if you tip the bowl to the light. Good strong glazing.

Add it to your Homer Laughlin Art Deco Harlequin collection or American Art Deco era dinnerware collection today.  Good-bye New York Gene Doll Outfit, No. 93501, is from 1999 when Gene and her accessories were produced by Ashton-Drake Galleries. This 7 1/2 inch plate, most likely from the 1961-1962 time period features 3 large medium blue jewels and5 smaller cobalt blue jewels . The lines float over the Jewels. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Ghostline.

The back of the plate is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiails. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish. Though there are no chips to the rim or dents, there are some stress fractures in the piece as it was probably dropped once. You need to tilt the plate to the light to see them. Thus, I am offering this piece for just a few dollars more than I paid for it. It is still a great example of Davidson for the beginning collector.

The work of Annemarie Davidson was included in the seminal exhibit titled Painting with Fire which opened in Jan 2007 at the Long Beach Museum of Art. She was one of 30 enamelists included with a one page entry on her life and work. Her page is page 266 of the catalogue.  John Puskas was born in Cleveland in 1917. He received his training at the prestigious Cleveland Institute of Art, graduating in 1952. He studied with Kenneth Bates. His designs were sold throughout the country at prominent department stores, such as Marshall Field's in Chicago, Neiman Marcus in Dallas, Gump's in San Francisco, and Higbee's in Cleveland. He served as art consultant to Western Reserve University from 1950 to 1960 and taught art at Cuyahoga Community College from 1972 to 1984. As stated on page 272 of the catalogue which accompanied the ground-breaking 2007 exhibit on enamel entitled Painting with Fire organized by the Long Beach Museum of Art, enamel was Puska's preferred medium throughout his career.

His work was featured in the acclaimed Cleveland May Show (1938, 1940-42, 1950-2, 1954-58, 1966), the Wichita Decorative Arts and Ceramic Exhibition (1951) and the Syracuse Ceramic National (1951, 1954). Six of his enamels were panels and bowls were included in Enamels, the important 1959 survey at the Museum of Contemporary Crafts in New York. Among his favorites subjects were musical instruments, Cubist-inspired still lifes and interiors, and abstract compositions, of which this particular piece is a great example. Puskas was awarded the Creative Achievement Award by the Enamelist Society in 1999, two years prior to his death in 2001.

This 2 1/4 inch tall bowl measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter. It features a classical Greek Key pattern in green on a blue-green background. These seem to be preferred Puskas colors. Counter-enameled in a chartreuse and forest green, it is signed simply Puskas in the counter-enamel. It is in excellent condition.

The pattern is also shown on page 161 of the Bredehoft Second Edition book and listed there as having a value of $190. I have priced this toothpick holder considerably under that price as I bought it very reasonably.

It stands 2 1/8 inches tall x 2 inches wides. This holder is in excellent condition, with what we toothpick collectors consider normal rim roughness. It is unreasonable to expect a piece of glass which was made in 1893 and had household use to be exactly as it left the factory. The top rim has never been ground down on this one.

She also uses a sgraffito technique, incising straight lines from the center of her plate with the sharp point of a dart.

This 11 1/4 inch plate, most likely from the 1961-1962 time period, is unusual for its size. It is scarce to find plates larger than her more standard 6-7 inches. This plate features 5 large light blue jewels, 12 smaller cobalt blue jewels . The underlying copper color can be seen near the edges. A prominent Palm Springs CA dealer James Elliot-Bishop on his website has named this pattern as Grooveline.

What is interesting about this particular plate is the asymmetric placement of the jewels. Davidson was usually quite symmetric in her placement. There are few pieces where the smaller jewels appear singly as on this large plate.

The back of the plate is signed with her charcteristic AD interwined intiails and her paper label which reads Annemarie Davidson handcrafted enamels Sierra Madre California. Every piece was handcrafted by her alone, from start to finish. Excellent condition.

In the original 1929 catalog for the Catalonian line, there were three items having the raised knobs on them. Consolidated expanded this variation of the Catalonian line into a complete line of tableware as there are fifteen different shapes of tumblers and goblets alone.

This tumbler has a square base and a round top and holds 12 ounces. It is in excellent shape and a good example of this American Art Deco line.

Sparky is new and mint in the red, white, and blue box that goes with the modern Ginny dolls in the Ginny for President series when Sparky was his little mistress's running mate for vice president. Sparky comes with 4 additional campaign garments including a yellow hat to help woo the labor vote, a white with tan striped trim puppy covering, a red with black dots coat, and a red plaid coat. These coordinate with the outfits of the Ginny for President dolls and were only available at special Ginny events. He comes with a card sized certificate signed by Linda K. Smith, President of Vogue Dolls and Campaign Manager.  Helen Kish's 2011 14 inch Half Pipe Phoenix doll is from the Chrysalis collection and is ball jointed. He has painted green eyes, freckles and a bright red mohair wig with bangs. Half-Pipe Phoenix, so called because of his affinity with his blue skateboard that really do turn, is wearing black corduroy jeans with red topstitching, a white and grey tee-shirt with a graphic bird, a grey hoodie sweatshirt, with front zipper and silver detailing at the pockets and sleeves. It contains 44 pages with large print and color illustrations on each page. This was copyrighted by Macmillan, Inc. in 1988, and published by Lynx Books. The characters and drawings are based on the creations of Johnny Gruelle. The book is preowned and gently used. The cover is intact with only minor scrapes. The pages of the book are intact and in excellent condition. The book is meant for a young child to read, though it is also good to read to a child. In this book the dolls are temporarily moved to the attic while the playroom is painted. At first they are not too happy about being there. They end up acted out one of the stories that Raggedy Ann had read to them as a play and making the best of the situation. When the people are away the dolls, stuffed animals, and young animals come to life and talk and interact with one another in drawings like classical ones. Its ISBN number is ISBN 10: 1558021132.
