This vintage yellow Harlequin cat figurine is in excellent shape. These vintage Harlequin pieces are getting much harder to find. Add this one to your collection today.  Great shape to this yellow Harlequin sauceboat/gravy. Getting harder to find. I love the Art Deco styling of this piece. The piece is in excellent vintage condition. A reasonable price for a usable piece.  This Noritake Deco 6 1/4 inch wide lemon server has a great look! It is one of the most stylized Noritake designs I have seen.

The contrast of the primary colors of yellow and red is striking. The wild red, green, and black leaves with black outlines on the outside and cobalt blue outlines on the inside add unity to the piece and highlight the asymmetrically placed white blossoms .The piece is in excellent vintage condition. Red wreath mark in very good condition.

I guarantee this piece to be Noritake Art Deco.

I was a long time member of the Noritake Collectors Society (www.noritakecollectors.com). Not only were there ashtrays everywhere, but there was some delicious grapes on the dining room table. Not real grapes, mind you. But funky acrylic, yup, plastic grapes drilled and attached to a driftwood (also plastic). Lovely to look at just don't eat them!

I see these in many current TV ads in the background. There are two types in this 22 grape cluster. Clear amber but also swirled translucent amber grapes.

It is ready for your rec room coffee table or your Midcentury dining room table.  Taylor & Ng 1979 Elephants Orgy mug, designed by San Francisco potter and enamelist Win Ng and his partner in their consumer goods business.

The mug was Made in Japan but sold in San Francisco. This is part of his large Orgy series featuring different animals in compromising poses. The mug is done in a white color and the bears are outlined in a blue color.

There is a signautre of Taylor & Ng on the side of the mug. Signed and dated 1979. On the bottom is a large circular mark stating: JAPAN. It is in good vintage condition with no scratches to the colored parts, chips or cracks. However, there is staining in the inside, some glaze crazing near the handle and an area on the bottom where a chip but is was glazed over. This was probably sold as a second. I have priced the mug for condition.

These mugs are quite collectible on the West Coast.

Made by the Anchor Hocking Company in the 1960s, the Lido line is yet another of the popular crinkle glassware so prevalent at the time. Like the Morgantown Crinkle line , it features highly textured surface. What distiniguishes the Lido line is that the pattern does not go all the way up to the rim of the glass. It came in colors of Aquamarine, Avocado, Crystal, Honey Gold, Laser Blue, and Spicy Brown.

Anchor Hocking produced the "Milano" pattern from 1959 to 1963. The pattern name was then changed to "Lido" because subsequently the molds were remade by the Zanesville Mold Company in Ohio, a newly acquired Anchor Hocking Corporation subsidiary. The difference between the molds resulted in the `Milano' pattern name changing to "Lido." Although the two patterns are similar, the "Milano" pattern has a distinctive and more defined "crinkle" than "Lido". "Milano" was produced in Forest Green and Crystal only. In the Lido pattern the crinkle pattern does not extend all the way to the top of the glass. There is a clear rim at the very top.

This amber Iced Tea glass stands 7 inches tall and holds an amazing 22 ounces! Made for cold drinks of ice tea, kool-aid, or lemonade, it is easy to grip and looks great. A practical retro vintage design ready for your kitchen today.  Made by the Anchor Hocking Company in the 1960s, the Lido line is yet another of the popular crinkle glassware so prevalent at the time. The Noritake Company produced and exported thousands of items in hundreds of designs to the United State between 1921-1935. They had a design office in New York City where current design sources would be used to send ideas to Japan for the Noritake decorators to use. One of the most highly collected periods of Noritake production is from the 1921 - 1935 Art Deco period.

They are renowed worldwide for their dinnerware but had a whole division focused on what was then called "fancyware", items for household consumption decorated artistically. Though very reasonable in price when first sold, they are now collected by both collectors in the Western world as well as in Japan.

This octagonal bowl measures 7 1/4 inches in diameter. It stands 2 inches tall at the handle. It has two tab handles and one can see that the mold from which it came had some in relief scrolls at the rim. The entire rim of the bowl is decorated in 24 K gold. The three large clusters of flowers are placed asymmetrically on the plate, a revolutionary idea at the time. Another Art Deco common feature was the stylization of nature. The flowers and leaves are NOT painted in a realistic manner but are abstract and stylized.

Another Art Deco common feature was the use of what are called speed lines, which featured three lines in the bands which contrast from the geometric nature of the plate shape.

Noritake is well known for its luster glazes, the most common of which is tan luster. Their less common luster glazes are gold, silver, green, pearl, and yellow luster (also spelled lustre sometimes).

This bowl has only tan luster on it but it uses scarce colors of orange and crimson in the paint. It is in very good vintage condition with some very slight wear in the center but no loss of luster. The green Noritake Wreath mark indicates production between 1921-1925. Later the mark was in red.

This sherbet is in the Peacock Blue color, one of the harder colors to find in this line. It is in excellent condition and ready to join your Mid-century home as you serve lemonade or iced tea on the veranda or patio (such great mid century terms).

Produced by the Bryce Glass Company, this is a pair of 3 1/2 inch tall 7 oz. flat juice glasses in the Aqua Blue color.

Not much is known about Bryce's El Rancho production. It was made around the same time as Crinkle, Driftwood, and Lido, and is often confused with them.

This is a striking Bitossi Italy Rosenthal-Netter large planter designed by Aldo Londi in 1974. The planter stands 6 inches tall x 7 inches wide at its widest point. This vase is part of the Rosenthal-Netter line of imported Italian pottery and ceramics.

The pattern on this Aldo Londi creation is called Moderna Marocco which is the Italian word for Modern Morrocan. According to Mark Hall in his recent book on Italian Mid-century pottery, this line was inspired by the blossoming studio pottery movement of the 1970s. As Hill states, high quality designs such as this took longer to apply and were more expensive, making them rare today. Unusually, this design does not include sgraffito or impressed elements.

Excellent condition. When tapped, it rings solidly. Original Rosenthal-Netter paper label. A second label with the words Made in Italy stamped on one side in red and the numbers 266/15. I have two other pieces from this line with labels. All have the line number of 266/. I have to conclude that the 15 is the shape number and the 266 is the number for Moderna Marocco.

In the Mark Hill book, the 10 inch version of this rare vase on page 72 is valued at 300-500 pounds. My price for the planter in this rare pattern is a bit more reasonable.

The pattern on this Aldo Londi creation is called Spagnolo which is the Italian word for Spanish. According to Mark Hall in his recent book on Italian Mid-century pottery, this line was inspired by Moorish tiles. The form is a traditional Italian form but the decoration is pure Mid-century.

Good vintage condition but there is some damage which is why I marked it as is. On the underside of the lip of the top rim, there is one small area where the glaze has flaked off. The body of the pottery is not damaged but the glaze flake is evident. I never repair or touch up my items so you may if you wish.

This vase without damage is valued at over 100 pounds in Mark HIll's recent book on Mid-century Italian pottery. With the glaze flake I am happy to pass it along for a little more than what I paid.

The bottom carries a standard Bitossi mark. The shape number 27071. The word Italy is impressed in the base. This Taylor & Ng mottled surface bamboo handle teapot was designed by San Francisco potter and enamelist Win Ng and his partner in their consumer goods business.

I would estimate that the teapot holds 6 cups. The surface is a high gloss glaze, perhaps even a crystal glaze over a mottled underglaze. The handle is bamboo with wrapped bamboo accents. On the bottom it has a paper label which states simply Taylor & Ng Japan.

It is in excellent condition with no damage visible. The top has no damage and closes tightly.

Terry Crider started his glasswork in 1976. He is self taught. This studio glass artist has put out a limited amount of work over the past 36 years. He uses NO MOLDS and his only help has been his wife Donna who was responsible for all the finish work on the pieces. I had an email from Terry and Donna a few years ago stating that he doesn't think it would be fair to the collectors to make any of the same things again. They have decided, if they do make glass again, they are not going to make anything that they have made in the past. He made glass part time from 1988-2000.

In 2005, he began again to produce a limited amount of glass. He's a great artist with VERY few early pieces out there. This toothpick is in mint condition and is signed Crider 1978.

This Crider pale white opal base glass features an early vertical pulled lines decoration. The pulled lines are in a lavender purple glass which is also used to case the interior of the piece . It is totally iridized. It's hard to imagine the amount of work that went into this beautiful, hand made toothpick holder.

This little toothpick holder stands about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches high at its highest point. It is a fantastic piece of American art glass! It is in perfect condition. It is signed Crider 1978.

I am a long time member and past President (1988) of the National Toothpick Holder Collectors Club. I guarantee the authenticity of this TP. For more info on toothpick holders as a great collectible, visit the National Toothpick Holder Collectors Society web page at (www.nthcs.org)  From the Martelé line, this 4 inch tall x 8 1/4 inch long x 3 5/8 inches wide Olives vase made by the Consolidated Glass Company of Coraopolis PA is an example of the Reuben line. It is decorated with a very light blue ceramic wash, highlighting the frosted glass olives, vines, and leaves. In 1933, while Consolidated was closed due to union difficulties (April 2, 1932 - March 1936), Kenneth Haley moved many of the molds belonging to his famous father Reuben Haley over to the Phoenix Glass Company where Kenneth worked. There, he produced glass from these molds and used finishes of the Phoenix Glass Company instead of the finishing techniques of the Consolidated Glass Company. These were part of a line he called the Reuben Line in honor of his father who died in 1933. The Reuben line carries its own paper label: a yellow paper oval with the words Phoenix and REUBEN-LINE at the bottom of the label.

This vase is very heavy, a substantial piece of glass. It is in excellent condition with regards to its staining and color. However, there is a 1/4 inch flake on one side of the top rim (see photo) .

It is great American Art Deco art glass. Add it to your Art Deco or Consolidated glass collection today.

Come learn more about this glass at the Phoenix & Consolidated Glass Collectors Club website: www.pcgcc.org  Each of the four glasses in this set stands6 7/8 inches tall x 2 1/2 inches across the top. Each holds 16 ounces. Each has frosted glass on the sides and a clear bottom. Each is signed with the F in the shield mark of the Federal Glass Company.

There are three different decorations visible on this set of four. Two have a pear, cherry, orange over a cluster of grapes. One has pineapple slices and three cherries over an orange slice over a basket of berries. The third variation is a lime and a lime slice over strawberries and cherries over a lemon slice over some leaves and a grapefruit and slice.

What a fun funky and festive set of glasses. Wipe up a pitcher of sangria or just some iced tea, grab a tray and head for the patio or veranda. All are in excellent condition with strong colors and no damage to the silkscreened designs. Price is for the set.

Alvino Bagni (1919-2000) founded Bagni Ceramiche in Lastra a Signa in August 1946. During the 1950s and 1960s he worked closely with Irving Richards of Raymor, the American distributor, as well as with their competitor, Rosenthal-Netter. The United States became Bagni’s largest market with over 80 percent of the company’s production going there. Thousands of modern designs were produced over four decades. Though it is not possible to categorize Bagni’s work easily, the wax-resist technique, impressed geometric shapes, mottled brown or green glazes and high-relief geometric forms applied to the surface are hallmarks of his work. Many designs were also glossily glazed in bright colors in simple stylized patterns such as banding or swirling lines. (Mark Hill, Alla Moda).

Red clay was used from the late 1940s-1950s, before a finer white clay was used. Bagni considered his "Sea Garden" design to be his version of Londi’s Rimini Blu design. The factory closed in 1992.

As far as signatures, production destined for Raymor or Rosenthal-Netter was often marked in different ways. The first and most common Bagni for Raymor mark is a painted mark comprised of an ‘R’ for Raymor, followed by a three or four digit number. This number is probably Raymor’s internal stock number. The second way is a Raymor paper label printed with ‘BAG’ and a similar number. Some Bagni pieces for Rosethal-Netter were marked with two digits, followed by a slash, followed by two digits. This was often accompanied by a paper label (Mark Hill, Alla Moda, page 216)

This Bagni vase is signed 30/3 Italy. The underglaze is done is a crackled glaze, an imitation of a famous Chinese glaze, and the predominant color of the glaze is a white with a spiral pattern of green, turquoise and cobalt blue rectangles. The inside is the same green used on the outside.. It is in excellent vintage shape with the exception of two pinpoint flakes to the glaze on the top rim. There is no damage to the body under the missing part of the glaze. All in all, it is in very good vintage shape for its 40 years.

The vase stands 8 inches tall x 5 inches at its widest point. Add it to your collecton of Midcentury Italian pottery, Raymor or Bagni today.

Made by well-known Californian glass artist David Salazar, this contemporary art glass toothpick holder is one of the few David made that is based on the 2009 NTHCS Convention holder. David Salazar got his start with the Zephyr Studios before working at Lundberg Glass Studios in the early 1970s and went out on his own around 1983. He is particularly well known for his Moon & Star pattern as well as his paperweights and marbles. This example is signed and dated 7-10 Salazar.

This toothpick holder stands 2 3/8 inches tall and is 1 3/16 inches across the top rim. The base glass is clear but it has been sprayed with mineral salts in the tradition of Art Nouveau Tiffany or Steuben glass. The resulting surface has overtones of purple, blue, rose and gold. The design of swirls is known as the King Tut pattern. It is in excellent condition. A great example of great glass by a great contemporary glass artist.

It has what is known as a Lazy Amberina portion wherein the division between the amber glass and the heat-sensitive red glass is not delineated neatly but flows further down on one side than the other.

The color is a deeper brownish amber than what Phoenix Glass company produced. As well, the foot does not have the continuation of the optic pattern of the body.

It is my best guess that this piece is of European origin, most likely English or French.

In any case, it is a beautiful piece of Victorian art glass. The holder is in excellent condition with no chip, flakes, or cracks. There are some small bubbles in the glass body but it was manufactured that way.
