Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this 4 inch tall #20 shape vase is from his early studio period as it has a heavily mottled blue overglaze and a deep chocolate underglaze which can be clearly seen on the interior of the piece. A recessed base is another early feature as well as the long trailing tail of the letter d of the word Ballard. Excellent condition  Vermont Studio potter Stanley Ballard (1917-1960) graduated from Alfred University’s highly respected Ceramic Program in 1939, having studied there while these influential teachers were part of the faculty: Marion Fosdick, Charles Harder, Clarence Merritt, and C. This was sold to me as Indian Pottery. I know nothing about Indian pottery other than I loved the design. It is signed on the bottom but hard to read.I think it is Alfreda Poleahla,HOPI Indian. I researched this some on the internet. It is in good condition. It has been used as a service item not just display. It is about 3inches; tall and 5 inches; in diameter.  Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this unusual decorated #19 vase carried the standard incised Ballard signature and the original price in pencil of $2.50.

It measures 5 1/2" tall. The design on the front of the vase is of mountains and pine trees done in a dark blue glaze. The rim of the vase has also been traced over in the same blue glaze color, giving it an almost violet effect. The back is plain. This is the only item I have yet seen with this decoration. Excellent condition  This Abingdon blue console bowl has two acanthus leave molded handles on either side. It has a fluted top rim and a high gloss blue glaze. It measures 11" length x 7 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches tall. It is signed with the Abingdon USA mark in Capital letters in a rectangle and has the incised 564 number. The base is fully glazed. No chips or cracks but there are some faint brown stains on the bottom on the interior so this piece was obviously used for its original intent - a planter. Now add it to your Abingdon collection today.  This Design Cooperative piece from David Gil's early Bennington Vermont studio carries a small rectange around fork mark. It measures 8 inches to top of top ring handle and features Gil' s trademark double trigger ring handles which he created in 1953.

I believe it was designed as a coffee server, although there are eight holes on the body of the pot right on the side where the spout is found. So, perhaps it was a cold beverage server also. Done in an early seafoam glaze, it is in excellent condition.
