This large Noritake Nippon cake plate measures a little over 10 inches across from top to bottom and almost 11 inches from the tip of the handle to the other handle. It is a standard Noritake shape, but it is unusual to see it NOT signed with the post-1921 Noritake mark but with an earlier purple M in wreath mark. I would place this piece in the 1920-1925 time period before the company consciously adoped Art Deco motifs, colors and styling.

It is very practical and functional piece of china and is ready for your holiday table. The cream color band would complement many contemporary Noritake dinnerware patterns. The four floral cartouches are all hand-painted. The more Victorian motif of prunus flower blossoms are done in 24K gold and form a basket shape around the floral cartouches. There were most likely 6 smaller cake plates which went with this cake plate.

It is in excellent vintage shape. Add it to your Nippon or Noritake collection today.  Stamped with the Green Wreath mark indicating the Noritake China Company, this well executed scenic vase stands 4 1/2 inches tall at the top of the two brown enameled dot decorated handles.

What is unusual about this Nippon vase is that in order to view the complete scene depicted, one needs to have the vase with one corner toward oneself. I think it was decorated this way as to better look like a painting on a canvas. The foreground features a blue and pink prunus flower and the background features a lake scene with a tree in the middle ground. The matte finish gives it a soft romantic quality.

It is in excellent condition and was made between the 1891 - 1921 period. Add it to your Nippon or Noritake collection today.  This 12 inch wide stunning Nippon charger is signed with the #10 crown mark, as shown in the Van Patten books. It is in excellent condition and appears unused. It features beautiful tones of purple and green as a background to the boat sitting serenely at rest near the shore. This is a large piece of Japanese decorative art. Add it to your Nippon or even Noritake collection today.  This Nippon cylinder shape Toothpick holder stands 2 1/4 inches tall and features a moriage decorated rim of brown leaves with green slip outline, pink berries and black traling vines. It carries the blue rising sun mark. It has 24K gold rim and bottom band. The blank had relief scrolls across the bottom. Excellent condition.

This signed Nippon 7 1/2" vase is interesting as well as beautiful. Carrying the green wreath mark, it must be from around 1918-1921 before the mark changed to the Noritake green wreath mark. Though the shape of a double gourd vase is an older style, the decoration surely isn't!

Four vertical bands with a black background and light green leaves and delicate pastel pink poppy blossoms, all gold traced alternate with four white vertical panels in which 24K gold garlands and draping of gold blossoms are done in heavy gold. It looks like the same prunus blossoms which would later decorate Noritake's famous White & Gold pattern of dinnerware in the 1921-1925 period.

This piece has some normal wear to the gold on the rim and corresponding decorative bands on the throat of the vase, but there is no paint loss at all. The heavy gold flowers remain lustruous. All in all, a very interesting piece of Japanese decorative art from the Noritake company in its Nippon period.

I am a long time member of the Noritake Collectors Society. Come read about our great club, our newsletter and consider joining us in our appreciation and pursuit of Noritake!  International Nippon Club 1983 pinback button from Second Annual convention held July 15-17 1983, given to attendees of the Turf Inn Albany New York convention. Measuring 2 1/4' in diameter, this pin features the phrase 'I love Nippon' but the word love is represented with the famous heart symbol (a take off of the famous NY State ad jingle). Also, a 4' tall clear glass candy jar given away at the same convention. These belonged to my parents who were members of the Nippon club at the time. I am a member of the Noritake Collectors Club.
