Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: 1930's
Condition: Very Good
Manufacturer: Stanley U.S.A.
Offering this nice clean Stanley Bailey No 5 Jack Plane Type 16 with the corrigated bottom, dated 1933-41; blade is marked Stanley, made in USA, and the cap cover is marked STANLEY in raised cast lettering. The plane is in very good useable condition with some wear on the original black Japanning, but over 90% still intact; bare metal surfaces good++ condition, no chips, no cracks, very few minor scratches or wear, some small areas of minor staining on the exterior side wall of the bed casting.  Very good chip breaker, and the blade is sharp. The 2 inch wide blade is very clean, ready to work, no cracks or chips; cutter is over 80% intact and sharp. The rosewood handle (tote) is solid and clean; with very little wear, nice finish, maintains about 99% of it's original shape. There is the remains of an old Stanley Tools advertising sticker on one side of the tote.  In this era, Stanley lacquered the rosewood on both the tote and knob, and as you can see in the pictures, both are in very nice shape, shiny and smooth, both have some minor dings, both are solid no cracks. Overall condition is very good, very clean, sharp and ready to work, a very nice looking plane!
