The Decade of Diana
People Magazine put out an "Extra" edition in the fall of 1990, devoted to Diana and the extended House of Windsor. Produced in regular issue style, complete with advertisements, this is 136 pages, soft-cover with staple binding. As the publisher says, Being royal means never having to say you're sorry. With that attitude in mind, People Magazine took a look at the House of Windsor going back as far as the Hanoverians in 1714, but revving up pretty quickly to our current set of Royals, and the impact that Diana had on people's perception. Included are looks at Queen Mother Mary, Prince Edward, Prince Charles as future leader and as husband, Princess Anne, the Queen herself, her royal consort, Diana as bride, mother, fashionista and Most Valuable Princess, plus some of the more interesting of the extended family, Princess Michael, Princess Marina, Princess Margaret, and more of the line of succession. The magazine was published prior to Diana's divorce and death, so it does not include any of those details, and there are only a few photos of the royal sons, who were quite young in 1990.
The magazine is in pristine condition, complete with those irritating drop-out advertisement cards and original mailing label.

Acting Hollywood Style
Large format (9 x 11-3/4 inches) soft-cover book on the art of acting in the movies. Loaded with color and b&w photos, the author, Foster Hirsch, looks at how screen acting developed very differently from stage acting. Starting with a photo of Greta Garbo, staring moodily out to see in Queen Christina, Hirsch explores the acting tradition in chapters titled "Tools of the Trade", "Body Language", "The Landscape of the Face", "The Rustle of Language", "Starstruck", and "Imitations of Life". I found the book reallyl interesting, loaded with information about how the actor and the camera can achieve so much that the average movie-goer doesn't really notice, but catches subliminally. Fascinating reading, tons of photos. The book is in excellent, like-new condition, spine unbroken, no marks. 228 pages, published in 1991.
