Hall Golden Glo 5 Band Jug Pitcher
Hall Golden Glo 5 Band Jug Pitcher 5 inch Tall Excellent 22 Carat Gold 1940s to 1970s.
Decorative HALL CHINA 5 BAND JUG, Golden Glo 22 CARAT GOLD all over outer side with the White Interior, circa late 1940s to 1970s from East Liverpool, Ohio, USA.
This features the shiny, bright 22 carat gold which Hall introduced as Golden Glo in the late 1940s. This color is very difficult to photograph due to the highly reflective color. The surface is truly mirror like.
The condition of this jug is superb. However there is a gold Rub on one side towards the center. This is the best example of Golden Glo I have seen.
6 1/2 inch across handle to spout with a maximum diameter of 4 1/2 inch. It has a height of 5 inch.
Notes: When the East Liverpool Potteries Company was dissolved in 1903, Robert Hall, one of the principals, formed Hall China Company. After his untimely death in 1904, his young son, Robert Taggert Hall took over and made it his mission to rediscover the long lost process from the Ming Dynasty of producing a non lead based glazed china using a single fire process. He succeeded by 1911 creating the craze proof finish for which Hall China became famous for over 100 years. Hall China remained in the extended Hall family until they merged with Homer Laughlin China Company across the river in Newell, West Virginia, the manufacturer of Fiesta. Hall China is still in production today operating in their original facility on Anna Avenue. The mark on the bottom of this item is Hall China Company with Hall in Circle, Golden Glo, Warranted 22 Carat Gold #894. The 5 Band shape was introduced in 1936. Golden Glo was introduced in the 1940s. Pieces made after 1970 have the square backstop which this jug does not have. That dates this jug to the late 1940s to 1970.
