Neolia Cole North Carolina Pottery Covered Coffeepot
Signed North Carolina Pottery Covered Coffeepot or Ice Pitcher by Neolia Cole. Neolia Cole is the daughter of A.R. Cole who started Rainbow Pottery around 1926 and then renamed it A.R. Cole Pottery in 1941. Neolia and sister, Celia continued to operate the pottery as Cole Pottery since that time. This Coffeepot or Pitcher (both descriptions are used in A. Everette James book of NC Art Pottery) measures 7 3/4'' tall and 7 1/2'' wide spout to handle. The under glaze is a soft, blue/gray with a blended black drip over glaze. The bottom has the Cole Pottery, Sanford, NC stamp. It also has a handwritten message, Love Neolia Cole, 2-6-85, Sanford, N.C., ''Happiness is Sharing'' and ''North or Southview'--can't read that part. Excellent condition. This is a wonderful example of hand turned North Carolina pottery by a very talented potter.

Signed Hand Turned North Carolina Pottery Pitcher
Signed Hand Turned North Carolina Pottery Pitcher decorated in varied shades of browns over a red clay base. This pitcher is marked on the bottom with a large M? or AM (cannot be sure) and long straight line incised into the clay. The date number 82 is also incised. The previous owner said this pitcher was purchased from the Coles' Pottery Shop in North Carolina in the 1980s and believed it was one of their pieces. The overall look is more of an Oriental Raku appearance with a brushed, nubby texture of the glaze, accented with a rich, chocolate brown glossy over glaze. Pitcher measures 8 1/4' tall and 7 1/4'' wide spout to handle. There is a spot where the spout was pinched (hand shaped) where the glaze is not as even. Very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. This unique pitcher will make a nice addition to a North Carolina pottery collection.
