595-6
Sterling Lady Art Nouveau Scarf Pin Who doesn't admire the lovely ladies depicted throughout the Art Nouveau period? This scarf pin, which measures just over 2-1/2 inches, still has a perfect pin point; however, the shaft has a small stress bulge with various nicks. The head looks as if it may have been gold over sterling but the pin is marked Sterling and has a B with a sword running through it, a mark I am not familiar with. These pieces are rather difficult to find. Book value $165 - tell me what you want to pay to bring it home.

All my jewelry is vintage or antique previously worn jewelry for the most part. For this reason I try to include close-up photos for your examination, but please feel free to ask questions before you make your purchase.

595-3
Chinese Silverwork Pin With Ivory Carving I've seen more of the silver and enamel jewelry work come out of China, but I have here another unique find. This pin is two sided, with a honeycomb filigree backing, and an elaborate notch scroll work front. It is not marked, but looks like a gold wash over silver with some finish wear visible with a loupe. In the center is a carved ivory Chinamen that is prong set. I'm guessing at the age, putting it between 1930-1950. It looks like it may have been pained in some areas, such as the eyes and belt, that have long since faded. This is a terrific piece of Asian artwork. Book value $75 - tell me what you want to pay to bring it home.

Aurora Borealis Drop Crystal Earrings This pair of Aurora Borealis crystal earrings is screw backs made to look pierced. They dangle 1-1/4 inches and display wonderful color. You will notice in the photo that one of the back pins sits cockeyed. It works fine and appears to have been that way from the time it was manufactured, or soon after. Book value $55 - tell me what you want to pay to bring them home.

Click for more detail...
334-1
Beaded Miriam Haskell Contempory Necklace A more contemporary Haskell piece done in an African beaded style. The necklace is 17 inches and has a large brass center piece. The brown, orange and yellow beads are ceramic, the green carved look like soap stone, and brass spacers. The coloring is truer to the close-up bead photos.

Made during the seventies when Larry Vrba was the designer for the firm. I've rated it in good condition rather than excellant due to surface scratches on the center piece. They are not really visible, but want to mention it. An interesting note is that the bracelet to this design line is a book piece that is valued at $300.

492-40
Precious Rhinestone Cherry Pin The moment I spotted this stupendous pin I knew it was special. I finally came across a piece like it that was marked Butler & Wilson. Fruit and vegetable jewelry has become a tough category to find, as there are so many collectors out there, and I know the minute I sell this I'll be sorry I did. In any case I can't keep it all, and I have to leave some of the nice pieces for you, right?

This clump of cherries depicts three stages of ripeness from red to blush. At a close look, the stones are fantastic on this piece and all original. Book value of $95.

498-2
Moss Agate Pin in Three Tone Gold Set Here's a highly appreciated piece of jewelry that usually comes with a high price tag as well. Moss agate pieces have climbed in popularity over the years. This sweet pin gives the appearance of an island shoreline. It's set in a 1-1/4" by 7/8 inch rose, green and yellow gold plated oval with delightful floral motif. It also has a unique closure that works half a turn of the C clasp. Book value 85.

354-37
Spectacular Native American Silver Cuff, Marked This is a large two inch wide Native American silver cuff with turquoise and coral. The inlay motif of a bird in flight is taken from nature, with one on each side. It is marked HMIJ, T. A very small sample of this type of work is in one of my price guides for $70. I recently saw a collection of these big Native American bracelets, with one like this in reverse stone colors for $800. You won't do better than this price!

Click for more detail...
522-3
Art Nouveau Poppies in Sterling Cloisonne This is a delightful example of the relatively hard to find enameled Art Nouveau piece. This pin, done in the popular poppy motif, is English made in the mid 1920's. Completely hallmarked "Genuine Cloisonné with the English crown, W.S. Sterling". It is in fantastic condition with only a pin head prick of enamel missing along the outer ridge that is not noticeable unless examined closely; which I have tried to show in a close up view. The pin does not have the same black patina that the back does, but it does not look as if it had been replaced. Cleaning is left up to the new owner (there is some glue residue on the back from an old price tag). Vivid colors of peach, green, and white give the look of a spring garden. Book value $225 - tell me what you want to pay to bring it home.

599-1
Celluloid Hand with Red Nails and Jewelry This hand pin has lovely long figures with the nails painted red. There is no chipping; wish my nail polish would last so long! It's adorned with a ring and bracelet of metal and paste stones. The pin back is in perfect condition as well. Book value $165 - tell me what you want to pay to bring it home.

This early piece of celluloid is found in the reference books. Rather crudely made, I doubt the manufacturers ever dreamed these pins would be selling at the prices they do now.

595-2
Figural Mother-of-Pearl Turtle Pin Figural pins have always been popular. The turtles were big sellers back in the early part of the 1960's. This one is not the norm, however, with its mother-of-pearl back stone. The brass plated body has lovely etching and his eyes are red rhinestones. He could use a bath to bring out more sparkle, but other than that he's in excellent condition. Book value $85 - tell me what you want to pay to bring him home.

518-1
Huge Schiaparelli Watermelon Earrings These Schiaparelli earrings come from one of the more widely know sets. The huge stones in the earrings were only duplicated as a single drop from a rhinestone bracelet, and the necklace only had the small rhinestones.

They are so large, I couldn't get both of them into a close-up frame shot. I leave cleaning up to the new owners, and I can see by the close-ups these would look even better after a light bath. They were worn often by the original owner, as they deserve to be, as you can tell from the plate loss to the backs. There is also a small chip on one of the facets, but nothing that will hinder the loads of comments you are bound to receive when wearing them. Book value $225.

400-2
Total Brass Rhinestone Choker and Earring Set I have never seen a rhinestone choker like this one. I do LOVE to say that, as it is my goal to bring you unique, special pieces. It is made of brass, which in itself is not unusual, as they frequently were but then always plated. On this necklace even the sockets on the complete chain are brass, both bottoms and sides, with no evidents of plating wear, suggesting it was never plated. It is an old piece from the 30's and measures 14 inches. The stones are sharp and twinkling, with only one starting to show signs of darkening. Book value $200.

The earrings are clips and are 1-2/8" across and are more recent, dating to the late 50's. The rhinestones are enough to blind a person! - and are set on a filigree backing and glued into sockets. If you want to shine, this set will accomplish your goal. Book value $200.

Gorgeous Miriam Haskell Crystals Necklace Not just a choker, but a real necklace at 22 inches, this piece is a jewel! Dainty in appearance with the gold metal spacers, the crystals are a vibrant Auroea Borealis which dates it to the 1950's. The end hook is the Miriam Haskell dove, which although not as rare as the turtle, you don't see it that often. Book value $425.

371-11
Unusual Gutta-Percha Daffidill Cameo This is a lovely Gutta-Percha cameo in mint condition. I have never seen a cameo with daffodils. That was my favorite flower when I was real young, and this piece depicts them well. It is raised half an inch in height with the flowers bent in various directions. As with all my inventory I leave the cleaning up to the new owner, and this piece needs a light touch as it's a little dusty. Book value $195.
