1952

Advertising Wood Bowling Ball Pin Key Chain Keychain Souvenir Nifty vintage find out of a home. This is an old wood and metal key chain or keychain. It has a small black wood bowling ball and a small medium brown varnished wood bowling pin, both of which are movable or can move along the old-style metal ball chain. The bowling pin has black printing on it which states, "Ardmore Rec. Centre, Phone ARD.3953". The Rec. Centre we believe is short for Recreation Centre (Center). From the style and phone number listing we guess this dates to the 1950s, but don't know that for certain. There is no manufacturer or country of origin marking on this piece.

We believe this to be an advertising and/or souvenir piece but are not certain exactly the location which is being advertised. Since this came out of a home in Pennsylvania, our first thought is that the Ardmore Recreation Centre was a location in nearby Ardmore, PA, near to but west of Philadelphia. We could not find an internet listing for an Ardmore Rec. Centre here, but did see listed an Ardmore Avenue Community Center in Ardmore, PA, so perhaps Ardmore Recreation Centre was an older name for that facility, we don't know. However, we did find a listing for an Ardmore Recreation Centre at Ballynahonemore Rd, Armagh BT60 1JD, UK. Perhaps this was a souvenir picked up by someone on a trip to England (Great Britain, the United Kingdom) many years ago, in which the person visited this facility? While they may not have played American style ten pin bowling at this facility, maybe the ball and pin here are meant to depict items from British lawn bowling. We don't know for sure where this advertised Ardmore Rec. Centre was located, and would appreciate any information shared by other eBayers.

The wood bowling pin measures 1 3/4 inches in length, with the wood bowling ball about 1/2 inch in diameter. As you can see in one image, the metal chain can be unhooked from the latch so that a key could be added, and then re-hooked. This is a light-weight item, weighing under 1 ounce. We believe the metal chain is brass since a magnet does not stick to this, but don't know that for certain.

We've provided 6 images to try and show from all angles. The camera lighting creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent overall condition. There may be a tiny bit of flaking/chipping along the bottom of the bowling pin, we're not sure, but definitely nothing large or major. We can see some minor wood chipping/lines where the metal chain goes through the bowling pin and where it goes through the bowling ball, but we think these are as made and nothing to worry about. There is other expected minor age wear via scratches, some dirt, and other wear on the wood surfaces, but nothing bad here at all. The metal chain shows expected age wear via darkening, surface wear, etc., nothing bad.

A neat old addition to a collection related to bowling, and perhaps a location souvenir collection related to either Ardmore, PA or Armagh in the United Kingdom.

Click for more detail...

2068

Vintage Mini Liquor Bottle Flask Orlando Cherry Brandy England Empty Neat empty vintage collectible miniature liquor bottle found out of a home for Orlando Cherry Brandy. In the shape of a small flask, about 3 1/16 inches tall x 2 3/8 inches wide x 7/8 inch deep. This has an open top, with no cork or other closure present, as gotten out of the home.

Appears to be made of pottery or ceramic, with flat top shoulders in a somewhat curved rectangular shape. There are in mold ridges or bands near the top and bottom of the bottle (more visible on the back side than the front due to the front graphic). On the back is also a molded raised circle. Please note that this circle appears to be chipped at the bottom but that was done during manufacture, since the full area is covered with the original surface glazing as made, so this is a manufacturing imperfection.

The base bottle coloring is an ivory color with a multi-color graphic on the front side and manufacturer markings on the back side. The graphic is a scene from the 1700's or 18th century London, England, showing a woman and man who is walking a dog (which we think is a dalmatian given the black spots) on a cobblestone street. At the very bottom in script the graphic is labelled "Cries of London - Who'll Buy My Lavender", and the woman is holding in her hand and arm what must be lavender stalks/flowers. There is a city building background visible behind the figures. On the back within a rectangle is printed "Orlando Cherry Brandy, 42 Proof", then a name in script which we can't decipher, followed by "Registered Trade Mark, Aidee Liqueurs, Palm Road, Torquay, England". We believe there are some impressed numbers on the underside base, but we can't read them (this is faint).

We don't know when this was made, but from some internet research this may be from the 1950's-1970's, so a mid-century 1900's piece. The underside base shows darkening which would be consistent with this age.

We've provided 8 images to show from varied angles. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surface. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely. This old bottle flask weighs about 2 1/2 ounces unpacked, and will be shipped in a box to arrive safely.

Very good vintage condition. Please see manufacturing flaw referenced earlier. The ivory colored areas of this bottle are fully crazed, but the crazing is largely not visible on the graphic front side (we can see it in the ivory or light areas such as the apron of the lady's dress and on the dog but not really visible elsewhere). Consistent with its age there is some age wear, including some brown spotting, medium dark dots, two scratches visible on the lady's apron/dress (but we are not noticing scratches elsewhere, and these aren't bad but visible), and other general light wear, but nothing unexpected or bad.

A nifty vintage small or miniature liquor bottle to add to your collection.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2218: Vintage Wedgwood China Columbia Demitasse Cup & Saucer Bond Green

Click for more detail...

2218

Vintage Wedgwood China Columbia Demitasse Cup & Saucer Bond Green Attractive vintage Wedgwood Bone China demitasse cup & saucer in the Columbia pattern. We believe the shape of this cup with its straight, flat sides is called the bond shape. We have just one of these cup & saucer sets and no other pieces of this pattern, as received out of a home.

Clean, crisp white bone china, these pieces are porcelain as they are translucent. They are decorated with an elegant floral and winged bird/creature, along with an intertwining scrolled design and other lining and green edging. The creatures and scrolled designs are in a yellow and brown coloring, with the flowers in pink, purple, blue, yellow & green.

Fully marked on the underside bases of each piece with the Wedgwood urn insignia in black along with "Wedgwood, Bone China, Made in England". There are also some letters and numbers in colored paint, along with what we think is the pattern number "W595".

Round saucer measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter with a lowered center section and broad flat shoulders, sitting about 9/16 inch in height. The cup alone sits about 2 1/4 inches in height with an upwardly curved side handle. Greatest width with the handle is about 3 1/8 inches, with a top opening diameter of 2 1/4 inches. Together these pieces sit about 2 1/2 inches in height and weigh slightly over 6 ounces unpacked.

We've provided multiple images to show varied sides and some close-ups. Please note that the camera causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth glossy surfaces and at times "blands" out some of the detail, particularly with the white base color. So we've included a few images shot without the camera light. These appear darker but can help to show some detail better. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. These pieces do not look used as we don't see scratches or use wear, but we can't guarantee that. It does look to us like the brown scroll design areas and the yellow on the winged creatures have some wear/paint wear, as these do not always look as full in color or line as we would expect, but we think this could be from handling/washing over time, or perhaps as made, we don't know. There are a few pin dots of white in the green paint trim which could be dots of wear or as made also. Still nothing you would notice on display or in use. The underside of the saucer has one spot that is not fully glazed as made.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2229: Vintage Royal Crown Derby Olde Avesbury Trinket Cigarette Box Lid Only

Click for more detail...

2229

Vintage Royal Crown Derby Olde Avesbury Trinket Cigarette Box Lid Only Lovely lid for the Royal Crown Derby Olde Avesbury pattern box, trinket box or cigarette box. This is a vintage piece which came out of a home and they had the lid only, no base, but perhaps you are looking for a lid or to replace the lid for a base that you already own.

Topside this has the lovely pattern of birds in a tree along with flowers, branches & leaves, done largely in earth tone colors of brown, yellow, red, green & pink with gold line trim around the outer top edge. This lid is slightly domed, curving upward from the sides, measuring about 1/2 inch in total height at the highest part when sitting flat on a table. The lid is a rounded rectangular shape with curved corners and has a smaller, lowered base rim to fit nicely into the base of the box. This looks to have been made with a brown transfer design having hand painting for the other colored and gold areas.

About 4 1/4 inches in length and 3 11/16 inches in width for the longest, upper portion measurements. The inner lower base is about 3 11/16 inches in greatest length and 3 1/8 inches in width. This vintage box lid piece is porcelain or bone china as it is translucent. It is a nice white base china, fully white on the underside. Weighs about 3 ounces unpacked.

The under base is fully marked with the Royal Crown Derby logo, under which it states "Made in England" and the pattern name, "Olde Avesbury". There are two nearby markings in a dark orangey red color, one is only a partial mark while the second seems to be "A13" or "A73" with a red "X" underneath.

We've provided 8 images to show from different angles and close-ups, including of the manufacturer marking. Please note that the camera light creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth china surfaces, you can see these move across the different images. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful condition, with the top surface and sides in excellent shape with no major flaws. We do note one small chip on the underside, inner box rim, in the upper left corner on our underside images, about 1/8 inch greatest width. This is hard to see on the image shot with the camera light, so the last image is shot without the light to try and help you see this small inner chip better. It is not a big deal, nothing anyone will see in use or on display, but you should know this is there. No other chips, cracks, crazing, scratches, major color loss that we can see, with the colored painting and gold lines in great shape. There are some pit/pin dots in the porcelain as made. Tucked into the underside inner lower edges/corners is some dirt and dust along with a brown pin dot, so this could use a gentle cleaning. It is possible this has some slight other wear due to age, handling and cleaning, but nothing we see nor believe is a problem.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2233: Vintage Mintons Rose England Bone China Demitasse Cup & Saucer A4807

Click for more detail...

2233

Vintage Mintons Rose England Bone China Demitasse Cup & Saucer A4807 Nifty vintage demitasse cup & saucer set, a two piece set. Made by Mintons in England in their Rose pattern, #A4807.

Both pieces have printed marks on the underside bases with the Mintons globe & crown insignia, with "England" also printed underneath on the cup and impressed nearby on the saucer. The pattern designation number is hand painted nearby in red on both pieces, with also the number "24" which may indicate the person who applied the hand painted touches. From some internet research, this Mintons mark was used by Minton from 1912-1950, with the word England inclusion said to show they would have been made in the earlier time frame, but we don't know exactly when.

Lovely multicolored pattern with floral swags and a geometric type border near the rim. This decor appears on the topside of the saucer and outside of the cup. The cup interior has the geometric band near the top rim with a floral group on the interior base. The flowers include larger pink roses and other flowers.

The base bone china is solid white in color and is porcelain, as it is translucent. The round saucer has a lower center circle with upturned sides, measuring about 4 1/4 inches in diameter and sitting 5/8 inch in height. The cup bows outward for the upper two thirds and slims towards the base, measuring about 2 1/16 inches in height, with a nicely curved handle on one side. Greatest width with the handle is about 2 7/8 inches, with a top opening diameter of 2 1/4 inches and a smaller base diameter of 1 5/16 inches. Together the two pieces sit about 2 1/4 inches in height and weigh 4.4 ounces unpacked.

We've provided multiple images to show from varied angles including manufacturer markings. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth glossy surfaces. Pleaase use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful overall condition with no major chips, cracks, crazing or large flaws. We do note a minor low chip on the underside base rim of the saucer on which it sits. You can see this slightly in the last image showing that mark but it's nothing to worry about. The underside base of the cup is fine but shows expected darkening from age. These pieces look largely unused, clean and bright. We see a few minor scratches on the topside of the saucer when held at an angle in bright light, not bad, likely from handling and cleaning over the years. The brown trim on the topside of the cup and outer handle shows a few tiny pin dots of white which may be touches of wear or how this was originally painted, we don't know, but again not bad.

Attractive cup & saucer set ready to display or use for an elegant teatime.

We have listed a number of other cups & saucers for sale, as well as other items. If you are interested in more than one, please contact us before inputting the order. We'd be pleased to combine multiple items for shipment in one box, if possible, to save you on postage. The system won't automatically combine shipping, and will quote as if each item is shipped separately. We would be happy to provide the combined shipping costs for you.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 2232: Shelley Bone China Tea Cup & Saucer Pink Floral Scalloped Rim Roses

Click for more detail...

2232

Shelley Bone China Tea Cup & Saucer Pink Floral Scalloped Rim Roses Lovely vintage Shelley Tea Cup & Saucer Set, two piece set. We don't know the pattern name, but this is a dainty floral design including pink roses and other multi-color flowers with green leaves & stems. This has a pink line trim or edging with pink on the elegantly upward curved cup side handle.

Fully marked on underside base of each piece with Shelley logo having England below and Fine Bone China above this. There are two partial red marks on the underside of the saucer (one may be the number "2"), with three red marks on the underside cup base (these numbers may be "7", "A7" and "174 something").

Clean white bone china base for these pieces, made of porcelain as they are translucent. Pretty scalloped rim for both pieces, with molded lines or ridges corresponding with the scalloping. Saucer curves upwards from lowered circular center. Saucer measures 5 6/8 inches in diameter and sits 3/4 inch in height. Cup stands about 2 3/8 inches in height to top of side handle, 3 7/16 inches top opening diameter, about 1 1/2 inches smaller base diameter. Together this highly collectible teacup & saucer stands about 2 1/2 inches in height and weighs about 6 1/2 ounces unpacked.

We've provided multiple images to show from differing angles, including the manufacturer markings. Please note that the camera lighting makes white "hot spot" reflections on the high shine glossy surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition, ready to use or display. No chips, cracks, crazing or major flaws. We are not sure if these pieces were ever used, they are very clean. Looking very closely at an angle in bright light, we do see some stray small tiny surface scratches on the center of the saucer but these may be from cleaning, the cup sitting or general handling, we don't know, and it is possible there is some other light wear to these pieces, but nothing at all to worry about. The underside cup base shows some darkening from age, as expected.

2238

Vtg Napoleon Bonaparte France Dish Sandland Ware Staffordshire England Neat find out of a home. This is a vintage small square plate or dish that could be a side dish, side plate, small pin dish or small trinket dish. Marked on backside as made by Lancaster & Sandland Ltd. (Limited) of Hanley, Staffordshire, England, as part of their Sandland Ware line.

The "Hanley, Staffordshire, England" words on the backside mark are extremely light and not readable on this piece. However, we had a second identical dish from the same home which already sold. On that piece these words were clearly there, so we can guarantee that this is what was meant to be shown here and is correct for this item.

Frontside decor is a mult-color image of the French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte, who served as the first consul of France from 1799-1804, and then as the first Emperor of France from 1804-1814/15. From some internet research we identified this as Napoleon, in a typical stance with one hand inserted into his front clothing or waistcoat. Shown in what we think is French military attire with what appears to be two medals hanging on the chest of his largely emerald green outfit that has gold double buttons down the front and gold epaulettes on his shoulders, with the top or handle or hilt of his sword shown at his waist.

Square ceramic or pottery piece (this is not porcelain as it is not translucent), measuring about 4 1/4 inches per side. The center section is lowered with upturned sides having rounded corners, sitting about 1/2 inch in height. There is gold line edging on the top rim. Ivory white base and background color, with underside just ivory with the manufacturer marking printed in a light green. Impressed near this is the number "224" which may be the piece or pattern number. Weighs about 3 ounces unpacked.

We've provided two images each of the topside and backside with the manufacturer mark. The camera lighting creates white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth glossy surfaces. It also makes the already light manufacturer mark difficult to photograph. To show the mark better, the two backside images were shot without the camera light, but this also makes them appear darker. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

While in nice overall vintage condition, this piece does show its age and has flaws. The Napoleon decor is clear & bright, and the gold line edging is in great shape. But this piece is all-over crazed with a fine crazing, top and bottom sides. There are no chips, separate large line cracks, or scratches. But you can see in the topside images that there are a number of browning areas that show as light brown spots or lines. These are clustered on and near the top of Napoleon's body on both sides, with particularly a small browning crazing line to the left of his nose and several on his face, and some dots of brown or black on and near his head/hair, as well as elsewhere (the closeup image makes this browning much more visible than you will see in person but you need to know this is there).

As made there are a lot of tiny pin/pit dots in the top glazing on the topside of this piece (not much on the backside). You don't really see these with this sitting on a table on display, but may see them as bright pin dots on the green coat in our close-up image due to the camera light reflection, and in person if you look closely, holding this at an angle in bright light. On the underside there are some tiny dark/pin/pit dots and stray gold paint dots/lines, and a small scar/indented area that is not glazed but may be due to glaze popping in manufacture, we're not sure (the other dish had the same thing in the same place which is why we think this is a manufacturing flaw rather than a wear/use chip). Other light general wear, etc.

A fun gift for anyone interested in French history, building a collection related to famous people of France or military figures in general, or a collection of pieces related to General Napoleon Bonaparte in particular.

Click for more detail...

2074

Vintage Royal Albert Bone China Tea Cup & Saucer Pink & Red Roses Very pretty vintage tea cup & saucer set made by Royal Albert, England. Both pieces have the black Royal Albert Bone China England mark on their underside bases with a crown but no pattern name, so we don't know which pattern this is. It may be one of the unnamed patters that Royal Albert made, but we're not sure. These pieces have pink & red roses with pale green leaves and a few small white & yellow flowers occasionally tucked among the leaves. We don't know when these pieces were made, they did come out of a home and are not new. We believe the cup uses Royal Albert's "Chelsea" shape.

Scalloped or fluted edge to both teacup and saucer trimmed in gold with gold trimming also around the base of the cup. There is an upward curved handle on one side. Most of the decoration is on the outside of the cup and topside of the saucer, with one area on the upper inside of the cup also having a grouping of roses. These pieces are porcelain or bone china (they are translucent), with the china molded in a soft ridged/fluted manner on the cup sides and upward turned part of the saucer (these sides are not flat, you can feel them flow & curve as made), and further molded in a vertical ridged pattern on the lower part of the cup.

Round saucer with upturned edges and center ridged section for seating the cup, measuring about 5 1/2 inches diameter and sitting about 15/16 inch in height. Cup curves inward from outstretched top rim then expands slightly before cinching in above smaller flared base with slightly fluted/scrolled edge. Cup top opening diameter is about 3 5/8 inches, greatest width including handle is about 4 1/2 inches, base diameter is 1 7/8 inches, and tallest point (to tip of handle) is about 3 inches. The two pieces together sit about 3 1/4 inches at the tallest point.

We've provided 8 images to show both pieces from varied angles and close-ups including the manufacturer marking. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the high gloss surface (which you can see move across the images). Please use the zoom feature to examine closely. These two pieces weigh slightly over 9 ounces unpacked.

Very nice colorful condition with no major chips, cracks, or crazing, but there is some wear. We do see a good number of small, light surface scratches on the top side of the saucer so perhaps this was used although the cup doesn't show any use wear that we see. These do not jump out at you, you need to look closely when held at an angle in bright light, so this set should be fine on display or in use. As made in manufacture we note some pin/pit dots/tiny dark dots in the glazing and china (a few on the interior of the cup at the bottom), some stray gold paint on the cup from the painting process, a raised dot/bump of extra china on the exterior of the cup, etc. There are other minor signs of age/wear/sitting such as a brown dot on the underside of the saucer but nothing bad.

Neat set which would look terrific on display as part of any tea cup & saucer collection or a grouping of Royal Albert china in particular. Would also be a fun means of enjoying some afternoon tea or coffee!

Please Note: If you are interested in more than one cup & saucer or other items, please contact us before inputting the order. We'd be pleased to combine multiple items for shipment in one box, if possible, to save you on postage. Click for more detail...

2062

1930s Ornate Aynsley China England Tea Cup & Saucer Inside Decor Lovely ornate antique or vintage tea cup and saucer made and marked by Aynsley China, England on the underside base of both pieces. White base porcelain (these pieces are translucent) or china which has a molded fluted line decor near the outer edge of the saucer and near the top rim of the cup. These pieces have a striking rich coral pink banded background color and are intricately decorated with flowers & leaves in gold. The decor is mainly on the topside of the saucer and interior of the cup. The outside of the cup is largely white with a mid-point circle of gold leaves, gold line edging (top and bottom), and gold decor on the curved upward handle.

Saucer is largely round with a slightly fluted edge from the china molding (with edge trim in gold), having a lowered or indented section in the middle for seating the cup, then flaring upwards and outwards, measuring about 5 5/8 inches diameter and sitting about 13/16 inch in height. The cup is also basically round with a fluted edge on the top (the base is simply round), and cinches in prior to flaring out slightly for the base. The curved handle is on one side. Top opening diameter of the cup is about 3 1/2 inches with a total width to the outside of the handle of 4 3/8 inches. The cup sits about 2 5/8 inches total height (to top of the handle). The two pieces together sit about 2 3/4 inches total height.

Both pieces of this teacup & saucer show the same Aynsley mark on the underside bases in a dark green, with the saucer also having some hand painted numbers in gold (1732). The mark shows a crown with "Aynsley, England, Bone China". We don't know the name of this vintage Aynsley pattern. From some internet research, Aynsley has made use of a number of mark variations over its history, with this mark appearing to be in use from 1934 to 1939, so we think these old pieces are not "newer" than 1939.

We've provided 8 images to try and show from varied angles & close-ups, including the Aynsley mark on each piece and a close-up of the decoration. The camera light causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth surfaces, sometimes "blands" out some of the detail, and alters the pink color of these pieces somewhat, so we've also included one image shot without the light. The rich pink color is closer to what you see in the image shot without the light, and is a very pretty medium-dark pink color in person. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely. Together these two pieces weigh about 8 1/2 ounces unpacked.

Wonderful overall vintage condition with no major chips, cracks or utensil marks. We see two very tiny flakes or very low tiny line chips in the white on the underside of the saucer along the rim but both appear glazed over so we think these were manufacturing flaws. There are also several similar tiny flakes on the underside base on which the saucer sits which could also be manufacturing flaws, we're not sure (this rim does not appear to have been fully glazed when made). There are some small scratches on the saucer but nothing bad (we think these came from cleaning/handling over the years as these pieces don't appear to have been used). While the gold line decor appears solid, if you look very closely at the flower/leaf decor in bright light the gold surfaces appear mottled or dotted in many places. We don't know if this is due to how this gold was applied (perhaps via stenciling rather than painting in lines) or if the gold bubbled in these places or perhaps this is a bit of gold wear. Unless you go looking for this, you won't notice anything with the gold, as the designs look overall fine. There are a few dots of gold smudging from the painting process (some appear slightly purple), some pin/pit dots in the porcelain, a few white dots in the pink, and other small expected age wear, but this is picking at pieces which look terrific and would display well or are ready for use.

Round bone china or porcelain, this piece is translucent. Has lowered center with upturned sides leading to flat diagonal upper rim with three indentations. Measures 4 7/16 inches in diameter and sits 5/8 inch in height. This vintage ashtray weighs 3 1/2 ounces unpacked.

Terrific multi-color design with an Asian type feel. Has a large central crane bird among flowers, bamboo stems & leaves. Three other groupings of pretty flowers appear around the top outer edge. Has gold line trim. Background color is white, with white also for the underside.

We've provided 7 images including closeups of the design and the manufacturer marking. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth, high gloss surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or flaws that we see. This piece looks unused to us, clean and bright. It came out of a home, so it may have just sat on display, we don't know. It is possible it has some minor age/sitting/cleaning/handling wear, but nothing jumps out at us or to worry about here.

Bone china or porcelain, this piece is translucent and has a roughly oval shape with gently fluted or paneled sides. Has flat lowered center with slightly flared outward upturned sides. Measures about 4 3/8 inches in length, 3 1/8 inches in width and sits 9/16 inch in height. This vintage small side dish weighs 2.4 ounces unpacked.

Terrific multi-color design with an Asian type feel. Has a large central crane bird among flowers, bamboo stems & leaves. Two other groupings of pretty flowers appear on the inner side panels with two single flowers on the inner end panels. Has gold line trim. Background color is white, with white also for the underside.

We've provided 8 images to show from all sides and the manufacturer marking. Please note that the camera lighting causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth, high gloss surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or major flaws that we see. This piece looks unused to us, clean and bright. It came out of a home, so it may have just sat on display, we don't know. On the underside base rim on which this piece sits, there are two very, very low or flat flakes that were hard to find, nothing to worry about. Click for more detail...

2234

Nifty Aynsley Bone China Cottage Garden Pin Dish Coaster Foil Label Lovely Aynsley Bone China Cottage Garden vintage piece which came out of a home but clearly was never used as still has original oval foil label on topside.

Multi-colored floral pattern with a butterfly and a variety of flowers which look to include roses. Clean white base bone china or porcelain which is translucent. Underside base is fully white other than manufacturer markings in blue.

We believe Anysley referred to this piece as a coaster but it could also be used as a pin or trinket dish or even a small soap dish. Round measuring 4 5/16 inches in diameter, with upturned curved sides so this piece sits about 3/4 inch in height. Weighs a little over 3 ounces unpacked.

Marked with Aynsley crown and ribbon mark, followed by "Made in England, Fine English Bone China". Under this is the Cottage Garden pattern name and "Portrayal of the Flora of an English Cottage Garden". The original Aynsley oval foil label or sticker appears on the topside above the floral decor. This label shows age and wear as you can see in the closeup image, with some discoloration and chipping along the bottom edge, but still firmly attached.

We've provided images of both sides with closeups. Please note that the camera light causes white "hot spot" reflections on the smooth, glossy surface.

Wonderful overall look but with some age/wear scratches that one only sees on very close inspection, not when sitting on a table or on display. If you inspect closely in bright light at an angle, you can see a number of small scratches on the topside white china. These do not appear on the colored portions, and we think were caused by handling or cleaning, or perhaps how this piece was stored, we don't know. The decor is bright and colorful, with a few pin dots of color wear on brown stems that may as manufactured/applied. Underside base rim shows expected darkening from sitting over time. It is possible there is other slight age/handling wear, but nothing really to worry about here.

We've listed several pieces of this Aynsley Cottage Garden pattern. If you are interested in more than one, please contact us before inputting the order. We'd be pleased to combine multiple items for shipment in one box, if possible, to save you on postage. Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1919: Set 4 Lovely 1931 Mintons B917 Bread Butter Plates 6 1/8 In. Minton

Click for more detail...

1919

Set 4 Lovely 1931 Mintons B917 Bread Butter Plates 6 1/8 In. Minton Lovely china plates made by Mintons (Minton) in England being sold as a group. There are 4 matching small plates, bread & butter plate size (bread butter plate), round measuring 6 1/8 inch in diameter. Basically flat plates with a slightly lower central section, sitting 3/4 inch in height. All of these plates came out of the same home where they were said to have belonged an older relative. These china plates are porcelain (they are translucent).

Fully marked on reverse side with Mintons globe & crown mark within 2 laurel wreaths and the word "England" for country of manufacture beneath. From some internet research, this mark was used by Minton from 1912-1950, with the word England inclusion said to show they would have been made in the earlier time frame. However, on some of the plates we can make out an impressed mark that to us looks like a badminton birdie (the item one hits with a racket when playing badminton). Our research identified this impressed mark as having been used by Mintons in 1931, so we believe that to be the date/age of these plates. On each plate hand-painted is "B917" which we believe to be the pattern number (there is no pattern name indicated on these bread & butter plates). Three of the plates also have another small printed symbol (a half circle with a line or third prong in the middle) which we couldn't identify or find out what this indicates.

This Mintons B917 pattern uses a white base china with a transferred design and hand painted décor. They have a delicate multi-floral design that includes some pink roses and other flowers in purple, pink, yellow, red and blue with green leaves. There is a geometric lattice type design near the outer edge painted in turquoise, blue and yellow, with two interrupting sets of designs including turquoise scrolls, pink flowers with yellow centers, and geometric details. Below these are two sets of multi-color floral swags and a pretty multi-color flower grouping at the center of the plates. The outer edge is trimmed with a deep yellow or mustard type color. The hand-applied coloring does create a bumpy feel on the topside of the plate where applied.

We've provided 8 images to show in groups, front and back sides, and close-ups of the backside markings and of the design. Please note that the camera lighting creates white "hot spot" reflections on the glossy surfaces. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful condition . There are no major chips, cracks or crazing. While these plates do show a bit of use wear or age, they don't show the kind of wear we would expect for china of this age, so we don't believe they were often used. If you hold each plate at an angle in bright light you can see a few scratch lines on the topside surfaces of varied sizes, but nothing bad at all and nothing you would see with these plates on display or sitting on a table. On the topsides there are some stray dots of color, some pin/pit/dark dots, but nothing bad at all. On the backsides you can see a few scratches (again, when held at an angle in bright light) and some wear dots (dark or yellow), etc.. Along the underside base rim on which each plate sits, you see the most evidence of age/wear as to be expected, via some darkening or yellow/orange staining on this rim and a few tiny flakes, indentations or very low tiny surface chips just on this underside base rim. There's really nothing to worry about here, but we are being very picky so that we fully describe these.

Attractive plates that could be added and used with any set of the Mintons B917 china. But these are also just a wonderful small pretty size that would add elegance by themselves if used for serving canapés , hors d'oeuvres or after dinner chocolates or mints.

Click for more detail...

1005

Set of 2 Minton Mintons Malta Turquoise Blue Bread & Butter Plates Lovely Minton bread & butter plates in the Malta pattern. We have 6 of these plates, but are selling them in sets of 2, so we are offering 3 pairs of plates. Marked on the backsides in blue with the Mintons insignia, the pattern name and "Made in England", as well as some hand painted numbers in red and some impressed markings (these vary, to include Minton China, Mintons, numbers and other unreadable marks).

Round, measuring 6 1/4 inches in diameter, sitting 5/8 inch in height, with gold line edge trim. The plates have white centers, broad light turquoise outer bands, and a leafy design inbetween which is half colored a blue/blue gray and half colored a bright turquoise, with this half also raised (rather than a flat design).

In the images, the white "hot spots" are lighting reflection from the camera. Please note that there are two different printed markings on the backs of these plates. Three of the plates have the marking shown, the other 3 have what we believe to be an updated version of this marking. While all the plates came out of the same elderly person's home, this indicates that the person must have purchased the plates at two different times, and used them together since they are identical on the top sides.

Nice overall condition with no major chips, cracks or crazing, but these plates were used. There are tiny pin dots and when viewed at an angle in bright light you can see many light scratches on the topside (mainly in the white center portion, one plate also has a light "V" shaped silverware mark on the light blue outer band near the edge, and another plate has some other light gray silverware use marks). On the backsides there are also scratches, tiny dark dots, a touch of yellow staining to a part of one of the base rims, and, on two of the plates, a tiny flake or chip on the plate's base rim on which the plate sits. When sitting on a table, however, these are not noticeable, and they are still very usuable pieces in this lovely dish pattern. Priced for each set of 2 plates.

Please note: If you wish to purchase more than 2 plates, please contact us prior to placing the order. The system is set up to calculate shipping based on only 2 plates in one box and will not provide you the cost savings you would receive by shipping additional plates in the same box. We would be pleased to calculate that for you.

1296

Lovely Small Aynsley China Cottage Garden Vase, England Bone China Attractive small bone china vase that is the perfect size for small flowers such as violets, lily of the valley, etc. Made in England by Aynsley China in their multi-colored Cottage Garden pattern. This piece is porcelain as it is translucent. We do not know the age of this piece; it did come out of a home but are uncertain as to when it was made.

Measures about 3 1/2 inches in height, 2 1/4 inches in width and 2 1/8 inches in depth. White bone china base in a rounded hexagon (six-sided) shape with a hexagonal top and bottom rim. Fully marked on the underside base with the Aynsley crown and banner logo with "Est. 1775, Aynsley, Made in England, Fine English Bone China, Cottage Garden, Portrayal of the Flora of an English Cottage Garden." This piece weighs about 3 ounces unpacked.

We've provided 8 images to show from all sides with close-ups of the pattern. This piece was difficult to shoot and have the pattern show well so we ended up shooting in natural light. This makes the image a bit darker but you can see the pattern better. There are still some white "hot spots" reflections from the natural lighting on the glossy surface, the vase is richer and more beautiful in person than shown in the images. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are a few stray pin/dark/transfer dots, a few tiny light scratches (which you only see when looking at an angle in very bright light, nothing that is a problem), and a little bit of darkening/wear on the underside base on which the piece sits.

A terrific piece which could make a nice low display when serving an elegant lunch or on a corner side table. Would also make a great addition to any collection of this lovely Aynsley china pattern or a collection of vases in general.

We've listed several pieces of this Aynsley Cottage Garden pattern. If you are interested in more than one, please contact us before inputting the order. We'd be pleased to combine multiple items for shipment in one box, if possible, to save you on postage.
