1940 Salesman Sample Embroidered Dutch Boy Fingertip Guest Towel
This rare embroidered birdseye cotton guest or fingertip towel was a pre-war salesman or store sample for Wonder Art, makers of stamped embroidery linens. The 16" by 22" towel has an embroidered cross stitch design of a Dutch boy with potted tulips and a fence or rail background done in orange-red and two shades of blue. The scalloped hem is finished with white crocheted lace edging.
A sturdy cardboard paper tag is stapled to a lower corner of the towel which reads "Trade-Mark Wonder Art, Sample Model No. 372, Not For Sale, Worked With Perlene Embroidery Cotton". Stamped in red on the tag is the date Jul 15 1940. The towel has no holes or tears but there is some light soiling near the design area and along the fold lines. Apologies for the bad, shaky pictures.
Circa: 1940

Mixed Metals Fort Jackson Tetons Wyoming Massive Wall Charger
This gorgeous and very large mixed metals Mid Century wall charger depicts the Fort Jackson commercial trading post in Jackson Wyoming against a backdrop of the Teton mountains. It was an estate auction purchase, so I don't know who made it or why. A safe bet would be that it was made for the owners of the business and it hung in the store.
The charger measures 27-1/2 inches diameter. The base metal is copper (some of the silver paint is worn through at the back, exposing the copper). The fort, lettering, and animals (deer and cougar I think) in the border are copper. I believe the silver colored metal is actually silver but I haven't tested it.
I couldn't find a signature or maker's mark. The charger has a hanger on the back and is very good vintage condition. In researching this piece, I found out that trading post is no longer in business. The basic building is still there but you wouldn't recognize it - it's now the home of the Gerry Spence's law firm. I'm certain this is a one of a kind piece. The charger weighs nearly 9 pounds before packing and boxing.
Circa: 1975

1965 Westclox Clock Salesman Sample Case With Advertising
This is a clock salesman's sample case from 1965 by Westclox. It has the cardboard insert which held five different sample clocks. The clocks were protected in the case with a flap of heavy gray flannel. Also included are several double sided Westclox product brochures with stock numbers and both dealer and retail prices.
The black faux leatherette case measures 19-3/4 by 10 by 3-5/8 inches. It has chrome hardware and latches, and a black plastic swing handle. It's in excellent vintage condition with no tears, scuffs, stains, or damage. Of course you can take out the inserts and use the case for storage.
