15835

Colorful Hand Painted Flowers Tole Tray 17 Inches A very pretty Nashco 1940s tole painted tray with colorful hand painted flowers on cream. The flowers are dark pink, red, blue, and gold with green leaves on creamy off-white with a faint blond wood grain. Gold scrolls and comma-stroke leaves decorated the gently scalloped raised rim. The tray measures 17-1/4 by 14-1/4 inches.

There are some pindot flecks of wear to the raised painted flowers and some shallow diagonal scratches at the left side of the flowers. The back has table wear, a strip of old white cloth tape and remnants of a foil Nashco label. There are no dents or dings.

15928

Chrome and Bakelite Manning Bowman Art Deco Ball Coffee Urn This Manning Bowman model 494 "Party Urn" chrome and Bakelite electric coffee percolator has a great Art Deco ball shape. The patent numbers on the bottom date to the late 1920s though it was in production through most of the 1930s. It holds 24 cups heats up just fine. The cloth covered cord and basket are present.

The dark yellow Bakelite or Catalin base, handle insert, and round disk spout decoration have no nicks or chips. The chrome finish is clean and shiny with no corrosion. There is one short, shallow scratch to the back of the urn and two tiny pinpoints dimple at the front, just below the ringed center band and to the left of the spout (none of the three were visible in any of the pictures I took). The glass perc top is a replacement - the original split cleanly in half vertically top to bottom when I went to wash it. I'll include the two pieces with shipment in case you prefer to have the original for display. The cloth covered cord is in great condition with no damage or fraying. The coffee maker is about 15 inches tall to the top of the raised handle by 11 inches at the widest point where the handles attach.

Circa: 1936

Click for more detail...

16085

Jennings Brothers Bronze Desk Set With Perpetual Calendar This early 1900s cast bronze desk set by Jennings Brothers is a transitional Art Nouveau to Arts and Crafts design. Included are an inkwell, a blotter, a perpetual desk calendar, and a blotter with bronze corner decoration.

The calendar has 6 celluloid month inserts (2 months on each, so all are present). There are six month inserts - there should be 7 but the one for months beginning on a Sunday is missing. The inserts all bear a copyright date of 1893. The bronze frame is marked on back JB 3215.

The 3 by 4 inch inkwell has a milk glass insert in pristine condition with no chips or damage. The handheld ink blotter still has its blue blotter paper. All three desk pieces are in excellent condition with no issues.

The 12 by 19 inch desktop blotter is backed in dark green moiré silk which is still in good condition aside from expected minor fraying and wear at the exterior edge folds. The thick pink blotter paper is still present, those somewhat faded and worn. The bronze corners are all firmly attached.

Click for more detail...

13609

Mixed Metals Fort Jackson Tetons Wyoming Massive Wall Charger This gorgeous and very large mixed metals Mid Century wall charger depicts the Fort Jackson commercial trading post in Jackson Wyoming against a backdrop of the Teton mountains. It was an estate auction purchase, so I don't know who made it or why. A safe bet would be that it was made for the owners of the business and it hung in the store.

The charger measures 27-1/2 inches diameter. The base metal is copper (some of the silver paint is worn through at the back, exposing the copper). The fort, lettering, and animals (deer and cougar I think) in the border are copper. I believe the silver colored metal is actually silver but I haven't tested it.

I couldn't find a signature or maker's mark. The charger has a hanger on the back and is very good vintage condition. In researching this piece, I found out that trading post is no longer in business. The basic building is still there but you wouldn't recognize it - it's now the home of the Gerry Spence's law firm. I'm certain this is a one of a kind piece. The charger weighs nearly 9 pounds before packing and boxing.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 14520: Jennings Brothers Bronze Desk Set Inkwell Stamp Box Letter Holder

Click for more detail...

14520

Jennings Brothers Bronze Desk Set Inkwell Stamp Box Letter Holder This 3-piece antique cast bronze desk set was made by Jennings Brothers in the early 1900s. The inkwell has a built-in pen rest at the front and is 2-3/4" high. The milk glass insert cup is clean and in excellent condition with one shallow, smooth flake on the rim edge.

The casket stamp box is 1-1/2" high by 3-1/4 inches long. Included are two fountain pen nibs marked Spencerian England Gilt Point No. 42 which were found inside.

The letter holder is about 4 inches square. Only the inkwell has a readable mark - JB 1014. The letter holder should bear the mark JB 1017 but if it's there it's not readable. The back hinges of the inkwell lid have been repaired or fortified (see solder marks in photo 4) but the lid works smoothly and is secure. All three pieces have excellent original patina and are in great condition with no scratches or dings.

Click for more detail...

15164

1918 Kreamer Metal Lock Box For Spices This antique japanned heavy tin plated steel spice box was made by Kreamer Tinware of Brooklyn New York. It would have originally held six square spice tins which are not present. The lockable box has a swinging metal handle at the center of the lid and is embossed Kreamer on the bottom along with a 1918 patent date. It measures 10-1/2 by 7-1/2 by 4-1/2 inches. The original glossy black and bronze-gold paint is in very good condition considering the age of the box. The front panel has the most wear while the interior has very little.

9930

Large Mixed Metals Inlaid Egyptian Sphinx Charger This dramatic vintage Egyptian themed copper wall charger is copper with inlaid bronze and silver. It's quite heavy, nearly 16 inches diameter with a scene of a sphinx and the Great Pyramids in the center, surrounded by a wide border of Egyptian hieroglyphic symbols outlined in silver. The plate is in very good condition but it's a vintage item and shows a little age - minor tarnish specks to the copper areas and tiny bumps or dimples to the outer rim, none of which affect the displayability of the charger. A wire hanger is soldered to the back for hanging. There are no maker's marks or signatures.

16003

Pair Tin Star Christmas Stocking Hangers A pair of big primitive or rustic style tin star Christmas stocking hangers, designed to sit on a shelf or your mantle. They're painted mottled green with gold stars and are 7 inches wide by 9-3/4" long to the bottom hook. The flat part that rests on the shelf is 4 inches wide by just over 1-1/2" deep front to back. I think they date to the late 1990s or early 2000s. Both hangers are in excellent condition.

11870-2

Manning Bowman Reticulated Chrome Casserole Cradle Holder This shiny reticulated chrome casserole holder was made by Manning Bowman in the 1920s to 1930s. Resting on four decorative scroll feet, it's a little over 4 inches high by 7-3/4" diameter, not including the side handles. The interior is marked M B & Co. 8962.

The first photo shows a modern medium size Pyrex glass mixing bowl in the cradle. The chrome finish is in excellent condition with no pitting or corrosion. There are a few random, hair-fine marks from normal storage but nothing that even comes close to a scratch.
