It's 11 inches high to the lid finial. The only flaw is a pouring bubble on the interior rim from manufacture. It's only visible when looking down from the top (not at all from the side). Marked Royal Munich Hand Painted on the bottom.

13709

West German Ceramic Alps Couple Beer Stein Luster Cobalt This vintage open tankard or rounded mug type beer stein was probably made in Mid Century West Germany. It's decorated with a panoramic scene of a Swiss man or boy blowing an alpen horn, the peak of the Matterhorn, and a Swiss woman or girl in a big lacy bonnet holding a basket. All against a glossy cobalt blue background with colorful flowers in high relief and peach luster trim at the rim and base.

The stein is in excellent condition with no damage. It stands about 6-1/2 inches high and holds 24 ounces. Remains of an unidentifiable label are on the underside along with the incised letter R (possibly K), the number 6589, and stamped numbers 6 and 98.

Circa: 1960

Manufacturer: Mid Century West German Import

15618

Kewpies Royal Rudolstadt Baby Feeding Dish Rose O'Neill This circa 1915 antique porcelain baby feeding dish by Royal Rudolstadt features Rose O'Neill Wilson's lovable Kewpies frolicking in grass. The light green airbrushed dish is a combination of a bowl and high-rimmed plate, designed for babies and young toddlers. It measures 7-3/4 inches diameter by 1-1/2 inches high. It's in near pristine condition with no damage or paint/decal wear, just light wear to the gold rim line and a couple of short craze lines to the glaze on the underside (they are true craze lines, not hairlines or cracks). When viewed at an angle toward light, you can see a few tiny, shallow marks near the center from utensil use, nothing even approaching a scratch. The plate is marked on the bottom with the green Prussia crown B Royal Rudolstadt mark, the same but smaller mark impressed without wording, and "Copyrighted Rose O'Neill Wilson, Kewpie, Germany" stamped under glaze.

Circa: 1915

Click for more detail...

15809

Royal Bayreuth Bavaria Sunbonnet Babies Childs Plate An original issue 7-1/2 inch antique plate from the desirable Sunbonnet Babies series of porcelain dishes, based on Bertha Corbett Melcher's beloved characters. In this scene, Molly and May are performing their ironing chores.

The plate has no chips, cracks, hairlines, or fleabites, and the colors are bright and unfaded. There is some typical wear to the gold at the rim, and a couple of tiny spots of rub wear to the paint at the center (near the iron), probably from stacking. The blue Royal Bayreuth Bavaria mark on back dates from 1902 to around 1920.

Bavaria US Zone Reticulated Porcelain Bread Tray Bowl This pretty white porcelain pierced bread basket bowl was made in Bavaria Germany by Schwarzenhammer. It's marked "US Zone", narrowing the production date to between 1945 and 1949. The scalloped oval basket has side handles and measures 12 by 7-1/2 inches, about 2 inches high at the low side center. Colorful wildflower decals decorate the center. The bottom and rim are outlined in narrow bands of gold. In excellent condition with no damage, scratches, or wear to the gold trim.

Hand Painted Orchids Porcelain Handled Cake Plate This lovely antique embossed porcelain cake plate isn't marked but was probably made in Germany. It's 11 inches diameter and has two open handles. The center decoration of ruffled orchids has raised moriage style enamel detail, and the rest of the plate has scattered gold leaf and vine decoration. This was probably a cabinet piece, as there are no signs of utensil marks or glaze wear, nor are there any chips, flakes, or other damage.

Click for more detail...

12111

Germany Flowered Shoe Figurine or Vase and Canoe Ashtray Both of these delicate porcelain figurines were made in Germany in the 1930s or earlier and have applied porcelain flowers. The shoe vase is 2-1/4" high by about 4-1/4 inches long. It has four lacing holes and is decorated with a big pink porcelain rose surrounded by green leaves and tiny purple and blue forget-me-not type flowers. There was probably a thin silk ribbon or bow in the lacing holes at one time. There is a very minor manufacturing flaw above the top right lacing hole, a thin line where the porcelain was separated at firing, less than 1/8" long.

The small canoe shape ashtray has a pearl luster finish and measures 4 inches long by 2-1/4 inches wide. The top rim is decorated with pink and yellow applied porcelain roses, green leaves, and blue flowers. Although the yellow rose looks like it's chipped in the photo, I don't think it is - it's glazed over and smooth to the touch. Both pieces are marked Germany on the bottoms.

Circa: 1930

10896

Boxed West Germany Blue Danube Floral Tile Trivet This Mid Century porcelain tile kitchen trivet has a pretty cobalt blue on white Jacobean floral design, similar to Blue Danube. It comes in its original box. The trivet rests on a brass wire stand with curled feet and measures 6 inches square. The back has three marks: a series of numbers, the letter G in a wreath, and Made in W. Germany. The box has a crown over the initials DBL logo but no manufacturer name. The tile is in perfect condition, apparently never used. The box has old tape on on flap, a tear at one window corner, and general storage wear but is intact.

12176

4 Decorative Flowered Porcelain Shoe Slipper Figurines My Grandma had a collection of figural ceramic shoes - she put little plants or artificial flowers in some of them. I often found coins or old tokens inside others when I played with them. These four delicate porcelain ladies' shoe or slipper figurines are from the 1930s to 1950s. The two pink shoes are marked Germany and are just under 3 inches long by 2 inches high. They have applied white roses, blue forget-me-nots, and green leaves at the front and flower decals at the sides. One shoe looks like it's missing a tiny blue flower.

<P>The other pair of shoes are singles. The white with gold trim and blue flowers shoe is 4-1/4" long by 2 inches high. It's marked on the bottom "Osborne Hand Painted". The large luster finish shoe isn't marked. It's 5-1/4" long by 2-3/4 inches high. Both are in excellent condition. Price is for the set of four.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 3574: Bavarian Childs Baby Feeding Plate Naughty Pierrot Smoking Cigars

Click for more detail...

3574

Bavarian Childs Baby Feeding Plate Naughty Pierrot Smoking Cigars Early juvenile feeding dishes often had an educational or even disciplinary theme, sometimes stern, sometimes amusing. This Bavaria porcelain baby plate depicts a pair of young Pierrots trying to smoke cigars. Unfortunately there is wear to one of the faces, but it's obvious that the smoke is making one boy cough or feel ill, and the other seems to be trying to show him the proper technique (or possibly taunting the reluctant Pierrot). A box of cigars is spilling out on the bench beside them. The words Baby's Plate appear underneath the scene, but the words are badly faded. It's an unusual theme for a childs dish.

The bowl is 7-1/2" diameter with a straight sided 1" deep rim. It probably dates to the first decade of the 1900s. The china is hard paste, very white in color with a shiny glaze. The back is marked in green PM Bavaria inside a wreath with a crown on top. This is a mark of the Moschendorf porcelain factory. As you can see the bowl was much used and does have design wear. There is one small, thin chip, barely bigger than a flake, on the underside of the rim (not visible from the top when looking down though you would probably see it if you were eye level to the rim). There are no other chips, and no hairlines, cracks, or crazing.

Circa: Early 1900s

16103

ES Germany Demitasse Cups, Saucers, Tray Set This partial demitasse coffee set was made at the Erdmann Schlegelmilch porcelain factory in Germany in the early 1900s. The scalloped, embossed tray is a little over 12 inches diameter. The five straight sided, 4 ounce cups are 2-3/4" high, and the five saucers are 4-3/8" diameter. Each piece is decorated with small pink and blue flower sprays and lots of gold trim. Most pieces are marked Prov Saxe ES Germany. This mark was used from 1902 to about 1935.

One cup has a tight hairline rim crack. The other pieces have no damage. The last photo shows a matching coffee pot with no lid, which I'll be happy to include with shipment upon request.

12160

Berlin Brandenburg Gate Scenic Souvenir Wall Plate This 10-5/8 inch porcelain wall plate has a black and white pen and ink style scenic view of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate as it appeared in 1928. It's titled "Berlin, Brandenburger Tor um 1928". The scene bordered by a nearly 1 inch rim in maroon red with gold flowers. The back is marked Schedel Bavaria with a black and green crown logo. A ceramic tab secures a hinged wire wall hanger. I've been unable to determine the age of the plate. Excellent condition, still glossy with no scratches or damage.

3592

Doe and Fawn Blue and White 1971 German Mothers Day Plate This pretty blue and white porcelain collector plate features a serene woodland scene of two deer - a mother doe and her fawn in a clearing with sunlight streaming down on them through the branches of the trees. At the bottom of the plate is printed Mother's Day 1971. The back is marked with a castle and crown logo "Royale Blue Winter China, Made In Germany, Limited Edition Series".

The plate measures 7-5/8" diameter and has two holes at the back ring for hanging. It's in excellent condition with no damage. Wouldn't it make a thoughtful Mother's Day gift, especially if you were born in 1971?
