15987

Porcelain Half Doll Pincushion Pin Cushion This lovely old half doll pincushion is about 5 inches high by 4-3/4" diameter at the base. Her puffy padded cupcake skirt is light peach silk covered with pleated pale orange satin rosettes, a colored pear or glass head pin at the center of each rosette. The old fashioned half doll wears a green shawl and holds a pin rose in one hand. She has flowers in her upswept hairdo with long curls at the sides. There is some minor damage to a few of the rosettes as shown, and one rosette is missing from the back side. The doll is marked Japan at the back and is in excellent vintage condition with no damage.

7035

Red and White Woven Plastic Covered Sewing or Hair Curlers Basket When I bought this retro 1960s red and white covered basket at a local estate auction, it was filled with hair rollers, curlers, and plastic hair picks. I think it would make an excellent sewing or crochet / knitting basket, or even a funky box purse.

The basket is 6-1/2" high to the top of the fully removable lid, about 9-1/2" high to the top of the handle, by 8" diameter. It's very strong and sturdy, made of red and white woven spaghetti plastic over a heavy wire frame. The handle is white plastic over rattan or bamboo wood. It's in excellent condition with no splits or tears anywhere. The only sign of wear or age of note is the top of the lid has some fading of the red color.

Click for more detail...

15765

Pinwheel Star Hand Stitched Patchwork Quilt Top 95 by 80 This unfinished patchwork quilt top has been in my family since the mid 1960s, made by my grandmother from her stash of salvaged fabrics from other sewing projects and old clothing. It measures 95 by 80 inches, plenty big enough as-is for a twin bed, or add side panels to make it larger. It consists of 30 hand stitched 12 inch blocks in a pieced pinwheel star pattern. I'm pretty sure the fabrics are all cotton. The aqua green panels bordering the blocks were attached by machine stitching, everything else is hand pieced.

The quilt top was dry cleaned many years ago and is still clean with minimal age yellowing. There may be a few minor repairs necessary (see the frayed edges to the green block in photo number 5 as an example), but there are no stains or big tears. The photos show only a few of the blocks.

The Japan made dress form with wooden center post is 5-1/4 inches high, with the body section covered in padded moss green velvet with a brass cap at the top to hold a thimble. The gold tone metal base originally held a retractable tape measure, which is missing.

The pine wood rocking chair was a souvenir of El Paso Texas. It's 3-1/2 inches high and has a green cushion filled with pins and needles in the seat area. There are some minor scratches from storage as shown.
