  • 2 balls #107 Candy Blue (A)
  • 2 balls #169 Pistachio (B)
  • 2 balls #158 Pineapple (C)
  • 2 balls #133 Orangeade (D)
  • 2 balls #113 Cherry (E) or colors of your choice

• Size G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

GAUGE

Each square measures 7½” x 7½” (19 mm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Rainbows (Make 5, one in each color sequence) ABCDE, BCDEA, CDEAB, DEABC, EABCD)
Row 1 With first color, ch 8; skip first ch, sc in first 3 ch, 2 sc in next ch, sc in last 3 ch – 8 sc.
Row 2
Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 10 sc. Fasten off and join next color.
Row 3 Ch 1, turn; sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc – 14 sc. Fasten off and join next color.
Row 4 Ch 1, turn; 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next 2 sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc – 18 sc. Fasten off and join next color.
Row 5 Ch 1, turn; sc in first 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 4 sc – 20 sc. Fasten off and join last color.
Row 6 Ch 1, turn; sc in first 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 8 sc – 22 sc. Fasten off.

Plain Square (Make one in each color A, B, C, D, E)
Row 1
Ch 27; dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across – 25 dc.
Row 2 Ch 3, turn; dc in first dc, (ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next dc) 11 times, dc in top of t-ch.
Row 3 Ch 3, turn; dc in each dc and ch1-space across – 25 dc.
Rows 4-11 Ch 3, turn; dc in each dc across – 25 dc.
Row 12 Rep Row 2.
Row 13 Rep Row 3. Fasten off, leaving 18” end for sewing.

Rainbow MOTIF Square (Make three in each color A, B, C, D, E)
Rows 1-4
Rep Rows 1-4 of Plain Square.
Row 5 Ch 3, turn; dc in next 4 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next 13 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in last 5 dc.
Row 6 Ch 3, turn; dc in next 4 dc and ch1-space, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next 11 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in ch1-space, dc in last 4 dc, dc in top of t-ch.
Row 7 Ch 3, turn; dc in next 5 dc and ch1-space, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in next 9 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in ch1-space and last 5 dc, dc in top of t-ch.
Row 8 Ch 3, turn; dc in next 6 dc and ch1-space, skip next dc, dc in next 7 dc, ch 1, skip next dc, dc in ch1-space and last 6 dc, dc in top of t-ch.

FINISHING
Sew one rainbow to center of each plain square, matching Row 4 color to color of square. Sew squares together following schematic below. R = square with rainbow.

Rnd 1 Join E in any corner, work 98 sc across top and bottom, 128 sc along each side, and 3 sc in each corner – 464 sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 2 Working in back loops only with D, sc in each sc around and 3 sc in each corner sc – 472 sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 3-5 Rep Rnd 2 with C, B, then A – 496 sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.
