Row 2: Ch 3, dc into second dc and each dc across. Turn. Row 3: DecBR, dc in next st and in each dc up to last 2, DecER [6 sts]. Row 4: Rep Row 3 (4 sts). Cut yarn, leaving long tail. Weave tail through the 4 sts and pull to make Ear curve. Finish off. Lion Tail: With two strands of A, ch 18, dc into fourth ch from hook and each ch across (16 sts). Finish off.

Assembly for Lamb and Lion: Using a double strand of A (Deco for Lamb, Rococo for Lion) and working from the wrong-side, sew Face to the Body. Center and sew the long side edge Face onto the center of the long side edge of Body (see diagram). Fold in half and sew tog the bottom of the Face and the remaining edge of the same side of the Body. Sew the other side of the Body tog, leaving the bottom edge open. Turn right-side out. Insert stuffing into Face and the pillow form into Body. Sew the bottom opening of the pillow. Sew ears to body as pictured: For Lamb: Bend first and last sts of Ear under and sew to Body in this position. For Lion: Bend Ear so first and last sts meet and sew to Body in this position. If you are making the Lion, sew the tail on at the top of the back seam of the pillow. Embroider Face and sew or glue on buttons for eyes as shown.

Hair for Lamb and Lion: Attach two strands (one each of A and B for the Lamb; one each of A or B and C for Lion) to Body. Using your crochet hook, pull up a loop 1 - 2" long under and through dc sts, making sure to catch both strands of yarn; remove hook. Using your finger to maintain the size of the first loop, insert hook into next st and through first loop. Pull up another loop, drawing it tightly through first loop to anchor. Cont drawing up loops until Body of Lamb or Mane and end of Tail of Lion are as full as you like. (For Lion, alternate A and B with C for a varied effect and snip some of the loops when done for a furrier effect). Alternate Hair Method: If you prefer, you may make the hair as fringe: For Lamb: Holding one strand each of A and B tog, wrap yarn twice around a piece of cardboard the length you want the hair to be. Cut ends attached to ball/skein but not bottom of fringe. Holding top of fringe tog, slide yarn off cardboard. Using fingers or crochet hook, reach through dc from back to front of Body and pull top of fringe through. Pull bottom of fringe through this loop. Rep until Body is covered. For Lion: Holding one strand each of A, B, and C tog, wrap yarn around a cardboard the length you want the fringe to be. Cut at one end. Taking one strand each of A and B, fold in half. Insert hook under dc and pull loop through. Bring ends through loop and tighten. Rep until Mane or Tail tip is completed. To give your Lion the short “beard” shown in photo, use fringe of A and C on chin and trim to desired length.
