• Size K-10.5 (6.5 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

10 sc and 10 rows = 4". BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Reverse single crochet Reverse single crochet is worked exactly like regular single crochet except going left to right instead of right to left. At the end of an sc row, if the next row is reverse sc, you do not turn, but twist your wrist and insert the crochet hook back into the stitch just finished, work a sc, and continue in this way back across.

Row 1 (RS) Ch 1, do not turn. Work 1 reverse sc, working from left to right, in front loop of each st across.

Row 2 (RS) Ch 1, do not turn. Work 1 sc in back loop of each sc across.

Rows 3 & 4 Rep Rows 1 & 2.

Row 5 (WS) Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc through both loops of each st across.

Row 6 (RS) Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc through both loops of each st across.

Ch 54.

Foundation row 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 53 sts. Rows 1-8 Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in each sc across. Next row (RS) Ch 1, do not turn. Work in reverse sc, working from left to right, in front loops only across row. Rep Pat Stitch Rows 2-6 once, Rows 1-6 once, then Rows 1-5 once.

Crown shaping: Dec Row 1 (RS) Ch 1, turn. Working through both loops of each sc, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts, *1 sc in each of next 4 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 44 sts.

Row 2 Work Pat Stitch Row 1.

Dec Row 3 (RS) Ch 1, do not turn, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts, *1 sc in each of next 3 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 35 sts.

Row 4 Work Stitch Pat Row 1.

Dec Row 5 (RS) Ch 1, do not turn. 1 sc in next sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sc, *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 26 sts.

Row 6 (WS) Ch 1, turn. Work 1 row sc.

Dec Row 7 (RS) Ch 1, turn. Dec 1 sc in next 2 sts, *1 sc in next sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 17 sts.

Row 8 (WS) Ch 1, turn. Work 1 row sc.

Dec Row 9 (RS) Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in next sc, *dec 1 sc in next 2 sts; rep from * across - 9 sts.

Dec Row 10 (WS) Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in next sc, *dec 1 sc in next 2 sc; rep from * across -- 5 sts. Draw yarn through rem sts and tighten. Sew back seam and rolled brim of 1 1/2" invisibly.

Ch 31. Foundation row Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 30 sc. Rows 1-3 Ch 1, turn. 1 sc in each sc across. Next row (RS) Ch 1, do not turn. Work in reverse sc, working from left to right in front loops only, across row. Work Pat Stitch Rows 2-6 once, then Rows 1-6, 6 times more. Ch 1, turn. Work in sc until piece meas 43 1/2" from beg, ending with a RS row. Work Stitch Pat Rows 1-6, 7 times. Ch 1, turn. Cont in sc for 2 more rows. Next row Ch 1, do not turn. Work in reverse sc, working from left to right, across row. Fasten off. At beg edge, join yarn with a slip st and work 1 row reverse sc, working from left to right. Fasten off.
