Crochet Beret

A new crocheted beret pattern to make in fluffy, soft Imagine yarn to keep your loved ones warm. You can also make it in any of our other worsted weight yarns, such as Wool-Ease, Cotton-Ease, or Pound of Love.

SIZE
9" in diameter (blocked)
Fits an average adult head (21-23")

MATERIALS
LION BRAND Imagine
1 ball #099 Fisherman or color of your choice
• Size G-6 (4 mm) crochet hook OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Stitch markers

Gauge
16 sc = 4" (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.


Topknot
Ch 4. Sc in 4th ch from hook to form ring. Sc in rnds until piece measures 3 1/2" from beg. Inc to 6 sts in last rnd. Place marker for beg of rnd.

Crown
Inc 6 sts evenly spaced. Repeat last rnd until there are 144 sts.

Brim
Dec 6 sts evenly spaced. Repeat last rnd until 72 sts remain.
Join with slip st, turn work inside out. With WS facing, work 5 rnds even.

Finishing
Tie topknot with an overhand knot. Tack end in place to underside of knot. Pull beret over 9" dinner plate. Lightly damp, allow to dry thoroughly. Weave in ends.
