One size fits most.

MATERIALS:
• LION BRAND Woolspun, Art. #370 (100 yd. skeins): 2 skeins #098 Natural or color of your choice. Note:  This product is no longer available.  The patterns are provided as a courtesy to those who may still have some yarn.  Wool-Ease Thick & Quick and Chenille Thick & Quick give approximately the same gauge as Wool-Spun, but the textures of the item will be very different
• Crochet hook size K-10˝ U.S. (3 U.K.) (6.50 mm) OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE.

GAUGE:
10 sc = 4" on size K hook. TO INSURE PROPER SIZE, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Dec 1 sc: Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc, yarn over hook, draw yarn through all loops on hook.

CROWN:
Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.

Rnd 1: Work 8 sc into ring. Mark for beg of rnd.

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around -- 16 sc.

Rnd 3: *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 24 sc.

Rnd 4: *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 32 sc.

Rnd 5: *1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 40 sc.

Rnd 6: *1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 48 sc.

Rnd 7: *1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around -- 56 sc. Cont even in sc until 5˝" from center top of crown. Fasten off.

Ch 5.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across -- 4 sc. Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Working through back loops only, sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. Rep Row 2 until brim measures 22˝" slightly stretched. Fasten off. Sew brim to edge of hat placing short seam at beg marker.

Attach yarn at seam with a sl st, ch 1, beginning the back of the right ear flap, sc in next sc, then sc in each of next 14 sc, turn. *Dec row: Sc in first sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sc, sc in each sc to end of row. Rep dec row 11 more times -- 3 sc rem. Cont even in sc on rem 3 sc for 13" from bottom edge of brim. Fasten off.* Skip center back 4 1/2". Join yarn in next sc with a sl st, ch 1, then beginning the back of the left ear flap, sc in next sc, then sc in each of next of next 14 sc, turn. Rep from * to * on right ear flap to complete left ear flap.
