GAUGE
4.5 sts + 6 rows = 1" in St st on No. 9 needles. 4 sts + 6 rows = 1" in Collar Pat on No. 10 needles. TO INSURE PROPER

BACK
With smallest ndls, CO 87 sts. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 2 1/2", ending with a RS row. Change to Size 9 ndls. Next Row
(WS) P, inc 8 sts evenly spaced across row-95 sts. Cont even in St st until piece meas 22" from beg. BO to gauge.
LEFT FRONT
With smallest ndls, CO 41 sts. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 2 1/2", ending with a RS row. Change to Size 9 ndls. Next
Row (WS) P, inc 5 sts evenly spaced across row-46 sts. Cont even in St st until piece meas 6" from beg, ending
with a RS row.
Shape Neck Dec or BO 1 st at front opening edge at beg of every 6th row 14 times-32 sts. Cont even until piece
meas same length as Back to shoulder. BO to gauge.
RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front, rev shaping.
SLEEVES
With smallest ndls, CO 41 sts. Work in k 1, p 1 rib for 4", ending with a RS row. Change to Size 9
ndls. Next Row (WS) P, inc 18 sts evenly spaced across row-59 sts. Cont even in St st for 10 rows. Shape
Sides Inc 1 st at each end of next row and every foll 5th row 16 times-91 sts. Work even until Sleeve
meas 19 1/2" from beg. BO loosely.
UPPER COLLAR
With largest ndls, CO 16 sts.
Collar Pattern A
Row 1 (WS) K 16.
Row 2 P 13, turn, k 13.
Row 3 P 13, k 3.
Row 4 K 3, p 13.
Row 5 K 13, turn, p 13.
Row 6 K 16.

LOWER COLLAR
With largest ndls, CO 30 sts.

Row 2 P 20, turn, k 20.

Row 6 K 30.
Work Rows 1-6 a total of 44 times, then work Rows 1-3 once. BO

FINISHING
Sew Fronts to Back at shoulders. Position Collars (with
Upper Collar over Lower Collar) 6" above CO edge of
Right Front and pin in place around shaped neck edge,
ending at Left Front and easing in fullness. With RS
facing and crochet hook, beg at CO edge of Right Front
opening: Join yarn with sl st and work 1 row sc up
unshaped Right Front edge, around neck (working through
all thicknesses: sweater, Lower Collar, and Upper
Collar), down unshaped Left Front edge to CO edge. Ch 1,
turn.
Next Row Work 1 sc in each sc around. Ch 1,
turn.
Buttonhole Row: Next Row Sc in each of first
3 sc, *ch 2, sk 2 sc, sc in each of next 4 sc; rep
from * twice, ch 2, sk 2 sc, sc in each sc to end of
row.
Left Front Border: Next Row Working along
unshaped Left Front opening only, sc in each of 25
sc. Ch 1, turn.
Next Row Sc in each of 25 sc. Fasten off.
Right Front Border With WS facing and
crochet hook, join yarn with a sl st in the
26th st above CO edge, sc in each sc. Ch 1,
turn.
Next Row Sc in each sc. Fasten off.
Place markers on side seams 10" down
from shoulder seams on Fronts and Back for
armholes. Sew Sleeves in place bet
markers. Sew side and Sleeve seams. Sew
buttons in place opp buttonholes.
