• Size 10.5 (6.5 mm)- 16” circular needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Stitch holders
• Large-eyed, blunt needle

GAUGE
13 sts + 16 rows = 4" (10 cm) over St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

STITCH EXPLANATION
M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal thread lying between the needles and placing it onto the left needle. Work this new stitch through the back loop.

PATTERN STITCH
Row 1 K 3, p 1, k 1, p 1.
Row 2 Purl.
Repeat Rows 1-2 for pattern.

BACK
With A cast on 61 (67, 73, 79, 85, 91)) sts. Purl 1 row.

Next row (RS) Beg pattern as follows.

For sizes S, L, 2X K 1, p 1, *k 3, p 1, k 1, p 1*, repeat between * to last 5 sts, ending with k 3, p 1, k 1.

For sizes M, 1X, 3X K 2, p 1, k 1, p 1, *k 3, p 1, k 1, p 1*, repeat between * to last 2 sts, ending with k 2.

Work 3 rows more in pattern. Change to B and cont in Pattern st until piece measures 13" from beg. Change A and work 4 rows in pattern.

Shape armhole Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows - 51 (57, 63, 69, 75, 81) sts. Work even in pattern until armhole measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2, 10)", ending after WS row.

Shape shoulder and back neck Bind off 5 (6, 6, 7, 8, 9) sts, pattern 13 (15, 17, 19, 20, 22) sts, place center 15 (15, 17, 17, 19, 19) sts on a holder for back neck, join 2nd ball of yarn and work to end. Next row Bind off 5 (6, 6, 7, 8, 9) sts, working both sides at once, bind off at each neck edge 2 sts, then 1 st. AT SAME TIME, bind off 5 (6, 7, 8, 8, 9) sts at beg of next 2 rows, 5 (6, 7, 8, 9, 10) sts at beg of next 2 rows for shoulders.

FRONT
Work as for back until armhole measures 6 1/2 (7, 7 1/2, 8, 8 1/2, 9)", ending after WS row.

Shape neck Work 20 (23, 25, 28, 30, 33) sts, place center 11 (11, 13, 13, 15, 15) sts on a holder for front neck, join 2nd ball of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at once, bind off at each neck edge 2 sts twice, then 1 st. When armhole measures same as for back, shape shoulders as for back.

SLEEVES
With B, cast on 23 (25, 29, 31, 35, 37) sts. Work in k3, p3 rib, beg as follows: For sizes S, 2X P 1, (k 3, p 3) to last 5 sts, end with k 3, p 1.

For sizes M, 3X P 2, (k 3, p 3) to last 5 sts, end with k 3, p 2.
For size L K 1, (p 3, k 3) to last 4 sts, end with p 3, k 1.
For size XL K 2, (p 3, k 3) to last 5 sts, end with p 3, k 2.

Cont in rib for 11 more rows. Change to A and pattern as follows:

Work k 3 over the p 3, and (p 1, k 1, p 1) over k 3 in row below.

Note Knit edge sts at both sides.

Work even in pattern for 12 rows.

Next row K 1, M1, work to last st, M1, k 1. Repeat inc every 6th row 8 (6, 6, 6, 6, 5) times more, every 4th row 3 (6, 6, 6, 6, 8) times - 47 (51, 55, 57, 61, 65) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 19" from B cuff. Bind off.

NECK
Sew shoulder seams. With RS facing, circular needles and A, K3, P3 Rib across 15 (15, 17, 17, 19) sts from back neck holder, pick up and k 11 (11, 12, 12, 10, 10) sts from side neck, Rib 11 (11, 13, 13, 15, 15) sts from front neck holder, pick up 11 (11, 12, 12, 10, 10) sts from side neck - 48 (48, 54, 54, 54, 54) sts. Join to beg and work around in K3, P3 Rib for 10 rnds. Change to B and work 5 rnds more. Bind off in rib.

FINISHING
Set sleeves into armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.
