MATERIALS
• LION BRAND Microspun
8 (9) balls in color of your choice
• Sizes 7 (4.50 mm) and 8 (5 mm) knitting needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
• Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook
• Stitch markers

GAUGE
25 sts = 4 1/2" with larger needles in pat st.

STITCH EXPLANATION
inc 1 = increase 1 stitch
Knit into front and back of next stitch.

STITCH PATTERN
Chevron Pattern (multiple of 25 sts plus 2 (12) edge sts)

Rows 1, 3, 5, & 7 (RS) K 1 (6), *inc 1, k 10, sl1-k2tog-psso, k 10, inc 1*; rep from * to * across, end k 1 (6).

Rows 2, 4 & 6 K 1 (6), p across to last st, k 1 (6).

Row 8: K.

Rep Rows 1-8 for Chevron Pat.

BACK

With smaller needles, CO 127 (137) sts. Work in garter st (k every row) for 4 rows. Change to larger needles. Beg with Pat Row 1, work even in Chevron Pat until piece meas approx 14 (15) in. from beg, ending with Pat Row 7. Shape armholes: Next row (WS) Bind off first 13 sts as if to p, k 101 (111) sts, then bind off final 13 sts as if to p. Break yarn and turn work. With RS of work facing, join yarn after first 13 bind off sts. Row 1 & all foll RS rows K2tog, k 10 (15), inc 1, rep from * to * of Chevron Pat Row 1 across next 75 sts, end inc 1, k 10 (15), k2tog tbl. Rows 2, 4 & 6 Rep Chevron Pat Rows 2, 4 & 6. Row 8 Rep Chevron Pat Row 8. Rep Rows 1-8 as given here until armholes meas approx 11 (11 1/2) in. from bind off row, ending with Chevron Pat Row 7. Next row P. Next row Bind off all sts.

FRONT

Work same as Back until armholes meas approx 5 in. from bind off row, ending with Pat Row 3. Shape neck (Note On RS rows, bind off as if to k; on WS rows, bind off as if to p.) Shape as foll: Next row (WS): on right shoulder K 1 (5), p 43; join new ball of yarn and bind off center 13 sts; on left shoulder p to last 1 (5) sts, k 1 (5). Next row (RS): on left shoulder Work in pat until 36 (41) sts are on RH ndl, inc 1, k 6; on right shoulder bind off 5 sts, inc 1, work in pat to end. Next row (WS): on right shoulder K 1 (5), p 38; on left shoulder bind off 5 sts, p to last 1 (5) sts, k 1 (5). Next row (RS): on left shoulder work in pat until 26 (31) sts are on RH ndl, k 12; on right shoulder bind off 5 sts, k 6 , sl1-k2tog-psso, work in pat to end. Next row: on right shoulder K 33 (38); on left shoulder bind off 5 sts, k to end. Next row (RS): on left shoulder work in pat until 26 (31) sts are on RH ndl, k 6; on right shoulder bind off 3 sts, k 2, sl1-k2tog-psso, work in pat to end. Next row (WS): on right shoulder K 1 (5), p 28; on left shoulder bind off 3 sts, p to last 1 (5) sts, k 1 (5). Next row (RS): on left shoulder work in pat until 26 (31) sts are on RH ndl, k 2; on right shoulder bind off 2 sts, k2tog, pass 2nd st on RH ndl over k2tog, work in pat to end. Next row (WS): on right shoulder K 1 (5), p 25; on left shoulder bind off 2 sts, p to last 1 (5) sts, k 1 (5). Next row & all foll RS rows: on left shoulder *K2tog, k 10 (15), (inc 1) twice, k 10, k2tog tbl*; on right shoulder rep from * to * as for left shoulder. Cont as est above until armholes meas same as Back to shoulder. Bind off rem 26 (31) sts at each side.

SLEEVES

With smaller needles, CO 52 sts. Work in garter st for 4 rows. Change to larger needles. Rows 1 & 2 Work even foll Chevron Pat Rows 1 & 2. Row 3 (RS) Inc 1 st in first st, place marker (pm), rep from * to * of Chevron Pat Row 3 across next 50 sts, pm, inc 1 st in last st. Cont to inc 1 st at each end of every other row 10 (14) more times, then every 3rd row 26 times maintaining Chevron Pat bet markers and working all added sts in St st except cont to k on WS for Row 8; AT THE SAME TIME, when there are at least 13 sts outside both markers, work Pat Inc A on next RS row as foll: Next row K2tog, inc 1 st in strand bet last st and next st, k 10, inc 1 in next st, remove marker; rep from * to * of appropriate Chevron Pat Row, remove marker, inc 1, k 10, inc 1 st in strand bet last st and next st, k2tog tbl – 78 sts (now there are 14 sts on each side of center 50 Chevron sts). Work in pat as est until you are about to work the next inc row. Next row Inc 1 st and place marker bet the 2 sts on RH ndl, k2tog, k 10, inc 1 st in next st, work in Chevron Pat across next 50 sts, inc 1 st in next st, and place marker bet the last 2 sts, k 10, k2tog tbl, inc 1 st in last st – 80 sts. Work in pat as newly est and cont shaping sides until there are 13 sts outside each marker, then work Pat Inc B on next RS row as foll: K 1; rep from * to * of appropriate Chevron Pat Row while removing both markers, end k 1. Work in pat as newly est and replace markers just inside the edge sts on next row. PAT as est and cont shaping sides; when there are at least 13 sts outside both markers, work Pat Inc A again on next RS row. PAT even until piece meas 19 1/2 in. from beg, ending with a RS row and meas Sleeve length from lowest point on cast on row to the ndl. Bind off as if to p.

FINISHING

Sew both shoulder seams. With RS facing and crochet hook, join yarn with a slipstitch at shoulder seam. Work 1 rnd of single crochet (smoothing or easing the points as desired), do not turn; then work 1 rnd of rev single crochet (working from left to right) around neck edge. Sew Sleeves into armholes, leaving bind off sts free. Sew bind off sts at base of armhole to side-seam edges of Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams.
