MATERIALS
• LION BRAND Wool-Ease
11 balls #099 Fisherman or color of your choice
• Size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
• Size 7 (4.5 mm) 29” circular knitting needle
• Cable needle
• Stitch marker
• Large-eyed, blunt needle
GAUGE
19 sts + 27 rows = 4” (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
STITCH EXPLANATION
Bobble (K, p, k) in next stitch; turn and purl these 3 stitches; turn and slip 2 stitches together knitwise, knit 1, then pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knit stitch.
NOTES
Do not add selvage sts; all sts for seaming are included in the instructions.
Afghan is worked in 7 strips, each 9 blocks long; these strips are sewn together, then finished with lace border across bottom and top.
BOBBLE/BASKETWEAVE STRIP – Make 2
Cast on 28 sts. Begin
Mini-Bobble Pattern
Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 P 2, k to last 2 sts, p 2.
Row 3 Knit.
Row 4 Purl.
Row 5 K 3, bobble, (k 5, bobble) 3 times, k 6.
Row 6 Purl.
Row 7 Knit.
Row 8 Purl.
Row 9 K 6, bobble, (k 5, bobble) 3 times, k 3.
Row 10 Purl.
Row 11 Knit.
Row 12 Purl.
Rows 13-28 Repeat Rows 5-12 twice.
Rows 29-35 Repeat Rows 5-11.
Row 36 P 2, k to last 2 sts, p 2. Continue strip with
Basketweave Pattern
Row 1 (RS) Knit, inc 1 st at center of row – 29 sts.
Row 2 P 2, k to last 2 sts, p 2.
Row 3 Knit.
Row 4 P 2, k 3, p 3, k 5, p 3, k 5, p 3, k 3, p 2.
Rows 5 and 6 As the sts face you, knit the k sts and purl the p
sts.
Row 7 Knit.
Row 8 P 4, k 5, p 3, k 5, p 3, k 5, p 4.
Rows 9 and 10 As the sts face you, knit the k sts and purl the p
sts.
Rows 11-34 Repeat Rows 3-10 three times.
Row 35 Knit, dec 1 st at center of row – 28 sts.
Row 36 P 2, k to last 2 sts, p 2.
Repeat Mini-Bobble and Basketweave Patterns alternately until a total of 9 pattern blocks have been completed, ending each strip with Mini-Bobble Pattern. Bind off knitwise.

Cast on 29 sts. Begin

Rows 5, 7, 9 and 11 As the sts face you, knit the k sts and purl
the p sts.
Row 6 P 2, k 2, p 2, k 2, p 1, k 2, p 2, k 3, p 2, k 2, p 1, k 2, p
2, k 2, p 2.

Row 5 K 2, p 2, (slip next 2 sts to cable needle and hold at back
of work; k next 2 sts from left needle, then k 2 sts from cable needle; p
2) 5 times, k 2.
Rows 6-8 As the sts face you, knit the k sts and purl the p sts.
Rows 9-32 Repeat Rows 5-8, six times.
Row 33 Repeat Row 5.
Row 34 Repeat Row 4.
Row 35 Knit, dec 7 sts evenly spaced between first 2 and last 2 sts
– 29 sts.
Row 36 P 2, k to last 2 sts, p 2.
Repeat Chevron and Cable Patterns alternately until a total of 9 pattern blocks in all have been completed, ending each strip with Chevron Pattern. Bind off knitwise.
LEFT SIDE STRIP – Make 1
Cast on 33 sts.
RS Row Work as for Bobble/Basketweave strip over first 28 sts,
place marker, k 5 (= garter-st side border). Complete as for
Bobble/Basketweave strip on 28 sts while knitting 5 marked sts every row.
RIGHT SIDE STRIP – Make 1
Cast on 33 sts.
RS Row K 5 (= garter-st side border), place marker, work as for Bobble/Basketweave strip over last 28 sts. Complete as for Bobble/Basketweave strip on 28 sts while knitting 5 marked sts every row.
FINISHING
Alternating patterns between Left and Right Side Strips, sew strips
together, taking one st from each strip into seam.
Bottom and Top Lace Borders
Note Borders are knit with circular knitting needle, working back
and forth in rows.
Row 1 With circular needle and RS facing, pick up and k 190 sts
evenly across cast on edge of Afghan.
Row 2 (WS) K 5, p 180, k 5.
Row 3 K 5, *(k2tog) 3 times, (yo, k 1) 6 times, (k2tog) 3 times;
repeat from * 9 more times, k 5.
Rows 4 and 5 Knit.
Row 6 K 5, p 180, k 5.
Row 7 Repeat Row 3.
Rows 8 and 9 Knit.
Row 10 K 5, p 180, k 5.
Row 11 Repeat Row 3.
Rows 12-15 Knit.
Row 16 (WS) Bind off knitwise.
Work same Border evenly across bind off edge of Afghan
