GAUGE:
14 sts and 19 rows = 4” on
size 8 needles with two strands of yarn held tog. TO INSURE PROPER SIZE,
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. NOTES: 1. Two strands of
matching color are held tog throughout.
2. When changing colors, be sure to twist yarn on WS from
underneath to avoid holes.
3. Color D sections have 10 rows more than B, C, E and F
sections. THROW: With two strands of A held
tog, cast on 137 sts. Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS), foll chart rep
across row (4 times), plus the end st. Cont foll chart, working in the
foll color sequence: A, B, C, D, E and F. On foll row, cont with D as
est, then foll chart beg with chart Row 87 and substitute C for E, B for
F and A for D. When B section is complete, work 4 rows in St st with A
(not indicated on chart). Bind off. BORDER: Top: With
RS facing and A, pick up and k 137 sts along top of throw. Work in
garter st (k every row), inc 1 st each side every other row in the foll
color sequence: Cont with A for 3 more rows, D for 4 rows, E for 4 rows,
then with F work 1 row and bind off on the foll row. Bottom: Work
same as for top border. Sides: With RS facing and A, pick up and
k approx 168 sts evenly spaced along side edge of throw and work same
border as for top and bottom of throw. Rep for opposite side. Sew
mitered corners.
