SIZE: One size fits all. Finished garment measures 48" when tied and 28" long.

MATERIALS: LION BRAND Wool-Ease Thick and Quick, Art #640, 6 oz. balls: 5 balls Claret # 143 or color of your choice. Knitting needles Size 13 U.S or size needed to obtain gauge, stitch holders.

GAUGE: 2 sts = 1"; 14 rows = 4" in garter st (k every row). TO INSURE PROPER SIZE, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE!

Note: Body is worked in piece to underarms.

Body:Cast on 96 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K across.
Row 2(WS): Sl first st with yarn in front as if to p, bring back yarn to the back and k across to last st, bring yarn to the front, sl last st with yarn in front as if to p. Rep Rows 1 and 2 for garter st pat, with sl st selvedge at each end, until piece measures 17.3" from beg, ending with WS row.
Shape front neck: Next row (RS): Dec 1 st at beg and end of row - 94 sts rem. Work even in garter st pat for 3 rows.
Divide for Back and Fronts: Shape armholes:Row 1 (RS): Work across 19 sts for First Front, bind off next 8 sts for underarm, work across until there are 40 sts on needle for Back, bind off next 8 sts for underarm, work across rem sts for Second Front (19 sts). Place sts of both fronts on sperate stitch holders.
Back: Next row (WS): Join another strand of yarn to Back at underam, work 1 row even. Dec 1 st at beg and end of next row (RS) and every RS row 3 more times - 32 sts rem. Work even in garter st pat until armholes measure 9" from beg of shaping. BO.
First Front: Sl First Front sts from stitch holder onto knitting needle and join yarn at underarm.
Next row (WS): Work 1 row even.
Next row (RS): Dec 1 st at beg and end of row - 17 sts rem. Dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 3 more times; AT THE SAME TIME, cont to dec 1 st at neck edge every 6th row once, then every 4th row 5 more times - 8 sts rem. Work even in garter st pat until armhole measures same as Back. BO.
Second Front: SI Second Front sts from stitch holder onto knitting needle and work to correspond to First Front, reversing shaping.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams.
Ties (make 2): Cast on 32 sts; then bind off all sts loosely. Sew one tie to each side of neck edge on row below first row of neck shaping.
