These early WMF pieces are uncommon and highly sought after.This strainer has a swing style tea basket suspended over a spouted bowl with a straight Ebony wood handle; bears the early Ostrich WMF hallmark of the German factory Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik that supplied haute fashion conscious households of 1900 with a vast range of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil),Classical and Art Deco silver plate and metal ware items. ANTIQUE EMPIRE BRONZE FIGURIAL DOOR KNOCKER Dating from the Classical Revival or American Empire period (ca 1830-80's), this figurial antique door knocker has a center design depicting the face of a mythological Olympian god (possibly the Greek messenger god, Hermes) below a curled ribbon banner; molded in high relief the god wears a winged headdress over long curly hair; the swing bail has a center oval beaded cartouche and wheat design sides; sand cast, non-magnetic and very heavy; possibly brass, however we believe this door knocker to be bronze.

Condition: original natural brown patina with evidence of a gilt plating; Old English inscription (possibly owner's name)inscribed on ribbon banner; some pitting to surface, no foundry marks.

Made of Mahogany, with lockwork corners and machine stapled type V hardware, it retains its original interior collar. This box features an unusual double Serpentine front with stepped lid, it rests on four rectangular feet. The base bears the printed Tax Class & Caution Notice. CONDITION:unidentified maker; box is in great near mint condition, wood is sound, only very minor age/use bumps & nicks to wood, all hardware is original

NOTE: would make an attractive storage box for TV remote controls, etc.

ANTIQUE MINTON PORCELAIN COFFEE POT This is an outstanding 18th c. style helmet form Minton porcelain pedestal coffee pot made for the Foster Stevens Co.; the pouring spout and high arch handle having gilded relief molded acanthus leaves; the lid with gilded foliate ring handle and molded acanthus leaf medallion; the top rim with gilt bead bands; the body with handpainted floral and laurel leaf garlands above scattered floral bouquets. The base bears Mintons globe and crown mark and Foster Stevens designation, impressed year and decorators marks on footrim. Condition: no loss to handpainted decoration,very minor rubbing to gilt on base, 2 tight hairlines at rim; no chips; dates to ca 1911.
