Descriptive Roll And Account Of Pay And Clothing. For Private John Roupe, Co. A, 83rd Indiana Infantry. Ft. Pickering, Tenn. States that Private Roupe was a 20 year old farmer, born in Bavaria, Germany, who stood 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and had grey eyes, light hair and complexion. He was enlisted by Capt. Chipman, at Milan, Indiana, on Aug. 13, 1862. Also gives his muster, pay and clothing account information. I certify that the above is a correct transcript from the records of Co. Includes a small brass item found in the Peach Orchard, a fired .58 caliber 3 ring minie found on Culp's Hill, and a small flat button with shank, marked London on the reverse, that was found at the base of Big Round Top.
