Sheila Lukins, one of America’s most beloved food writers, shares her wonderful, practical new book Ten: All the Foods We Love and Ten Perfect Recipes for Each. She’s identified 32 favorite staples, ranging from steak, burgers, pasta, shrimp, asparagus, corn, and potatoes to cakes and ice cream. For each one of them, she has included her top ten recipes, including her top ten Sunday dinners. Lukins shares over 300 recipes in this book and includes dishes from many famous chefs who are her friends. These include Judy Roger’s Zuni Cafe recipe for Roast Chicken with Bread Salad and Anthony Bourdain’s Choucroute Garni. This event is just in time for the holidays; come and join us for a wonderful lunch–– and meet this special author. Lukins is the co-author of the Silver Palate, New Basics, and many other cookbooks. The price of the combined book & meal is $100 per person/$170 per couple. Reserve now

The Giving Tree
Book Passage Goal:
A Book for Every Child
Giving Tree ProgramOur Giving Trees for this holiday season are up at both our stores, and we hope you will help us reach our goal of providing every child in the Giving Tree Program with a book. Thanks to your generous spirit, over 1,000 children, ranging in age from infancy to 18 years, received books as gifts last year. We hope to do even better this year. We have names of children provided to us by several organizations including: Canal Community Alliance, Hospice of Marin, Human Concerns Center (Ritter House), Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Marin City Children’s Program, Marin Abused Women’s Services, Sunny Hills Children’s Garden, and West Marin Collaborative.

Here’s how you can participate:

1. Choose a child’s name from the tree or menorah.
2. Select a book and purchase it. We have lists of books for children of all ages, in both English and Spanish.
3. If you would like to participate but can’t come into the store, please call (415) 927-0960 ext. 1.
