It can be used as an ashtray - there are 2 indents in the tail to rest a cigarette on - or it makes a great paperweight or figurine. It is inscribed/signed on the bottom c. BRONZE BY KARAVAN . I have not come across any other pieces inscribed with the name Karavan before, but there was a man named Dani Karavan who was known for his bronze work - not sure if this piece was crafted /designed by him or not. Vintage matchsafe and trivet. Great vintage cross collectibles: Tobacciana and Kitchen Collectible! One is a painted cast iron matchsafe, it has strikers on the sides and bottom, and an eyelet for hanging. The other is a painted trivet, similar colors. The trivet is 8 long x 4 wide. The matchsafe is about 4 wide by about 4.5 long. It has some rust on the interior of it, and a bit of rust on the exterior. According to my book on trivets, the hand-painted ones were made around the 1950's & earlier. I included some pics of a mansion in Indian Village, Detroit, (from Hour magazine), that had a great trivet display over the fireplace! The matchsafe looks much older than the trivet.

This is a wonderful black ashtray in the shape of a club. The glaze is a black splatter look. This ashtray is held in a black metal 3-legged stand. This is a great piece of functional retro art. It stands approximately 3 ½ inches tall and is about 6 ½ inches leg to leg. The only damage I could find was a very small flake of missing glaze. I have taken a picture of this but it may be too small to show up.
This unique item from the Lefton Co. still has the red sticker attached. It measures 5 x 6 in. and is 2.5 -3 in. tall. I think the pipe that is attached was used to hold matches. Best guess is this from the 50's-60's era. Mint condition. No chips, cracks, etc.
