Socket Chisel Handle Leather Cap Ash Medium
This is a like new old hardwood (ash) socket chisel handle with a leather end cap. The handle is 5.1 long overall x 1.08 diameter just behind the socket. The largest end of the socket or taper is .90 tapering to .6 at the small end of the taper. Since we show only a picture of one handle, and have more than one, we note that the others are the same size and shape, but the grain lines will very, but all are basically the same otherwise. We have several antique chisel handles in stock, and understand how difficult it is to find vintage chisel handles in new condition. Handles with the leather cap generally last longer, as the leather helps to keep the handle from splitting, and also cause less wear on your wood mallet, as the leather keeps the mallet from denting or chipped over the long haul. We generally have different sizes in stock, so if this is not the size you need, take a look at the others we have in stock.

Atkin & Sons Plane Fillister Moulding Plane Nice
This is a nice clean skew angle rabbet moulding plane with the brass adjustable depth stop and the brass inserted adjustable guide or fillester plate on the bottom. This plane is 9.5 long with a 1 cutter, and cut capacity. The cutter is set at a skew angle for smooth cutting, and the cutter is in very sharp, good condition with about 1 of stock left for future sharpening. The brass fittings on this plane are very nicely done, on the adjustable lower guide plate there are brass inserts inset for the steel screws to tighten again, basically the same concept on the side depth stop. It appears that there is provision of a steel side spur that is not provided, but the slot is in very good shape, and a spur could be made to fit it. The toe of this plane is marked ATKIN and also a horse shoe shaped logo that has the word BENEFACTUM inside the shape of the shoe. The heel is marked PH.LE HUQUET we are not sure what this means. This plane is in very nice shape, not damaged or cracked, very nice markings, super nice fitting, very little wear, and very well cared for over the years!

Goodell Bros. Spiral Screwdriver Ca. 1890's
This is a rare tool manufactured in the 1890's in Greenfield Mass! This slot bit screwdriver is 13 long fully extended, 8.25 long closed and locked in a stationary position, without the bit in the chuck. The slot bit extends out another 3 from the chuck end. This one is in good useable condition, with one 1/4 wide slot bit included. The middle brass ferrule is marked GOODELL BROS. GREENFIELD MASS. PATENT JULY 22, 1890 NOV.17, 1891 . Goodell Bros. continue manufacturing until 1899 when they became Goodell-Pratt. This is a unique design with a good solid wood handle, that has some minor wear, and dings mostly at the end of the handle. The spiral feature is in nice shape, has a little bit of play, but is staight and turns smoothly in the clockwise driving direction only, hence screwdriver and not undriver (as per factory design). The bit is removeable, held in place very tightly with a good screw chuck. The brass is realy nice on this one, as well and the steel, all nicely polished. Overall a very nice clean tool. One of the few we have seen in this nice of condition!

Keen Kutter Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver Pat. 1892 Rare
This is a very rare, and collectible spiral ratchet screwdriver! It is marked KEEN KUTTER E.C. SIMMONS on the brass medallion on the end of the hardwood handle, and also marked KEEN KUTTER PAT.DEC.18-1892 on the directional control sleeve. This screwdriver is not listed in the E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER COLLECTOR'S GUIDE by Jerry and Elaine Heuring, one of the most complete guides on the subject. It has several features including a removable slot driver bit in good+ condition, a chuck and threaded sleeve to hold the bit in place, very good condition, a slip sleeve so the user can hold that end of the screwdriver for support while turning the screw, also in great shape. Next is the lock down sleeve, that allows the user to lock down the spiral section and use the ratchet or lock feature only, works fine. Next is the direction control, this can be position in lock, right hand, or left hand positions, also works fine. Next is a good heavy steel ferrule that hold the handle in place. The handle is attached by two screws that are threaded into the handle and the metal ferrule. The handle is mounted very solid, as a good bit of the handle extends into the ferrule, yet we note a very minor amount of movement in the handle at the ferrule. Most likely the wood is very dry, and shrunk in size a very little bit. The hardwood handle has a nice old patina finish, nicely turned, we note a few minor hairline cracks in the handle, but also note it is very solid, and not crack through, no chips off of it, some small dings and stains, looks old as it should. Fitted on the end point of the handle is a brass medallion, with a nice KEEN KUTTER logo, the same logo used by E.C. SIMMONS in the late 1800's. This screw driver is 16.25 fully extended, not including the tip, and 11.5 long overall in the locked down position, from chuck to handle end. The tip extends another 2 out from the chuck tip. We thought we had seen or owned most all the ratchet screwdriver types from the 1800's, but this one surprised us! It's in good++ condition, no rust or damage, nicely marked, works as it was designed to work! Rare!

This is a one piece, all cast steel chisel. A few forging companies in the U.S.A. marketed these over the years, and in some trades, this style chisel was prefered over the wood handle socket chisel. Gage Tool Co. Plane Transitional 14 Inch Rare
This is a rare gage plane marked GAGE TOOL CO. VINELAND N.J. on the toe, and on the cutter. It is and early patented transitional plane with a early patented gage type cutter adjustment feature that is self-contained inside the wood frame/foot of the plane. There is the following patent dates on the cutter guide attachment PAT'D APR.18.86, JAN.30.83, AUG.4.85 . This cutter adjustment assembly involves 5 major parts, the cast frame with adjustment screw, The thread steel cross member that hold the frame in place with threaded screws, the cutter, the cutter gage attachment, and the cap cover, all are in very good condition, no damage, very little wear, about 70% Jappaning intact, no rust, good hardward, screws and threads, no cracks. There is plenty of stock on the cutter for future sharpening, and it is currently sharp and ready to use condition. The base or foot of the plane is clean, waxed and well cared for. It does show some wear, and there is a 3 long groove in one corner area near the toe, some rounded off sharp corners, (minor in terms of use), and a few minor, tight hairline cracks near the mouth. Overall in very good useable condition. The handle is also unique on this plane, as it has a cast iron base that holds it in place, as well as a metal top plate to protect it from chipping. The handle and front knob are both a darker wood, looks like walnut, both are solid, no cracks, both are in very good condition with only finish wear, and minor dings to report, no cracks, or missing pieces. This plane is rare because of it's size, this is comparable to the Stanley No. 5 jack plane, as it is 14 long with a 2 cutter, and we generally, or more commonly see the No. 4 1/2 size by Gage Tool Co.! This is the only one we have seen or had in stock in the No. 5 size. A rare plane, in very good, clean condition overall! It really is a wonderful plane to use! Have you ever tried one of these gage planes? Don't miss out on this one!

Goodell Pratt Hollow Auger Antique Cast Steel Adjustabl
This is a good useable late 1800's single cutter hollow auger, to be used in your brace. It is cast steel, and has very little wear. The cutter is sharp and the auger is in useable condition. This model has the size of diameter graduations down one side rail of the adjustable cutter slide assembly. There is a depth stop included, and the depth capacity is about 3 , or about 3.5 if the depth stop is removed. The cutter is sharp and useable. The screws and all the adjustments are in very good working order also. The is no rust on this unit, and there is about 90% of the black Japanning intact. It is about 9 long overall with a capacity of over 1 diameter. This particular model has an extended length frame, compared with most we have seen, allowing for more depth capacity. The tapered end that fits in your brace, is extra long also, so choose a heavy duty brace when using this unit, as this extra length will apply a good deal of stress on the brace chuck when in use. A very nice tool overall! Goodell-Pratt made several different models of hollow augers. This particular model is often seen attached to a brace also made, and marked by Goodell-Pratt Company. Because the cast frame has a threaded 3/8 diameter hole, it is possible that it would fit directly onto a G. P. brace once the drive shaft was removed. To my knowledge, this was a special brace I am referring to.

Greenlee Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver No. 448 W/hex Adapt
This is a nice, used, clean, and rare, spiral ratchet screwdriver, it is marked GREENLEE ROCKFORD ILLINOIS MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 448 on the nickel plated area near the selector switch. It measures 17 long overall to the end of the hex head adapter with no screwdriver tip in the adapter. The hex head adapter will accept many different tipped standard hex bits that you can buy at most any local tool store. In this case the adapter is press fit, or perminently attached to this screwdriver, so only hex drive tips can be used. The hex bits have 4 tiny notches on the shank of each, the round spring inside the adapter grasps the hex bit when it is pushed into place inside the adapter to keep it from falling out. The hex bits can be a bit difficult to pull out of the adapter since they are so short, but I am usually able to pull them out of mine without the use of pliers. Better to be a little tight than falling out of the adapter. Works great, because many woodworkers now prefer square drive screws, and one can buy tips to fit this adapter for this purpose, even torx type are available. This screwdriver has a very nice rosewood handle that has a clear lacquer finish over it. The handle is solid with less than normal wear, very nice with just a few minor spot of lacquer worn off, as seen in the pictures. The steel screwdriver head and shaft is in good useable condition with some minor wear on the bare metal surfaces. Nickel plating is 95% intact. The selector on this one moves smoothly and holds position very well, three position, left, right, lock. This is only the second one of these I've seen to date with the rosewood handle, considered rare! A good clean, ready to use screwdriver! Basically it's design like a Stanley Yankee No. 30A screwdriver with some minor changes to the handle design, but will lock with the spiral shaft fully inside, (like the 30A Yankee for example) shortening the screwdriver to 11.6 long for ratchet or normal use. This model doesn't have the rapid return spring on the spiral system, again like the Stanley No. 30A. Also included is 4 interchangeable hex screwdriver tips, 3 different Phillips sizes, and one slot bit. A very rare tool!

Millers Falls No. 170 Yankee Spiral Push Drill W/7 Dril
This is a rarely seen push drill from the mid-1900's era! This was one of the first of the Yankee style push drills to have the plastic handle in it's design. In this case in this Millers Falls designed the plastic part to be cased in polished aluminum end cap and a metal threaded ferrule on the other end, so the tips of the handle are metal including the thread that holds the cap in place. Millers Falls made many styles of push drills, beginning the the early 1900's. They used two different type drill point chucks over the years, this one having the YANKEE type shank bits and chuck. This model is much like the Stanley No. 45 in design, as well as some features, like the included drill points to fit in the spring type YANKEE brand chuck. But this unit is longer than the No. 45 measuring 10 long overall. This drill is in good+ condition overall with a very good spring chuck to hold the drill points in place. There is 7 drill bits or points included and stored in the handle in sectioned slots, the smallest 1/16 point size is missing from the set. (The handle has 4 sections to hold the bits, inside the handle on this model. They are all different in sizes, ranging from 5/64 to 11/64 diameter, each has a .168 diameter shank size (a full set), in very good used to new condition. The drill points shown in the picture are the actual points that come with this push drill. This push drill is in good+ used condition with most of the wear on the red plastic handle area, the metal parts have only minor wear on the spiral shaft sleeve, and on the plastic handle area. We note nickel plating is about 98% intact. It is marked MILLERS FALLS NO. 170 MADE IN U.S.A. , on the polished end cap, A hard to find model in this nice of condition! A very well made tool!

Millers Falls No. 100 Yankee Push Drill W/6 Drill Point
This is hard to find late mid-1900's era, spiral type push drill with a set of 6 different size drill points, that store in the bullet shaped handle! It has the special 8 compartment storage handle that is made of metal and the red part of the handle is heavy plastic, and is in good clean condition with only minor wear like tiny dings and scratches, still looks nice. It is marked MILLERS FALLS CO. MILLERS FALLS MASS. U.S.A. NO. 100 . Each size of different drill points is also marked on the top polish metal ring near the end of the handle, to help keep the drill points in there corresponding compartment. The red part can be released and rotates to allow the loading or removing or the drill points through one hole. This works fine. The metal is all nicely nickel plated and polished, very nice looking bullet like shape. The chuck is different than the North Brothers Yankee chucks, so the drill points have a + shape at the end instead of a notch and flat like the Yankee's. In this case, we are including a nice group of 6 different drill points with this drill, the points are in very good used to new condition in 6 different sizes from 3/32 to 11/64 . The chuck and spiral are both in very good condition, and work smoothly. Overall this push drill and points are in very good to new condition, there is very little very minor wear to report, almost as if it was never used. A very nice tool overall.

Stanley 1/4 Inch Everlasting Beveled Chisel No. 40
This is a nice clean Stanley No. 40 Everlasting butt chisel in good+ condition overall. It is marked STANLEY in pressed lettering on the socket part of the chisel, and MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. 1493176 below the Stanley name. This is considered to be about the best beveled chisel ever made by many collectors, as it has a very solid construction, including a rounded steel cap at the end that is attached inside the wood handle to the rest of the steel section of the chisel. This one is about 10.8 long, with plenty of future sharpening stock left means many hours of future service. The wood on this one is solid shape, we note some marks on the side might have dropped into some sort of a gear tooth set up while it was turning as there is some small bite marked in the socket area and on the handle, but I can say for sure the wood and the steel are all holding together just as they should be, very solid, with a good leather washer under the end cap. Overall a very nice, clean, sharp beveled flat chisel no pitting and no rust! A favorite among many users since 1911 when they were first offered by Stanley. Quality!

Fulton 1/2 Inch Socket Firmer Chisel

Dunlap Spiral Push Drill W/6 Drill Points No. 4217

This push drill has a very heavy duty red painted steel handle, with a polished aluminum threaded handle cap, and storage space for the drill points inside. Johnson & Tainter's Push Drill Patent 1869 W/ 8 Bits
This is a very nice, clean, spring loaded automatic push drill. It is one of the earliest patented push drills! It is marked JOHNSON on the end cap of the polished brass handle. It is 9.5 long overall and features the 4-jaw screw chuck, (later manufactured by Goodell-Pratt), and a full set of 8 drill points to fit the chuck. It is made mostly of brass on the exterior, the screw chuck sleeve is steel. It is in good working order, with a slightly less spring pressure than the later Yankee style push drills, but is useable. The drill point are all in very good to new condition, and come in a plastic round case with a metal cap, that is most likely from the 1930's era. The brass looks nice, has a few minor dents and scratches that do not effect use. A hard to find antique push drill! Millers Falls produced a push drill very similar to this one in the early 1900's.

Stanley Yankee Screwdriver Ratchet No. 130a
This is a nice, clean 1950's era ratchet spiral screwdriver! It is marked STANLEY YANKEE NO. 130A MADE IN U.S.A. , on the main nickel plated shaft. This screwdriver is the mid-size that Stanley made in regards to tooling, or the tips that fit into the chuck, they are the .280 (9/32 ) shank diameter size. Stanley bought out North Brothers in the late 1940's, and this tooling for these screwdrivers remained the same for Stanley production, as North Bros.. The one comes with one slot bit (others can be purchased seperately). There is very little wear on the screwdriver, about 90% like new, with most of the wear on the handle paint, about 75% of the maroon paint intact on the handle, and about 98% nickel plating intact on the metal. In very good mechanical condition also. This one has a rapid return spring, on the spiral system, so it springs back after you push it in to drive a screw. It measures 17.5 long overall with no tip in the chuck. We generally have hex shank adapters (T5630A) in stock for this size screwdriver if you wanted to use it like a push drill as well. A nice one!

North Brothers Yankee No. 43 Push Drill W/7 Bits
This is a nice clean, rare, spiral push drill marked YANKEE NO. 43 NORTH BROS. MFG. CO. PHILADELPHIA P.A. U.S.A. , on the main shaft of the drill. It comes with a wooden two piece case of drill points that is not labeled, and it has a total of 7 different sized fluted drills (5/64 -11/64 ) in very good to new condition, that fit inside the case. In this style push drill there there is a knurled ring that slides, and locks in place to hold the drill point in the chuck (much smaller in diameter and lighter weight than the other screw or spring chucks under North Bros. patented, or any of the other makers for that matter. The chuck is only 3/8 diameter on the outside sleeve measurement! This type of drill chuck works just fine, and so does the light weight push drill for that matther. There is no drill point storage in the handle like many of the other models from this period (1902-1946), so we provided a case to store them in for you. This particular model is quite rare, particularly in this nice of condition, with about 85% of the nickel plating intact, a few very minor scratches, a nice solid rosewood stained, hardwood end knob, and a good strong spring. We don't see really any wear on the machanical parts at all, but there is one small area of pitting on the spiral shaft that doesn't effect use, no rust anywhere. It measures 9.4 long overall. This push drill uses the Stanley or North Brothers YANKEE type drill bits with the notch and flat on the shank. The points included are most likely from the 1950's era, used, but in very good condition, and quite hard to find these days. Works great!. A very rarely seen collectible tool!

Greenlee Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver No. 442 Rare
This is a clean, rare, spiral ratchet screwdriver, featuring the nickel plated finish, and concealed spiral system. It is marked NO. 442 GREENLEE ROCKFORD ILLINOIS MADE IN U.S.A. PATENT NO. 1971289 on the nickel plated sleeve. This model has a turned hardwood handle with an ebonized or black stain, in nice shape with some wear, small dings and scratches, about 80% finish intact. It measures 17.5 long overall, fully extended with no bit in the chuck, and has a spring chuck to hold the removal tips in place. The steel screwdriver chuck and shaft is in very good useable condition with very little wear, and the nickel plating is about 80% intact, with some scratches and a few small dings noted. The sleeve that slide over the top of the main shaft is very close to the same inside diameter as the main shaft it slides over while using the spiral system. This being the case, the sleeve sticks a minor amount as it reaches the last 1 inch of it's compressed travel, unless ample oil is used to lubricate it. I would say it works fine, but wanted to mention it. Greenlee improved this minimal clearence issue on the later model, and this is certainly a rare early model. The selector on this one moves smoothly and holds position very well, three position, left, right, lock. The bits are removable, and have a 5/16 or .312 diameter shank, and are the same as the Stanley Yankee brand tips with the flat and notch on the shank (remember YANKEE has three different sizes in shanks, this is the largest size). It comes with 2 different tips total, 1 slot bit, and 1 Phillips No. 3 size, both in very good condition. This is the only one of these I've seen to date with the hardwood handle in this size, considered rare! A good clean, ready to use screwdriver! Basically it's a Yankee screwdriver with some minor changes to the handle design, and will lock with the spiral shaft fully inside, (like the No. 30 Yankee for example) shortening the screwdriver to 12.5 long for ratchet or normal use. As mentioned, this is one of Greenlee's earliest models, it has no quick return spring, as per it's original desing. A rare wood handle spiral ratchet screwdriver, offered in very good working order, by a well known quality tool maker!

North Bros. Yankee No. 31 Screwdriver W/phillips Tip
This is a nice clean, used North Brothers Yankee No. 31 spiral ratchet screwdriver in good+ condition. Marked YANKEE NO. 31 NORTH BROTHERS MFG. CO. PHILA. PA. MADE IN U.S.A PAT APR.16.95-NOV.2.97-SEPT.5.99-OCT.9.00-NOV.3.08-MAY.4.15 This is the biggest of the three models offered in the 1915 era, (23.5 long overall without the bit in it, with the spiral shaft fully extended), offered with two removable tips, one No. 2 size Phillips, and one slot screwdriver tip. In very good working condition. There is little minor wear on the handle, with over 80% of the maroon stain intact, some minor dings noted, no cracks, a few specks of white paint noted. The exterior of the main shaft is black painted, in fact none of the metal was nickel plated on this particular year model, since North Brothers faced a shortage of some of the plating material at this time in history. There is no rust on this tool, and it looks good in terms of minimal wear, and is in very good working order as well. Some Yankee screwdrivers are spring loaded in the spiral section, (quick return), this one does not, as per factory design, and works fine (the rapid return in this size is No. 131A, and we generally have them in stock). You can use this screwdriver with or without spiral or ratchet, using the adjustment setting on the main shaft. This is a nice clean old one! We have hex drive adapters available for sale, to fit this screwdriver, listed here on this site at additional cost (T5631A). The adapter allows you to use modern hex drive bits and bit sets, like nut drivers, and star type bits for example.

This style has a likeness to the Goodell-Pratt, or Millers Falls push drill with some of it's features, and we believe it was made by Millers Falls Co.. Works great, with a good spring and good working screw chuck. A Nice clean tool! Millers Falls made several custom push drill models over the years. Some models used the Millers Falls style drill points, while others used the YANKEE brand type. Be sure to look closely at the pictures of the drill points to be sure you purchase the style you want. Both style drill points are not being manufactured in the U.S.A. currently, so most we offer are either new old stock, or sharp and select used stock, as is the case with this offering. This is a very rare automatic push drill model, marked NO. 483 GREENLEE ROCKFORD IL. U.S.A. on the nickel plated sleeve of the main body, and a similar marking on the translucent green molded plastic handle. This is a spring loaded drill, that spins the drill chuck in a clockwise motion when you push the handle. Greenlee made the spring loaded chuck on this drill to except the well known YANKEE drill bits with the notch and flat on the shank. Included is a group of 7 drill bits (points) to fit in the chuck (from 5/64 to 11/64 all different sizes), and they are stored in the handle. The handle is hollow with 8 spaces to put points and one space to lock the cylinder in place to keep the points from falling out. The handle is solid and well attached, with some scratch and wear noted, but still very nice looking. Everything works as it should, very good mechanical condition. Millers Falls No. 100 Yankee Push Drill W/8 Bits
This is hard to find late mid-1900's era, spiral type push drill with a full set of new 8 drill points, that store in the bullet shaped handle! It has the special 8 compartment storage handle that is made of metal and the red is heavy plastic, and in very nice condition. In this case, I am including a new old stock set of drill points with this drill, the points where sold by Sears and Roebuck, and are the fluted type, in 8 different sizes from 1/16 to 11/64 . The chuck and spiral are both in very good condition, and work smoothly. Overall this push drill and points are in very good to new condition, there is very little very minor wear to report, almost as if it was never used. A very nice tool overall.

Millers Falls No. 79 Yankee Push Drill W/7 Bits Rare
This is a very rare, hard to find 1920's era, Yankee type push drill with 7 drill points! This particular model has a combination of both the rotating bit storage selector, and the hardwood handle. Unique, we have seen very few of these over the past 10 years! The drill points each store in the handle in their own compartment, that is marked for each of the 7 different sizes (missing the 1/16 size) on the side of the metal section of the handle, which is an improvement over the earlier model, all wood handle with no storage. The handle is in very good solid, firmly attached condition, with some plating wear, and some minor wood finish wear, but overall the handle section is in great shape. The drill points are the same as the North Brothers, YANKEE brand drill points and later Stanley Tools push drills used, and have the notch and flat on the shanks, all in very good to new condition. The shafts are nickel plated brass, and the screw type chuck is steel. The chuck is basically the same as the North Brothers Yankee chucks in design, with some minor different, but the drill points are the same. The chuck works just fine, and is in great shape. This is not a screwdriver, it was designed to drill only. It is 10.5 long overall, and is marked on the handle ferrule MILLERS FALLS CO. MILLERS FALLS MASS. MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 79 . There is some wear on the nickel plating on the spiral shaft, and as you can see in the pictures about 50% is worn off. One of the issues with the Millers Falls push drills from the era, is that they left the pin that holds the chuck in place in the spiral shaft sticks up a tiny amount, and when the pin reaches the next larger shaft during use, the pin head leaves a small ding on the very edge of that larger tube it hits slightly. Most all M.F. drills from this era have this tiny ding in the same place, considered minor, but need to mention it as this is a used push drill. One of the most rare push drill models from Millers Falls! Nice!

This one is not in original condition in that it was painted brown inside and out sometime in the last 100 years. It should have an original KK padlock, and also an inside label, but otherwise, it is in good condition, very clean, and solid. As you can see there is a few tiny blocks of wood missing in some of the corner joints, and I assume that happened due to the type of joint and wood used, plus being 100 years old. The box is solid however, both top and bottom. It has the original brass plaque type label on the top marked E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER ST. LOUIS U.S.A. on it, and the original latch is there but the part of it that wrapped around the top is missing, still holding well, and can be padlocked. This inside partitions are in place, and solid mounted. The hinges appear to be original. The box is 27.5 x 9 x 4.6 overall, and has two brass handles added to the sides that extent the length a bit more than 27 . A nice rare early 1900's tool chest overall!

    J. Williams Draw Knife 14 Inch Ship Mast Work
This is a very nice clean antique, hand made draw knife from the mid-1800's era! It is one of the largest we have had to offer over the years with a 14 long blade, and 22 long overall. The steel blade is the laminated type, with the softer steel extending out to the tangs inside the handles, and across the back, and then the top quality tool steel in the cutting edge area. This style of manufacturing was used on many edge tools, particularly larger edge tools through most of the 1800's. The blacksmith could use heat and technique to weld the two steel types together without loosing the qualities of either steel. The edge steel was sometimes too brittle in place, but this tool doesn't seem to have had that problem for the most part. The is one very small chip off of one corner of the edge noted. The handles are in solid shape, clean and well attached, but do have some grain splits in them. The steel tang down the middle of the handle, is bent over at the end tip to keep the handle from moving, or from being over stressed and breaking in half or coming off. This concept of holding the handles in place worked well and was continued well into the 1900's, and even in production type draw knives! I am not sure what J. Williams this was, but most likely it was the one from the Boston Mass. area. The overall condition is good++, with a very sharp cutting edge, no rust, and very few tiny imperfections. A really nice tool overall!

This is a very rare automatic push drill model, marked WARDS MASTER QUALITY on the nickel plated sleeve of the main body on the drill, and MONTGOMERY WARD MASTER QUALITY AUTOMATIC PUSH DRILL WITH 8 DRILLS 84-1315 on the box label. This is a spring loaded drill, that spins the drill chuck in a clockwise motion when you push the handle toward the chuck. The full set of 8 drill different size bits (points) to fit in the chuck comes with the drill, and they are stored in the handle. All 8 points are different sizes from 1/16 to 11/64 , all are from very good to like new condition. The handle is hollow with 8 spaces to put points and one space to lock the cylinder in place to keep the points from falling out. The handle is hardwood with a medium dark stained finish on it, very nice looking. Everything works as it should, very good mechanical condition. Appearance is about 95% like now with most of the wear on the spiral shaft, some very minor wear on the handle too. Overall a very nice, clean drill. The box is good, solid with a good label. The label has an inventory ink stamp on it, otherwise, in about 95% new condition. There is some wear on the top corners of the box, overall a nice clean original box, for a rare tool! A rare one! Greenlee also made a model similar in appearance to this one, but with the YANKEE brand style chuck instead. A nice design!

H.s.b. Revenoc Smooth Plane No. 4 Size Rare
This is a unique, No. 4 size metallic smooth plane, with the rare Hibbard, Spencer, H.S.B. REVONOC , and this is the only marked on this plane. The H.S.B. Co. has 100 year history of distributing all sorts of quality tools, made by other companies in many case, from it's Chicago location. This is a very nice, clean example of a smooth plane they supplied in about the 1930's era. There is only some minor differences between this plane and the Stanley No. 4. The cutter is tapered in thickness for one, and is much thicker at the mouth of the plane, very solid, and the cutter is moved slightly forward to the toe of the plane compared with the Stanley. The lateral, and depth adjustment are basically the same, and this plane is 9.6 long with a 2 cutter. There is no frog adjustment screw for this model, as from the factory. The condition is very good with about 90% Japanning intact, good solid hardwood handle, and knob. We did note an old repaired crack on the handle, was tested for strength, very well done, very solid. There is also an H shaped mark on the top of the handle. There is a few minor dings on the plane, but over all, very good condition. A very rare plane! Quality made!

Stanley No. 9 1/2 Adjustable Throat Block Plane 1880's
This is a very nice clean, adjustable throat block plane with the 1 5/8 wide cutter x 6 long. It is marked PLAN on the cutter, and that is about all we can read of the mark. It should be marked L. BAILEY, but the mark is stamped lightly, and it's hard to see the lettering. The radius of the stamp seems correct, as the Bailey mark was a radius at the top. The cutter is in good shape, is the correct shape, and size, and has the correct grooves on it, so it fits the cutter adjustment teeth correctly. This is a pre-lateral adjustment plane, most likely a type 6 or around 1885, as it has the smooth surface on the cap cover around the screw hole area. A nice looking plane with about 30% of it's original Japanning intact overall, very clean bare metal surfaces, and a good working adjustable throat, all with minimal wear and no rust, a few scratches noted on the bottom surface. The cutter is sharp, and in good useable condition, no rust or pitting. The cutter is set at 20 degrees on this plane, and it's ready to use with plenty of stock left for future sharpening. A real nice 19th century plane overall!

Stanley No. 120 Block Plane Early 1900's
Offering very nice clean Stanley No. 120 block plane from the early 1900's era. This one has a light stamping on the cutter, so it is difficult to see, but it is the circular shaped mark that reads STANLEY RULE in a circular shaped print, from early 1900's era. This plane measures 7.1 long x 1-5/8 wide cutter. It has about 70% of the original Japanning intact, plenty of cutter length left, no cracks, very nice overall, just missing the paint on the cap cover mostly. The rosewood knob is in very good condition, no cracks, nice finish. The cutter has a small chip off one edge, about .5 back from the cutter. The is the old style laminated cutter with the softer steel in the upper section, and the hardened steel in the cutting edge area. There is still over 5/8 of hardened cutter left for future sharpening. Also noted: The cutter throat in the bed is slighly enlarged, I have to mention it, but not enough to cause any use problems. The feature that sets this model plane apart from all the rest is the special depth adjustment feature, with the special fine serrated groove on both the adjustment post and on the cutter to match. These are hard to find cutters, and this cutter being one the an early styles offered, makes if very rare! A nice clean example of a rarely seen, early 1900's block!
