This charming Heritage Mint 16 inch tall clown doll has porcelain head, hands and feet. A flexible wire in the upper arms and legs allows the collector to change the clown's position for display by gently twisting those extremities. The jester is holding a bouquet of blue, red, and silver bangle stars in his left hand. All of the facial features and the clown's shoes were handpainted. Cutting and sewing of the costume was done individually, not mass produced. The information regarding the production and decoration of the Love and Happiness clown dolls can be found on the original cardboard hand tag attached to his right hand. In addition, there is a hallmark print on the back of the jester's neck, along with the year date of 1989, and the Heritage Mint, Ltd. Name. The porcelain figure is in very good condition with the note that the ruffled collar, and the gathering at the arm and leg cuffs, is loose fitting, rather than snug. This, however, does not detract from the display worthiness of the Heritage Mint clown/jester doll.

There are 16 - 1 inch wooden blocks or cubes with each side painted either red, white, black, yellow or a combination of the two. The blocks are in good condition as is the wooden box bottom but the blocks have been in the box so long that the paper from the bottom stuck to several of the blocks. It could easily be removed. The lid has been taped on the corners and bottom edge.

These plastic toy shoes look so life like. They even have the shoe box. Lid to the shoe box is torn on one end, but otherwise both are in excellent condition.

In 1927, Charles Lindbergh became the first aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic, turning him and his plane--the Spirit of St. Louis --into instant international celebrities and launching the aviation industry. That same year the manufacturer J.M.L. produced a toy version of Lindbergh's plane, and with it, the toy airplane industry also took off. Toy biplanes, propeller planes, hydroplanes, military planes and autogiros were produced by such early twentieth-century German toy manufacturers as Marklin, Tipp & Co., Distler, Gunthermann, Rossignol, Joustra, INGAP, Paya and Rico. Made of tinplate or sheet-iron, and based on blurry black-and-white newspaper photographs, these multicolored toys took great artistic license and lacked technical accuracy. This catalogue presents these naive masterpieces alongside the actual aircraft they were intended to model, and tells a story of product design in which enthusiasm fruitfully soared beyond technology.
