Vintage Union Pacific Railroad Paper Mailing Ephemera, Color Photos
This is a four piece mailing from Union Pacific Railroad, consisting of the outer envelope, cardboard for stiffness, and 2 color prints which are each labelled in the lower right corner, Union Pacific Railroad Colorphoto . Since the envelope was put through a postage meter before mailing and shows 6 cents U.S. Postage, it is a vintage piece, we are not sure exactly when it dates from but believe it could be the 1950's or 1960's. Further supporting the age is the address label. The piece was sent to a lady in Willow Grove, PA but there is no zip code, so perhaps this antique piece was sent prior to the institution of zip codes. We believe this is a complete mailing set, probably a promotional mailing of some sort. Outer envelope dimensions are 13 1/8 x 11 3/16 inches (not including the sealing flap). The two color prints each measure 12 3/4 x 10 5/8 inches. One color photo (the one showing just the large yellow train on railroad tracks) is labelled on the bottom, A Union Pacific stock train with modern diesel power . The other color photo (the one with the smaller yellow train on the high train bridge) is labelled Union Pacific streamliner, City of Portland, crossing Snake River at American Falls, Idaho . We believe condition overall for its age is very good, but it is definitely not mint. As you can see in the images, the envelope has creasing and small tears at the outer edges (particularly on the closing flap), with a larger rip and most significant creasing by the postage meter mark. The photos are in much better shape, no tears, but there is some corner bending and edge creases, with a diagonal corner crease which is in the upper right picture area on the yellow train on the track picture. The prints also don't lie absolutely flat, with a little bit of curving to them, but they would lie flat and look great framed. A nice addition to a railroad paper or ephemera collection, or any collection of railroadiana or train related items, and particularly pretty framed, given the brightness and quality of the color photos. Relative to shipping, please note: This item CAN NOT be shipped via U.S.P.S. Media Mail per the post office. Please do not select this shipping option because we will have to contact you and change the shipping to something else, increasing your postage cost. Also, if you are also interested in other ephemera pieces we have listed, please contact us before placing the order. The shipping information has been inputted for a purchase of just this one piece and will not calculate the savings you would get when purchasing more than one shipped together in the same package (we will need to handle this for you).
