I don't often find the old sewing accessories. So many have been discarded. But this paper needle book is in great condition and still contains some of the original needles. It measures 3 1/4 inches by 5 inches.

Advertising Box - J and P Coats Mending Floss, Sold by The Spool Cotton Company, New York. Box measures 4 long, 1 3/4 wide and 3/4 high. The box is black with a pair of ladies legs in a circle and gold lettering on the top and sides. Box states the mending floss can be used for mending silk hosiery gloves and underwear. Box is in very nice condition with minor wear.

Marked: Berlin, Made in Germany, US Zone. Wonderful red sewing maching - was my own - I put a battery in and it did not work, might be just a wire. Has lost a little paint in front - see picture. No needle, but thread stays. All parts are there as far as I can see. The nut that holds the thread in, the tension. Wheel turns easily. Very sturdy toy.

One of the gentle arts in Victorian times was this fine wire beading of corsages. This one is about 5 x 5 inches and may have been made to wear on a coat since it is quite large but the pin back was never attached. No boo-boos and its fun to rearrange the flexible wires.

This small lot contains three thimbles--one brass, one silverplate, and a third of unknown composition. The brass thimble has two small holes, as does the unknown thimble. The silverplate thimble has a crimped rim and the number 12. There is also an old strawberry pincushion with a nicely embroidered top. There are a few worn threads that are visible only under a loupe--no tears. Still solidly packed.

These tiny wool covered buttons were on a black vest which I bought, along with the formal jacket with tails - it fit me! It was hand tailored in Finland in 1933 and landed here with an immigrant. One button was missing from the vest and in replacing them, I found that these shanked buttons were applied with the clip pictured - removable for cleaning? But them were attached inside the lining! A curiosity.

I don't know much about thimbles but I know this one is beautiful with all kinds of applied curls, flowers and leaves. There is a seam which makes it handmade? Excellent condition. 2 views.

I love these old needlebooks. This one is called Happy Home and once held 60 assorted Gold eye needles and 1 threader. The threader is gone but 50 of the needles remain. The cardboard folder measures 6 1/2 inches long by 4 inches wide. It is clean and in good condition.
