Manufacturer: Staffordshire
Very early piece of blue transferware featuring a boat pond with people fishing and rowing. The usual castles and oriental looking foliage surround the scene. The lacy looking trim was rather hastily applied at it is somewhat crooked, torn and runny in spots, all adding to the charm of this early item. There is no apparent mark on the piece. There are hairline cracks at the bottom, but they do not go through and the boat still holds water, and presumably gravy. No other detractions unless you call age discoloration a defect. It is 8 3/4" from spout to handle and stands about 4 1/2" high. Displays well. Estimate it to be mid 1800's. |
