This is a Victorian or Edwardian drawstring mourning purse. It has a MADE IN FRANCE label inside. The purse is made of crocheted black silk cord. It is embellished with cut steel beads. The beads are in the crochet, on attached loops and on a tassel on the bottom of the purse. The purse has a metal chain handle. The purse is lined in black silk. The purse measures 8 inches long and 5 inches wide without include the handle or the tassel. The purse is in good condition with no holes. One of the rings that holds the chain is loose and may need reattaching. There are also a few beads on one loop that have oxidized. The purse has not been cleaned.
