Circa: circa 1870 - 1920 Condition: Aged, Good, some nicks Size: 2 1/2 inches Tall and 3 3/4 inches wide excluding handle Manufacturer: Asian Artisan
Handpainted and Hand thrown pottery teacup. Red clay used for this cup. There are a few rough spots around the edges where the glaze is worn off, so you can feel how this is NOT one of your thin fine china porcelain clays. This one is pretty old. I have searched and researched the Signature Mark and come up with Zilch,SO I am just putting it out there for someone else to do that!We do know that it is Asian, but where from???The body is about 1/8 inch thick and very no nonsense in the weight(6 ounces). Seems like a very Utilitarian cup potted by someone who wanted it for everyday, BUT also wanted Beauty by the loveliness of the Scribed and Delicately colored Flower! The clay has discoloration in spots,so it is older than my educated wide ranging guess OR it could be from 1000 cups of tea! Free Shipping Domestic USA (2-3 days) |
