The mug commemorates the martyrdom of John, born 1345 in Nepomuk, Bavaria (now the Czech Republic) who was murdered during the conflict between church and state during the last part of the 14th century. The mug is 3" h x 2 ¼"w. It reads "SVATY JAN NEPOMUCKY."There is a frosted circular panel opposite the handle portraying St. John with a cross and perhaps a laurel leaf. Probably late 1800’s of European origin. No damage. Excellent condition. (6456)
