Report of Subsistence Stores on hand in the 2d Division, 3d Corps, September 15th, 1863. Itemized account broke down by brigade giving the number of men in each brigade, how the stores are carried (haversacks and wagons), and lists the stores of pork, fresh beef, hard bread, soft bread, beans, rice, coffee, sugar, vinegar, candles, soap, potatoes, apples, and pepper.

Very fine.

James D. Earle, who signed this document, was commissioned captain, U.S. Volunteers, Commissary Department, September 10, 1862. He served as Chief C.S., of the 2nd Division, 3rd Army Corps, Army of the Potomac. He was commended by General Andrew A. Humphreys, who commanded the division, in his after Gettysburg battle report. He was promoted to brevet major, on March 13, 1865, and mustered out of the service on January 10, 1866.
