Published in 1960 by the National Rifle Association, Washington DC, Basic Rifle Marksmanship is a 32-page softcover book beginning at the start of rifle marksmanship and, in the simplest way possible, giving the beginner fundamental information and background for good shooting.

Contents include history of the rifle; introduction to the rifle; rifle parts, operation and ammunition; safety and range discipline; sighting and aiming; making shots count; firing positions; and the care of guns and ammunition. The fundamentals here, says the NRA, are equally appropriate whether the beginner is starting at 15 feet with a spring type smoothbore air gun, at 25 feet with a CO2 or pneumatic rifle, at 50 feet with a .22 caliber rifle or at a longer range with a high-power rifle. After the beginner is well grounded in the essentials of marksmanship, ambition and interest will carry him through the practice and refinement necessary for expertise.

The book is well illustrated and in very good condition, with slight soiling on the outside covers and a vertical crease. It’s a nice one! (3979)
