Nifty find out of a home as part of a movie memorabilia collection. Original Vintage Movie Pressbook for advertising and promoting the 1977 film "The Goodbye Girl" in newspapers, magazines, radio, etc. This promotional piece actually has 3 separate parts, which are labelled Pressbook (for "Publicity, Promotion, Advertising, Exploitation"), Pressbook Supplement (which is said to contain "The New Approved Ads, Do Not Use Any Other Ads"), and a third piece which kind of combines the first two in a shortened way and doesn't have a title. All three came out of this same home, nestled within each other, so we are selling all three as one group. At the same time, we have also listed two lobby cards from this film.

"The Goodbye Girl" was distributed by Warner Brothers, with all three pieces having a 1977 Warner Brothers copyright notice. The film starred Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason, and introduced Quinn Cummings as Lucy. The romantic comedy was written for the screen by Neil Simon and directed by Herbert Ross.

Overall these pieces measure 10 3/4 inches wide x 13 3/4 inches high. Two of these have fold-out pages which increase the width when fully extended. The Pressbook provides much copy or perspective about the film, including a Synopsis, Cast/Credits/Billing lists, bios or biographies and comments about the actors with photos, ideas for promoting the film, etc. The Pressbook Supplement consists of varied sized ready to use and cut (but no cutting has been done here) ads that could be used with newspapers and magazines. The third piece largely combines the first two, with copy about and photos from the film and a large ad on the back page. These are all black and white pieces (no color here) and will be mailed flat in a plastic sleeve, sandwiched between cardboard in a large padded envelope.

We've provided 8 images. We were able to show many but not all of the pages/sides for each of the 3 promotional pieces (given the limitation of showing only 8 images with the listing). The Pressbook Supplement has the most pages of these 3 advertising pieces. The first 4 images are of the Pressbook, the next 2 images are of the Pressbook Supplement, and the final 2 images show the last promotional piece. Please use the zoom feature to examine closely.

Excellent condition with no major flaws, with nothing cut out or missing here. These pieces have been handled, so there is some expected slight handling wear/slight creases/slight corner folds/etc., with usual expected storage/age wear, but there is nothing bad here at all. No large unintended folds, corners missing, etc. Just great vintage shape for ephemera or paper pieces.

In addition to this Pressbook and 2 lobby cards from this film, we are listing lobby cards from other movies. Should you be interested in more than one listing, we would be pleased to ship these together in one package to save you postage. Please contact us prior to inputting the order as the system won't provide you with the combined shipping discount. We would be pleased to calculate that for you.
